Chapter 44: Eternal Winds Trail

As soon as they descended from the sky, Ling Xue and Li Yumei felt a light breeze brushing against their bodies. It was nothing significant to them, but the wind seemed endless.

They proceeded in a specific direction as the wind gradually intensified.

The Beast Mountains, despite appearing immense and dividing the continent, were merely massive mountains, accompanied by smaller ones surrounding them.

Under the great storm in the sky of these mountains, it was supposed to be possible to navigate around them and then cross the mountain range.

However, as visually crossable as the mountains seemed, there was a known aspect about them, much like the Frozen Abyss: the central part of the Beast Mountains is one of the four forbidden places on the southern continent.

The colossal storm was more than just extreme weather; it was called a space storm for a reason. The sky in this region was enveloped in a potent combination of profound energies, creating massive distortions in the sky. Space was unstable, thunder resonated everywhere, and the wind was extreme.

The spatial energies in the storm, though invisible, caused dimensional distortions throughout the region, resulting in an unstable and unpredictable field in the central part of the Beast Mountains.

Attempting to circumvent the mountains in any way would lead to paths where space is unstable, rendering spiritual sense useless once you enter one of these mountains.

Using spiritual sense could end up harming the cultivator due to the enormous spatial energy present.

Because of this, without spiritual sense, it's incredibly easy to become lost forever upon entering this region. Small spatial portals are scattered throughout the area, sending individuals to various locations in the central part of the mountain range. These locations could lead to even more dangerous and unknown destinations within the mountains. Once in this region, it's like being trapped in an inescapable labyrinth.

Besides anomalies frequently occurring around these mountains due to all the terrifying energies, individuals without prior knowledge of this place would have virtually no chance of survival.

However, the spiritual energy in this place is enormous, and treasures frequently emerge, primarily treasures with thunder and wind Qi. It's a dangerous place, but those who manage to return alive are sure to be rewarded.

Thus, for thousands and thousands of years, numerous powerful cultivators entered this place in search of treasures, while others sought a way to pass through the mountain range and find a safe route.

And then, after countless years, such a place was indeed discovered. The Eternal Winds Trail is the only route that minimizes the risks of this place, discovered by unknown cultivators. Although quite safe, a certain strength and luck are required to pass through it safely.

Any deviation would lead to unpredictable dangers, making the crossing of the mountain range extremely risky, even for saints.

Ling Xue had read about all four forbidden places on the southern continent and was aware of the danger of this place, but he didn't care much. He simply walked ahead of Li Yuemei while the wind struck their bodies.

They would soon enter the stormy region.

Although Li Yuemei didn't show it on her face, she was a bit scared. She had heard about the danger of this place since childhood, just like she heard about the danger of the Frozen Abyss. Even though she was in the King realm, her strength was still like that of an ant in this place.

After walking for a few hours, the two approached the beginning of the Eternal Winds Trail. Even before arriving, the wind was extremely terrifying. Li Yuemei had long used her Qi as a form of protection.

The corrupted lunar energy circulated through her body like a barrier, shielding her from the cutting wind. However, from time to time, she had to use more energy just to avoid being injured by the cutting wind.

Finally, they reached the entrance to the Eternal Winds Trail. This place seemed ordinary, but the wind gathered here in a bizarre way. Even before entering, Li Yuemei could no longer bear to use only her Qi. The moons on her forehead lit up as she used the power of her physique; a bloody aura spread from her body as her Qi shield strengthened several times.

Ling Xue looked at her with interest. He didn't understand how her physique worked, but he found it intriguing, so he paid close attention to her.

Then he noticed that, despite her calm expression, she was squeezing her hands a bit tightly while looking at the path ahead.

He approached her side.

"Are you scared?" he asked calmly.

"A little. This place seems as terrifying as the Frozen Abyss; I feel extremely weak here," she replied sincerely, without caring about the pride she usually exhibited when in the sacred land.

"Just stay by my side; I'll protect you on the way. You won't suffer a scratch, rest assured. Despite appearing terrifying, the book said that even the weakest saints, if they were smart and not unlucky, could pass through here."

"Then it's okay," he said with an almost expressionless face.

"Hm, alright," Li Yuemei replied, nodding as she approached him.

Suddenly, she saw ice appear around the two; this was Ling Xue's physique power. A thin circular barrier of pure ice formed around them.

A freezing emanated from the ice, but Li Yuemei felt nothing; in fact, she felt quite secure.

Then the two entered the Eternal Winds Trail, and wherever they walked, the ground was quickly frozen, leaving a trail that would soon thaw.
