Chapter 40: Meeting Your Ancestor

Within a vast mysterious place...

Feng Qian suddenly woke up and saw himself in the middle of a vast, calm sea, "Where am I?" He asked.

Fwosh~~

"You have finally woken up, Young Qilin…" a calm yet deep and terrifying voice suddenly sounded elegantly calling out to Feng Qian.

However, as soon as Feng Qian looked towards the source of the sound, he was shocked to see an incredibly massive creature that made even the vast, calm sea where he was located look small from his perspective.

Feng Qian couldn't help but inquire curiously, "Excuse me, are you that massive creature?"

The majestic voice replied, "Look down, child." Confused, Feng Qian obeyed and was astonished to find a tiny worm, no larger than his hooves.

Intricate patterns adorned the beautiful creature, and he questioned, "A worm?"

Pang~~

Abruptly, the calm sea transformed into a violent storm, lightning illuminating the sky. The majestic voice warned, "Careful with your words, Young Qilin. You are talking with Your Ancestor."

Terrified, Feng Qian immediately apologized, "F-Forgive me, Ancestor!" Feng Qian knelt while seeking forgiveness.

Soon, the worm nodded, and the storm subsided.

Feng Qian, cautious, then inquired about their location, "Can I know where we are, Ancestor?"

The worm sighed and explained, "We are in your Spiritual Sea..."

Feng Qian nodded in understanding while his mind raced with realization. From the memory of his past life he remembered the Spiritual Sea was a realm located within the mind of a Spirit Master or Spirit Beast, and served as a storage space for their Spiritual Energy and parts of their Spirit.

With that knowledge, Feng Qian looked at the worm and his curiosity led him to ask, "Ancestor, how did you end up in my Spiritual Sea?"

However, the worm looked at Feng Qian with mysterious intent, "Hmm, Your Ancestor here already knows you must have realized something about it…"

Feng Qian was stunned, "W-What do you mean, Ancestor?" He said stammeringly.

The worm grinned "Your ancestor have lived for countless years... I can tell when someone already knows the answer to their own question..."

Feng Qian was somehow shocked and terrified of the Worm's Intuition, he indeed already had some presumptions about the question he asked earlier.

"Is this ancestor able to read my thoughts?" Feng Qian thought to himself, but after making sure the worm didn't react to his thoughts he started to calm down.

Feng Qian took courage after careful thought then said, "Forgive me, Ancestor, but are you perhaps the Dragon God?"

The worm regarded him seriously, then softened its gaze and let out a long sigh. The revelation seemed to hang in the air, creating an atmosphere of anticipation as Feng Qian awaited the worm's response.

The worm took a deep breath and explained, "I am no longer the Dragon God, I'm just a fragment of consciousness that was disconnected from the Dragon God's consciousness."

Feng Qian remembered the Dragon God from stories he had read in his past life, but he was shocked and struggled to comprehend the magnitude of his situation standing before a being that was once revered as the most powerful entity in the universe.

As the weight of the revelation settled upon Feng Qian, he dared to inquire about something that stirred within his recollections.

"Ancestor, are you Lanruo's father?"

A chuckle echoed from the worm, dismissing the notion with a gentle yet saddened air.

The worm amused, "My son has long gone... The egg belonged to his mother."

Feng Qian's confusion deepened when the Worm explained something beyond his understanding.

The worm continued, "Long ago, my wife struggled to bear our child. In desperation, she turned to a forbidden technique, sacrificing her life to give birth to our child. It was the most agonizing yet blissful day of my existence.

The story painted a poignant picture of love and sacrifice, leaving Feng Qian to grapple with the profound emotions that accompanied such a tale.

The worm began reflecting, "Despite countless attempts to resurrect her, all efforts failed. At the end, I chose to reverse her into an egg, and leave a fragment of my consciousness within, hoping for a miracle."

The worm continued, "Countless years passed, and just when I thought there was no other hope, the egg hatched in front of you."

Feng Qian listened intently as the worm carried the burden of countless years, culminating in a miraculous hatching due to their encounter.

"And here we stand... My consciousness somehow transferred to your Spiritual Sea."

The revelation left Feng Qian in stupefied.

The worm then looked at Feng Qian seriously and said, "Young Qilin, your body is actually gifted with a unique talent, Your Ancestor here might even dare to say that it is comparable to the talent of the Dragon God."

Feng Qian was stunned at the worm's words, "Is the talent he is referring to perhaps his [Status]? or something else?" He thought inwardly, and then asked, "What do you mean by that, Ancestor?"

The worm let out a long sigh once again, and began to reminisce about the past once more, "A long time ago, before I became a Dragon God, I once met a powerful being from the Qilin race."

The worm continued, "That Qilin's talent is similar to yours and became my strongest rival since he was able to fight on par with me…"

Curious, Feng Qian asked, "What happened to that Qilin?"

With a blank expression, the worm replied, "He encountered misfortune on his journey..."

"Oh..." Feng Qian nodded without asking further...

The worm soon looked intently at Feng Qian, "Your Ancestor here knows that you haven't even figured out how your talent works."

Feng Qian was actually quite curious about it, other than the system, he was actually curious to know why he could absorb the Dragon Cores and could even bring the Dragon God's consciousness into his Spiritual Dea.

There were still many things he needed to understand if he wanted to survive in this world.

Feng Qian then took courage and asked, "Can you explain further, Ancestor?"

The worm then smiled with hidden intentions, and said, "Young Qilin, come and be my disciple."
