Chapter 8: Chapter 7
Waking up and going through my morning workout, I go through the details from the status board, I'm both happy and sad about some of the details; happy that domains are available and sad about farming for them. I'm also not glad about the limitation in rise of mana except I upgrade my vision. I'm brought out of my thoughts when I see amber close to me. "What are you doing? You're too close" I push her away as I start to go back to the inn. "Hey hey, wait up! I'm sorry, I wanted to ask if you want to go on a quest with me"
I stop and look at her, tilting my head confused. "Why me? I'm still a D-rank adventurer and I'm not very good at fighting" "I need your help for a quest and you're the only available Cryo user" I ignore her as I start to think about it, before nodding since she'll be of great help. "Yay! Let's get going" she drags me to the guild, where the quest is accepted.
Since I see it's a C-rank quest, I ask if it's okay that I go. "There's no problem, since miss amber is an A-rank adventurer, so she can react to any problems arising" I look at her in shock as she huffs in glee, radiating a 'praise me look'. I just groan and ignore her, laughing as she pouts, before smacking me playfully as she joins in.
Heading out, I ask "where the quest location is and what are the details?" she gives me the page and I look at it. Seems the quest is to check the increased death rate in the midsummer courtyard domain at starsnatch cliff. "What's the main problem about this domain?" "There may have been a mutated monster in the first floor of the domain" "first floor?" I ask
She looks at me and groans "I remember that domains are only allowed by C-ranks and above due to the difficulty. Listen up. Domains are more like phenomena or instances that are found in temple-like entrances in teyvat" I nod as I've seen a few from the memories I had. She continues explaining "Completing the challenges within the domain, varying between solving hard puzzles to fighting empowered enemies, depending on the difficulty. There are two types of domains; permanent and challenge domains. Permanent include the artifacts domain while the challenge are for weapon ascension, enhancement and refinement. The challenge domains also change every week to different ascension materials for different weapons." 'So I'll just think of them as mini-dungeons' I muse inwardly as I nod at her explanation.
Getting to the entrance, I ask her a question "why are there different floors in the dungeon?" she looks at me and replies "oh it's just an increased difficulty level and stronger enemies, also it's also divided by adventurer rank to prevent unwanted accidents" as she asks for my card. I give it to her as she registers us for a party, increasing reward and drop rate by 2x. I take the card back as I'm pulled into a kaleidoscope of colors as I'm dropped to the dungeon. I resist the urge to puke as amber looks at me worriedly. "I'm okay, just give me a minute" I groan as I drink some water she handed to me.
Getting up as I feel better, I see amber getting serious as she summons her weapon, doing the same as I admire the favonius war bow in her hands. Moving forward, I look around at the dark atmosphere, lighted only by some lamps. I see her aim and shoot at a hilichurl archer about 500m. 'Damn that's some far-sight' I whistle as I check her stats:

'Whoa, she's way stronger than me' I sweat drop as I focus on the hilichurls on the ground. Acting as a porter, I pick up the mask and move forward as she snipes two shielders from a far distance. Going to the battle area. I look around as she accepts the challenge, being to defeat two axe mitachurl in three minutes. Getting to a battle stance, I get ready as I infuse my spear with ice, amber falling back as I do so. Rushing the first one as they materialize, I activate my skill as the area around me is frozen, making them panic. Taking the chance as amber fires three arrows to the second one delaying it for a few seconds, I stab its right shoulder, making it drop its axe as melt reaction occurs, reducing the defense due to the tough skin. Activating accelerate gear one, I use the momentum to stab its neck, leaning to the left and dodging its last attack as it falls. Hearing a loud roar, I see the first one I stabbed already healed and I'm shocked when I see the axe turning red.
"It's a fire axe mitachurl, get out of there!" amber shouts, but it's too late as its already swinging it towards me. Hearing a click, I see the surroundings getting slower as gear two kicks in. raising my spear as I add as much Cryo mana to reduce the impact, groaning as I'm launched to the left as the weapons collided as I felt several ribs break.
*cough* 'my body hurts like hell' I mutter as I roll to the right, the axe hitting the wall. I shiver at the close call, before getting mad that I almost died to a normal enemy. Overloading my weapon with Cryo, I throw it while shouting "eat this you dip shit!!" *swoosh* *puchi* stabbing its left foot, it falls while roaring loudly in pain. "Amber now!" I yell before seeing her shooting a flame arrow in the sky. 'Whoa', I mutter as I see it falling before turning into a rain of flame arrows, the Cryo energy making it easier to penetrate its body, killing it. "Yay" I laugh before coughing blood and falling. I see Amber running towards me as I smile before falling unconscious.
Waking up, I see a white ceiling. I close my eyes while remembering the fight. Looking at a lot of things I could have done better in the fight, I just yawn and think 'I will handle things as they happen'. I try to get up, but hiss in pain as I lay back down. Looking at the weight I feel, I see amber resting on the bed. I sigh, knowing she thinks it's her fault and wake her up.
"Barry!" she shouts as the hugs me "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry" she mutters as she doesn't let me go while in hiss in pain. Patting her in the back, I sign while hearing her cry silently. "I know I should be happy to see a pretty girl worried about me, but there's no need to worry too much, you know. There's no way for you to know what will happen, so just be happy I'm alive okay?" she nods as I ask where we are. "We are in the church, I asked Sister Barbara to fix you but your body wasn't healing quickly, so we had to apply first aid and wait for you to wake up"
I chuckle and smile as I hear some footsteps. As the door opens, she jerks off as she sits down blushing, ignoring the confused priestess entering. Coughing to get their attention, they look at me and quickly go out to call Barbara. I chuckle as I look at the still flustered amber before asking what happened when I fell unconscious. She told me that after completing the challenge, she collected the proof of completion for the quest and the reward for the domain. After rushing me to the church, she also sent the completed quest to Katherine, which also updated on my card, due to us being a party at the time. Checking the card, I see the proof of completion, and I see I'm also a level 25, just to do the ascension quest before reaching C-rank.
I smile as I put it back and chat with Amber, before seeing the door open and seeing Barbara and the nun that ran away. Barbara is a petite girl with ash blonde hair tied in pigtails, and bright blue eyes. She wears a white frock that is open at the shoulders with blue frills, gold lining, and a large white and blue bow, with a gold cross, in the front, along with white tights, white ankle boots with black bottoms and blue ankle cuffs, and a blue and white cap resembling a nurse's cap with a gold cross on its front. Her white tights have a faint flower polka-dot pattern. Her Vision is attached to a gold-adorned spell-book with a light blue cover and a small cross charm hangs at her side, attached to a black strap held together with a gold hoop.
Looking at me, she nods and the nun, and the nun sighs and leaves. Closing the door, the room is silent before I quip "I know I'm handsome, but can you please heal me?" She blushes before using her elemental skill. Feeling my wounds heal, I thank her, but she glares and tell me I have to stay for a few days. I try to complain, but both of them didn't bulge so I had to reluctantly agree. I had to lie down and relax while being fed by amber for the next few days. Noelle also came to visit a few times, bringing some fruit and scolding me a few times on my recklessness. I smile, feeling happy in a long time.
After going back to my hotel room, I relax for a few days after checking up on Lisa and Katherine, with both of them laughing at my misfortune before scolding me a lot afterwards. I went on the date on the weekend with Noelle. She showed me around the town, dressed in a light brown sundress. I told her she looked pretty, which made her blush for a while. After getting some new clothes and a weapon (since the other one broke after overloading it), she took me to the huge tree in wind rise. We played around for a while before having a picnic/ lunch till the evening. Holding hands till I got to her place, she gave me a peck on the cheeks before running inside and closing the door. I chuckle before going to my room and laying on my bed. Thinking of the kiss, I fist pump in the air before laughing loudly to sleep.
