Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Shyness

Suyuxin extended her hand, encircling Feng Yao's neck, lightly pecking his lips like a dragonfly skimming water. Her dewy eyes carried a coy and bashful demeanor as she softly called, "General."

Feng Yao's breath hitched, his longing surging instantly. The crackling of silk echoed as the waves of passion roiled within.

Despite his desperate efforts to restrain himself, to hold back, Suyuxin couldn't help but cry at that moment. Tears glistened in her almond eyes, assuming a pitiable appearance, melting Feng Yao's heart.

Feng Yao bent down to kiss away the tear at the corner of Suyuxin's eye, sweat forming on his forehead, his voice husky yet magnetic: "Relax, my dear."

Suyuxin bit her lip, nodding slightly, yet her mind couldn't help but murmur. Although she and the General had many conflicts before, after five years of marriage, they had already consummated their union. Why did it feel like the first time?

Soon, Feng Yao's words provided her with an answer: "The first time may hurt, but it won't later."

"The first time?" Suyuxin widened her eyes, her breath becoming erratic, her voice trembling slightly, "How long have we been married?"

Supporting himself, Feng Yao's sweat fell onto Suyuxin's neck. Though somewhat puzzled, he still answered, "Six months. Why?"

Six months! Suyuxin covered her mouth, tears instantly streaming down her cheeks onto the pillow in speckles.

Had she not failed to die but instead been reborn into the past? Did God, seeing her blindness in her previous life, grant her a second chance?

Seeing Suyuxin crying uncontrollably, Feng Yao thought she regretted it and, feeling his heart darken, was about to get up. Despite his overwhelming desire, he couldn't bear to see her regretful and in tears.

"General..." Suyuxin, knowing Feng Yao had misunderstood, took the initiative to approach.

Feng Yao's breath immediately became erratic again, unable to control himself any longer. Finally, Suyuxin couldn't bear it and fainted.

When Suyuxin woke up, it was already daylight. As she moved slightly, her entire body felt excruciatingly sore, as though she had been run over by a carriage. Especially her lower back, sore and numb.

Suyuxin was bewildered for a while before regaining her senses. Remembering the previous night's madness, her cheeks burned hotly. But then, thinking that heaven had granted her a fresh start, she felt incredibly lucky, and a smile involuntarily graced her lips.

"What are you thinking? You seem so happy." A deep, low voice sounded near Suyuxin's ear, filled with lazy contentment.

Suyuxin was startled, turning her head abruptly and accidentally bumping into Feng Yao's chest, her teary eyes sore. She hadn't expected Feng Yao to still be here. Shouldn't he be attending court today? Wasn't today a working day?

She felt so inadequate as a General's wife, not even knowing when her husband had a day off.

"Does it hurt?" Feng Yao quickly sat up, asking with concern.

"No," Suyuxin rubbed her nose, shaking her head.

As Suyuxin moved, the quilt slipped, revealing one of her shoulders covered in bruises.

Feeling awkward, Feng Yao scratched his chin, uncomfortably asking, "Um, do you need some medicine?"

Last night seemed a bit too wild.

Suyuxin was momentarily stunned. Why would she need medicine when she was perfectly fine? Only when Feng Yao's calloused hand gently massaged her shoulder did she realize and, with a sudden "Oh," she shrunk back under the covers, even covering her head.

Hiding under the quilt, Suyuxin realized she wasn't wearing anything. Her shy face instantly turned red, even her earlobes burning hot.

"Don't suffocate." Feng Yao tried to pull Suyuxin's blanket.

"No." Suyuxin clung to the blanket tightly, her voice muffled, making her shyness barely discernible, "Go out, please leave."

Feng Yao froze for a moment, his eyes instantly dimming. Was she regretting it? He thought their relationship would grow closer after last night, given her usual enthusiasm.

Was she afraid he would hold her accountable for the aphrodisiac, so she had compromised herself last night?

"Go out, please," Suyuxin urged in a muffled voice from under the blanket.

She was feeling shy. Yet, Feng Yao couldn't perceive her feelings, feeling like a bucket of cold water had been poured over him. Had he been too presumptuous?

Actually, it wasn't entirely Feng Yao's fault; it was just that Suyuxin had too many "previous convictions."

"Alright." Feng Yao chuckled self-mockingly, dressed, and then left. Because Suyuxin was still hiding under the covers, she didn't notice the somewhat desolate figure of Feng Yao departing.
