Chapter 5: Chapter 5 - Eternal Sleep
"Ring, ring" echoed the alarm clock at 6 A.M, signaling the sunrise on the horizon. Dim rays of light pierced through the curtains like lasers, hitting Odion's closed eyes. He squeezed them shut, clearly reluctant to leave the warm embrace of his bed, lazily rolling from one side to another.
With a sigh, he reached over to the alarm clock, shutting it down. Opening his eyes but remaining sprawled on the bed, his mind urged him to stay there, to embrace the laziness and comfort of the warm bed.
He contemplated the allure of the blanket's coziness, the plushness of the bed, and the warmth of the room. The temptation to continue laying there, to escape reality and drift into a timeless slumber, overcame him. It felt as if the bed itself had transformed into a creature, wrapping its comforting arms around him and pulling him into a different world - a world where sleep was endless and the worries of reality ceased to exist.
"Ha, why should I wake up? What awaits me in this world?" Odion muttered to himself, still half awake and nestled in the coziness of his bed. He questioned the worth of waking up and facing the same routine of harsh and brutal reality.
The allure of staying in bed for eternity seemed tempting, as if the escape into the realm of perpetual sleep offered respite from the challenges and difficulties that awaited him in the waking world.
Despite the internal struggle, Odion knew he had to go to school to see the face of his childhood love. For her, he had transferred to her school and waited so they could journey to the tower together, aiming to become hunters and change the pathetic fate he faced.
After a while, as he closed his eyes, a vivid picture of a girl smiling formed in his mind. Her long, shiny, smooth hair slid across his face, and she gave him an innocent smile while chuckling. It was Kimiko. Drawing strength from the memories they shared, he mustered the courage to face the day. The thought of Kimiko added a glimmer of hope to his heart, creating a sweet and romantic moment in his thoughts.
Standing in front of the mirror, he brushed his teeth and gargled, clearing his throat. Splashing water on his face, he then stepped into the shower. The water cascaded like rain, falling on his face as he swayed under the shower. His skinny, white, pale skin reflected the scars and wounds from the countless hits he endured, vividly portraying the signs of the bullying he faced daily. Each mark told a story of the challenges he braved on a regular basis.
As Odion reached his class, he settled into his chair without uttering a word. Silently, his eyes gazed outside the window where a warm, sunny day unfolded. The sun's rays delicately kissed his cheek and enveloped his heart in a comforting embrace. The warmth of the sunlight seemed to soothe the pain within him, prompting him to wipe away his tears. Clenching his fist, he prepared to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
After a while, another student approached him. She was Kimiko, his best friend. Both orphans from the same orphanage, they shared a common childhood dream of escaping their seemingly worthless reality. Together, they aspired to be summoned to tower, acquiring skills that would elevate them to high positions in the army, allowing them to earn enough money to improve their lives.
Kimiko seductive figure was accentuated by her blonde hair cascading down to her curved waist. The half skirt she wore elegantly revealed her smooth, shaved legs. Her legs were spotless white and so smooth that if you were to put an ice cube on them, it would glide without friction, leaving a trail of water that evaporated due to the heat of her legs. The curves of her chest emphasized the school dress shirt, adding to the allure of her figure. Dark eyes adorned with black liner exuded a captivating charm, while her lips were adorned with red lipstick.
"Kimiko," Odion's voice carried a soothing allure, "What are you doing here? You shouldn't be around. If Cyrus sees us together, he'll bully us both." Odion expressed concern, fearing that if Cyrus caught them together, it would spark rumors and make them the targets of bullying.
"Shhh," Kimiko hushed him, placing her finger on his lips to signal silence. The gentle touch of her finger made Odion's cheeks turn pink. "Let's go to the rooftop. I have a surprise for you," she winked, her enticing demeanor suggesting an air of mystery and excitement.
As Odion found himself in the presence of his childhood best friend, whose touch made him feel shy and anxious, a rush of emotions overwhelmed him. His heart began to race, and a noticeable pink hue adorned his cheeks.
The words he wanted to utter seemed trapped, unable to escape his lips. The anxiety of her touch consumed his mind, leaving him nervously chuckling as a physical manifestation of his internal turmoil. His body betrayed a mix of shyness, attraction, and the struggle to articulate his feelings in her presence.
He rose from his chair and followed her as she walked ahead, leading him to the rooftop of the school. The anticipation and curiosity filled the air as they ascended the stairs, which would take them to the roof.
"Kimiko, what's the surprise? Why are we going to the roof?" Odion questioned in a low voice, his tone reflecting a mix of shyness and nervousness. The feelings he harbored for Kimiko inside his heart evident in his interactions with her, making it difficult for him to express himself openly.
But she did not respond, only chuckling. Odion couldn't see the expression on her face directly as she was in front of him, holding his hand as they ascended the stairs to reach the rooftop of the school. However, from the side view, a grin adorned her face. Her lips were stretched wide, and her eyes reflected a hint of the cunning and mischief concealed in her heart.
