Chapter 5: "Echoes of Revolution: The Conquest and Strategic Challenges"
The revolutionary army entered the city, and an air of desolation dominated its atmosphere. The city, chosen by the royal army as the hub for its operations against the revolutionary forces, bore the scars of conflict. Consequently, it had taken on an almost ghostly quality.
A group of people emerged to witness this army, their eyes revealing everything. Their eyes spoke of despair and the hardships of life. The army marched through the crowd, heading towards the city square.
They reached the city square, and the army assembled as the overall commander prepared to address them. Climbing the platform, he said, "Dear comrades, I thank you for standing by my side and trusting me today. We have successfully captured our first city, and I assure you it won't be the last. We will continue the fight until we bring down the king from his throne. Now, let's start setting up the tents."
Everyone in the army shouted in unison, "Long live the General, long live the resistance!"
In the palace the discussion began about the next step. Dimitry stated, "Now, we cannot continue the attack for several reasons, including the army's size not exceeding 42,000 and the wounded numbering 10,000. I believe it's necessary to send scouting units to assess the situation and start building the city's defenses. If we don't do that, we won't be ready for a siege battle."
Everyone in the room was already aware of the situation; therefore, Dimitry took charge of resolving all the issues.
After two days, a soldier entered the strategy office and said, "Sir, the royal army has built three defensive lines 20km away to prevent our advance. It seems these defenses are challenging to breach and resemble the Great Wall of China."
Dmitri looked at the soldier and thought to himself, "It seems the king is starting to move again."
The soldier bowed and said, "We await your orders, sir."
Dmitri confidently replied, "Continue sweeping the area, and tell the secretary to bring me all the documents related to the city. I must initiate the counter-attack."
