Chapter 12: Chapter 12 here?
Jasmine Everly's P O V
"Jasmine! You can do it!" I whispered as I stared at the immense building in front of me before entering.
I was so strong when I left my home, but the moment I got here, the thought of meeting him again made me so stressed.
Do I really have to go and meet him here?! Can't I just go back to my office and tell him that I will do everything he asks for in my own office?!
I took a long sigh and whispered, "No! I shouldn't let him think that I am scared or running away from him! I am strong, and I don't care about him! So I should face him! And moreover, this is nothing but work."
I took my first step inside the building and walked up to the front desk and asked, " Hello, I am Jasmine Everly, and I am supposed to meet Mr. Donovan today."
She didn't respond but stared at me for a few uncomfortable seconds and then replied, "Sorry, but Mr. Donovan never meets anyone in the office, and it is hard to believe you without an appointment."
My eyes widen a little, feeling embarrassed, and I then give her a smile, saying, "I don't have an appointment, but I am here to work. Mr. Donovan asked me to report to him today. You could call and ask them. My name is Jasmine Everly."
"Sorry, Ms. Everly, but we never got any information regarding your... work? But if you say that Mr. Donovan himself appointed you for the work, then you should call and ask them. We are not supposed to call them if it is not important." She replied with a smile, still looking at me like I was some crazy woman.
It is so embarrassing! He didn't tell me anything other than to report today!
I returned her smile and took out my phone, not sure if he was using the same number, and dialed it.
To my surprise, I heard the ring, and it made me both nervous and relieved.
"You are late, Ms. Everly." I heard his voice behind me, and my breath hatched.
I forced the limp down my throat and ended the call, turning to him and saying, "I am not, Mr. Danovan. I was on time, but I am here because someone forgot to inform the front desk that I would be here." I stared straight into his eyes, not letting him see my nervousness.
He turned to another man beside him and asked, "Didn't you inform them?".
"Boss, the front desk on the 100th floor has been informed." He replied like it was nothing.
"But how should I know any of that?" I asked in irritation, feeling people's eyes on us.
Sabastian's eyes bore down at me for a few seconds, and then he turned to look at the woman on the front desk and ordered, "She is going to work for a month here from now on, so let her in."
"Yes, boss," she replied, nodding her head.
"Now let's go," he simply said, and he started to walk across me with his personal assistant.
I took a sigh and assured myself by saying, "You can do it!".
Then I followed them to an elevator where all the other employees stopped to give him the space, and I slipped in with him without letting any employees notice me.
But the moment I am in, everyone's eyes are on him and then me while they greet him and stare at me like I am some alien. I just gave them a smile as the door closed.
"From tomorrow on, you can directly report to the 100th floor." He informs, staring at the screen.
"I observed that Mr. Donovan's assistant just used his card to open this elevator, and I don't have any to do that, Mr. Donovan," I replied, staring at the screen like him without any reaction.
He turned his face to me the next second, but I didn't look. I can feel his eyes boring down at me in anger, but I didn't care as I laughed in my head while keeping a poker face.
"Mark, give her a guest card, as she won't be working here for long," he replied, pissed, and then turned back to the screen, waiting for the elevator to arrive soon.
My lips curled into a smile as I felt really good seeing him pissed because of me. He pissed me off yesterday, and I am not going to let him do any of that today. I am prepared and will never let him cross the line.
It took us quite a while to reach the 100th floor, which is also the last floor. He got out first, followed by me and then Mark, his assistant.
"Good morning, Boss." 2 ladies stood behind a huge desk and greeted him with a smile.
He just nods his head and walks as those ladies' eyes land on me.
They were confused for a second, and before I could say anything.
Mark steps up and informs the ladies, "She is Ms. Everly, and she is going to work here for the next month, so take care of her."
They both nodded their heads at the same time and gave me a smile, and I did the same.
"Fellow me," Sabastian orders, and he walks to a huge door. I was confused for a second because I thought Mark was going to take me to my working table but why has Sabastian asked me to follow him?
I stopped overthinking, just nodded my head, and followed to the huge door.
He got in, and I did follow behind him, alone with him.
"You are going to start your work there. " He points out a small desk with a computer and some papers.
My eyes widen in shock as I turn around to check on this room. This is his office, and he is asking me to work ...here?
