Chapter 5: Chapter 5

After resting and cleaning himself, Lucas went to the dining room for breakfast. His parents and siblings, barring his second brother, were already there. His focus went to Liliya, who still looked mad because he didn't want to give time to play with her. He chuckled inwardly at that.

"Good morning," Lucas greeted them as he activated EoO.

'Whoa, their attributes are impressive!' He did know that his parents were strong, but seeing their attributes as proof of their strength was a whole different thing.

'Mom's attributes in the magic category have already reached their peak, but her tier is still 5.'

According to the information he obtained, those who had mana and magic above 63 usually advanced to tier 6. His mother had surpassed the threshold, so the reason she had not yet advanced might be due to a lack of enlightenment. The same applied to his father. He was supposed to reach tier 7, but there seemed to be something blocking him. He then checked his older sister.

She wasn't doing poorly either, being the third person with the highest mana and magic attributes in this family. It seemed that if she did well, she had the potential to reach tier 7.

.

"Morning," his mother replied with a warm smile. "How was your exercise?"

"Tiring," Lucas replied with a soft sigh.

"That's to be expected. But you must hold on, it will be beneficial for you in the future," his mother said, and Lucas nodded. He wouldn't disagree with that.

"Father, Mother, I would like to request something."

"What is it, dear?"

"I would like to go to the Magic Tower," he stated, earning curious looks from his parents and siblings.

The Magic Tower was the center of mages, and every kingdom had one. To access the Magic Tower, they had to be at least tier 3 and become members. If not, they required permission from the members of the Magic Tower. His parents and older siblings had permission to go there because they were members of the Magic Tower.

"You wish to read the archives," his father pointed out.

"Yes, it will be immensely helpful for my research," he explained. The Magic Tower's archives contained a lot of knowledge that could not be easily accessed by the public.

"But you do know that you can't bring them back home? Surely you don't mean to stay in the tower every day," Rosaline commented dryly.

"Of course not, don't worry about it." Nobody was allowed to take the books out of the tower, but that wouldn't be a problem for Lucas since he had EoO. Truly, EoO would become a tool for the biggest information heist ever.

"It seems you are confident that you can finish what you want to read there," his mother commented. "Very well. I shall accompany you there for a week."

Hearing that, Lucas beamed with excitement. "Thank you, Mother."

"Also, do you wish to visit the academy as well?" The academy, Maguza Academy, was not far from the tower. Lucas had no reason to refuse. After all, he might as well visit his second brother there. Also, while the academy didn't have an extensive library like the Magic Tower's archive, or even more so, the Royal Library and nothing was interesting aside from the library, he might be able to gain insight while touring the academy.

"I would like that."

"I also want to go too!" Liliya exclaimed, her eyes conveying that she wouldn't accept an answer less than "yes".

"Of course, Lili can come with us," their mother didn't object. Liliya felt joy as she pumped both of her fists, earning smiles from her siblings and parents.

After breakfast, Lucas went to the library and took his time scouring every book. It might seem like he was merely glancing at each page, but he was actually recording every single context available. And when he finished going through every book, he gained another ability to use EoO. It was the ability to draw a correlation with the knowledge he had obtained. For example, knowledge about alchemy and knowledge about flora and fauna would now correlate with each other. When he attempted to make a potion, EoO would provide him with a list of necessary ingredients and how to obtain them. However, it didn't stop there. The knowledge of flora and fauna might also be correlated with knowledge of life skills and such. This would be incredibly helpful if he aimed to conduct research by shortening his time to go through materials.

It was unfortunate that there was no tome in the library. A tome is what a magical book is called. Reading a tome with mana would directly impart the knowledge to the reader, allowing them to acquire the necessary skills easily. However, this comes at the cost of the reader's mana and mentality. At worst, if not handled carefully, it could even lead to the reader's death if they weren't adequately prepared. His curiosity about reading a tome stemmed from wondering what would happen if he used EoO on it. Would it function similarly to his experience with a normal book or would it also record magical aspects of the encounter?

By the time he finished going through all the books in the library, it was already noon, and he went to have lunch. Afterward, Lucas engaged in meditation. Thanks to the knowledge he had about entering a meditative state more efficiently and properly circulating his mana, his mana cultivation became much faster. However, this was only achieved through numerous trials and errors.

After completing his meditation, he could feel his mana had increased, and even his attributes reflected the change, rising from 5 to 6. It was a modest increase, but an increase nonetheless. It would be a lie to say he was satisfied with this, but one thing he had learned was the importance of patience. Rushing things didn't contribute to building a solid foundation.

After meditation and dinner, Lucas delved into his research, starting with an attempt to create a spell scroll. To craft a spell scroll, he needed a suitable material like good paper, parchment, or papyrus that could conduct magic. Typically, this paper was made from magical ingredients such as a magical beast's skin or magical plants. Lucas didn't have any shortage of such materials, and his family could afford to purchase plenty of them.

Next, he needed to excel at creating magical diagrams and runes by channeling his mana into the ink. This ink also had to be a special kind that could conduct mana. Drawing the diagrams and placing the runes were crucial, and he had to be meticulous to avoid creating a defective or different product. It sounded easy, but in reality, it was challenging. Lucas had to channel his mana carefully to avoid accidentally activating the unfinished product and ruining the spell scroll. Since he couldn't even cast magic, this was fine, but he didn't want to risk facing any potential backlash if the curse deemed that he used magic.

After two hours of careful work, he finally completed his first spell scroll.

"Wow …. That's to be expected but it is still hurtful to see how bad I am," Lucas remarked. He had anticipated this outcome as he was copying a drawing of the Fire Torch Spell from a book with a grade of C-rank. The reason his own scroll received an E-rank was due to rushing, and there were inconsistencies in drawing the diagrams and runes, and a non-proportional amount of mana channeled.

"Well, let's practice again and again then!"
