Chapter 16: William Verley (1)

Lilly raised her eyebrows in surprise hearing about the curse. Why didn't she know that something like that exists?

Of course, she didn't believe that such a curse exists; there must be something else going on. A grin appeared on her face as she dismissed the young woman.

Lilly turned to look at the quest board and took out a D-Rank quest, in which she had to kill a wild boar.

She then went towards the receptionist where William had finished submitting his quest. It was probably a low-rank quest as he got only a few bronze coins.

He didn't look disappointed, though; he was already used to everything here. The stares, mockery, the insults, he was used to everything here.

He sighed and turned to exit the Adventurers Guild. He wanted some rest after completing the mission.

But before he could take a step forward, his gaze landed on the most beautiful face he had ever seen. He was mesmerized, words stuck in his mouth, and his breathing hitched. He could hear his heartbeat rising rapidly.

Though It wasn't just the face that made him like this; what drew him in were those eyes of the lady. Mischief swirling around in those eyes, he could also see cheerfulness in them. Yet above all these, the thing he noticed was that those eyes were firm, resolute, and strong, as if nothing can break them.

He was drawn into those alluring green eyes. He couldn't help himself but drown in them.

Suddenly he felt a chill run down his whole body as he took a step back in fear. He didn't know what it was but he felt fear, or rather his bloodline felt fear. He could see it clearly that his bloodline was afraid of something.

He was shocked at that fact, so shocked that he forgot about the beautiful lady. This had never happened before, not even when he was facing his maternal grandfather. His bloodline was so powerful, and he knew it.

Ever since he had got this unknown bloodline two years ago, he had never felt fear. Since even his grandfather couldn't make his Bloodline fearful, he thought it was the most powerful.

But now those thoughts had vanished, and only wariness remained.

He raised his head and looked at the beautiful lady in front of him. His messy hair tried to block his vision but he could see her clearly.

He knew that the fear he or rather his bloodline felt was coming from this lady. He became wary and put his guard up, even though he knew it was pointless. Considering how this lady could put fear on his powerful bloodline, he knew if she wanted to attack him, he would be unable to resist.

'Did father send her? But that's impossible; he wouldn't have such powerful people under him. The same goes for grandfather, then who is she, and what is she doing in this town? Is she just passing by?' Several questions messed with William's mind.

Lilly got confused for a moment seeing the look William was giving her. First appreciation and now wariness? What was going on with this guy?

Shaking those thoughts off, she went over to the receptionist. It was the same woman who served her. She tried to smile at Lilly but her attempts obviously failed.

"Hello, you said I'll get my Adventurers ID card tomorrow, so how about this, you note this quest down for now. I'll do this quest with this cursed boy, and you can later register it on my card. How about it?" Lilly asked as she gave the quest paper to the woman.

The woman nodded as she took the quest paper. It wasn't that big of a deal, so she didn't have any problems with it. She was actually thankful that Lilly wasn't forcing her to do something crazy.

William came out of his stupor hearing the conversation and tried to persuade Lilly, "Hey, miss..."

"Shhh, we'll talk about it later." Lilly put a finger on her lips and said with a smile on her face.

William nodded and turned silent. He simply waited while seeing Lilly talking a bit more with the receptionist.

After some time, Lilly was finally finished, so she said, "Thanks for the help. I'll come tomorrow to get the card."

After bidding her farewell, Lilly turned around to face William. Still smiling, she said, "Let's go." After saying that, she walked towards the exit door.

William sighed and began to follow her. Today was a weird day for him; he experienced so many emotions and even got to know that even his powerful bloodline felt fear.

All because of the girl walking in front of him. He was honestly surprised when no one stopped her from taking a quest with him.

Since everyone knew that whoever joined him would die, they tried to warn anyone new or strong trying to join him. They always persuaded those guys, so why didn't they say anything to this girl?

He found their reaction too strange; was this girl someone related to the Adventurers Guild? If that's the case, then he could understand why she was so powerful.

Both Lilly and William walked in the streets of Cowe Town, each having their thoughts. They didn't talk and walked by keeping some distance between them.

"I know you have many questions, but you're in no condition to talk." Lilly said. "You stink. So first, we'll go to the inn and make you somewhat decent."

William smiled wryly; he couldn't say anything as even he didn't like his looks. But he had to do it so that he remains an outcast.

They then didn't talk on the way as William simply followed Lilly. While talking, Dave had also told about the best Inn in the town, Moonlight Inn. She was taking him there.

Soon they reached the two-story high inn. William was surprised and looked at Lilly in confusion.

Lilly smiled and entered the inn.
