Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Types

I took the cup in my hands and couldn't help but comment, "I thought it would be blood. I mean... Didn't we have issues with human food?"

Nephelia gently held her cup. "We vampires don't have a problem with coffee," she explained before taking a sip.

"Our physiology allows us to consume coffee, even though blood is our main source of sustenance." She lifted her chin proudly, making me laugh, and said, "But I've refused to drink any blood other than yours. In fact, since my birth, I've survived on this drink."

I looked at her in surprise. I knew that in vampire stories, they only drank blood. Yet here was Nephelia, sipping coffee and having only recently tasted mine. Somehow, my affection for her grew even stronger.

With her in my lap, I softly stroked her hair as I smiled and sipped my coffee.

"It's delicious. My taste buds have no complaints," I thought to myself while I savored the pleasant aroma.

"For a vampire, blood is the source of energy and nutrients that keep our bodies balanced. Not consuming it can lead to weakness."

"I see..." I felt my heart constrict. She had given up her nature by waiting for me, risking her own health. "I'm sorry for causing you such suffering."

She shook her head and placed the cup on the table before turning to face me, straddling my lap. "It's not your fault; it was my choice. I simply wanted to drink the blood of my darling."

Nephelia mustered a faint smile and leaned closer, brushing her lips against my neck. "Your blood has made me stronger than I expected. I've heard that other vampires or humans don't have the same high-quality blood as yours. Thanks to you, I've been able to regain strength I had been losing for quite some time."

I shrugged nonchalantly. "Honestly, I didn't imagine vampires would be like that either."

She raised an eyebrow, looking puzzled. "Mm? What do you mean?"

I pondered for a moment before sharing my observations. "That werewolf mentioned that vampires are weak to sunlight. But I can stroll around under the sun without any issues."

Contrary to what movies depict, I didn't disintegrate into glowing dust under sunlight. Instead, I simply felt a tingling discomfort beneath my skin.

Upon hearing this, Nephelia's eyes widened slightly, though she remained silent to allow me to continue speaking.

"I also don't have any aversion to holy water or Jesus Christ's cross. Although, that peculiar cross the man was carrying seemed to have an effect on me," I calmly explained. "As for garlic, it doesn't bother me either."

Of course, garlic, like all other human foods except coffee, disgusted me. But you know, I was referring to the fear of garlic as portrayed in movies, not its unpleasant taste.

I recounted to Nephelia all the strange experiences I had encountered while spending the day at home.

At that time, I was convinced I was a werewolf since I didn't possess the weaknesses of vampires. But here I was, turning out to be a vampire instead...

The thought suddenly sent a shiver down my spine. What if I ended up disintegrating into glowing powder like in the movies?! Hey, that's terrifying!

Nephelia lifted her head from my neck and locked her gaze with mine.

"Just as I suspected. You're different from other vampires, Damien. You're truly special."

"Huh? Can you explain?"

She adjusted herself more comfortably on my lap, shifting her ass until she found the perfect spot. With a contented sigh, she nodded and began her explanation.

"You see, vampires have a significant weakness to sunlight. They can dissolve upon contact with its rays, just like you've seen in the movies."

Holy crap! I audibly swallowed, realizing I could have been incinerated without even knowing it!

Despite my inner panic, I continued to listen attentively to Nephelia's explanation.

"It is true that some vampires can withstand sunlight. But first, I need to talk about the different types within our kind."

"Different types?"

Nephelia nodded. "There are fundamental differences between Pureblood Vampires, also known as Noble Vampires, and commoners."

She continued. "The Purebloods have the ability to create new vampires, while the commoners lack such power. We Nobles are also distinguished by Hierarchies. For instance, I am a Vampire Viscountess. Those of us who hold the title of Viscount or higher possess greater power and can withstand sunlight."

"In addition to Nobles and Commoners, there are also rare cases of hybrids," Nephelia calmly added. "But we can delve into that topic later, once you have grasped the basics."

I listened attentively to her explanation, occasionally nodding in understanding. However, one aspect piqued my curiosity the most.

"Does this mean I'm a noble vampire too?"

Nephelia seemed to ponder it carefully.

"It's a complex question. Normally, when a being is transformed by a noble vampire, the new vampire will be a commoner."

She paused before continuing, "but your tolerance to sunlight... and a strength that surpasses that of commoners. It makes you an anomaly. To truly determine if you are a Noble, it would need to be established whether you can ascend in the Hierarchy."

"Alright. So how can I ascend in the Hierarchy?"

Nephelia appeared to struggle internally, contemplating whether or not to provide an answer. She let out a soft sigh before speaking:

"To increase your standing in the Hierarchy, you would need to absorb the accumulated power of a Noble Vampire throughout their existence."

"And how am I supposed to do that, should I sink my precious fangs into their necks?" The idea didn't sit well with me.

With Nephelia's delicious blood, I figured I didn't need any other blood anymore.

She shook her head and continued, "When a Pureblood Vampire dies, it leaves behind a highly concentrated sphere of blood. Drinking that blood would allow you to determine if you truly possess noble lineage."

She paused and added, "However, I wouldn't recommend it due to the risks involved."

"Why?"

Her expression turned serious. "Because a commoner vampire consuming that blood could completely lose their sanity."

"I don't want anything like that to happen to you," she said, hugging me protectively. "No. I won't let that happen to you!"

"Hey! What are you doing? Wait!" I exclaimed in confusion.

Before I could protest further, she pushed me down onto the couch, and I felt a tingling sensation in my neck. She had sunk her fangs in to take a sip of my blood.

Nephelia's soft moans of satisfaction filled the air as I caressed her petite back, reveling in the pleasure coursing through her. My excitement grew with each kiss I planted on her pale neck.

As she drank my blood, I couldn't resist the urge to suck on every inch of her neck, savoring the taste of her. I then firmly gripped Nephelia's butt, concealed beneath her gothic dress.

Surprisingly, despite Nephelia's petite figure and small breasts, her ass was perfectly shaped, fitting perfectly in the palm of my hand as I indulged in the lustful sensation of sinking my fingers into her flesh.

A muffled moan escaped her lips, but she didn't stop drinking. After she finished, she carefully licked the wound before gently biting my ear.

Nephelia's hot, heavy breath caressed my cheeks. Feeling her soft ass teasingly rubbing against my growing arousal, I couldn't help but become even more excited. I felt her panties getting wet and staining my own groin.

"Hah~ Damien... Your blood is delicious..." she whispered, licking my face.

"Take it easy, woman."

"... Okay." She pouted cutely and settled herself on my lap with a noble air. A faint blush still adorned her cheeks as she wiggled her ass.

I could only let out a sigh. 'This girl... if she keeps teasing me like this, I won't be able to control my desires.'

Nephelia still dared to continue brazenly, "Anyway, Damien, if you're seeking strength, you don't necessarily have to increase your Hierarchy. While a higher Hierarchy can boost a vampire's power, there's another way to become strong."

"Oh? And what's that?" I asked instantly, intrigued.

As she pointed out, I yearned to grow stronger. I had entered a supernatural world, and it was only a matter of time before I encountered new problems.

The man in that bizarre church who had attempted to kill me was a clear example. If not for my regenerative ability or the skill I acquired at a crucial moment, I would have died.

In this world, strength was crucial for survival.

"The other way is through the... Pathway!"
