Chapter 38: Pardon my manners
Kael was seen slowly moving through the dense woods inside a dense forest as he carefully surveyed his surroundings while sitting on his horse.
"Creepy place to live at..." Kael muttered as he noticed a dark mansion in the middle of the forest. At a glance, it was a dark, spooky place, on the verge of collapse due to no repairs for who knows how many years.
But even then, the shadow of the once-great, grandiose mansion still loomed. Kael slowly dismounted from his horse and carefully opened the rusted, old metal gates. He entered the dried-out garden in front of the mansion, stepping over those dry woods and leaves fallen on the ground, until Kael arrived in front of the mansion's gates.
*Any particular reason you took this quest?*
"Well, of course," Kael replied to Lucifel's question as he placed his horse outside and started to take out his weapons, preparing for a potential fight.
*What reason?*
Lucifel questioned, hearing Kael glance at him while slowly opening the mansion's doors.
"You said to evolve my horse; you will need some ingredients, right? A Necromancy scroll, a dark corruption scroll, a few blood crystals, Orcs Blood, and..."
*Vampire's Blood...*
Kael nodded with a grin as he entered the mansion. As he entered, the mansion was a dark hall with all sorts of things covered in white cloth, a dark place untouched for years, or at least that's how it appeared to ordinary people.
"What a luxurious place hidden in the woods..." Kael scoffed. His pupils shone lightly, seeing right through the illusion. The hall that seemed dark and untouched for years suddenly turned into a first-class luxury, with all sorts of designs and art adorning the walls, and shining, cool equipment everywhere, looking no less than a noble's mansion itself.
"My~ I don't remember asking for any guests..."
Kael's gaze moved upwards as he heard a new, unfamiliar yet creepy voice. The sun had already set, so except for the figure under the moonlight, it was difficult to see anything more.
"I invited myself in! Pardon my lack of manners..."
Kael just scoffed and tightened his grip on his axe. At the same time, Lucifel, beside him, looked a bit surprised as he noticed the face of the figure in front of Kael wearing a red dark shirt, along with a black suit like a noble, with two glowing red pupils in the dark, while standing at the top of the stairs.
"I will pardon that rudeness since you seem to look like a barbarian, but... how dare you disturb me inside my mansion!!!"
As he roared, the air around the mansion suddenly changed, and Kael could sense everything inside the mansion trembling and shaking from the mere pressure of mana inside the room.
"Aren't you getting a bit too crazy there..." Kael scoffed, and his aura surged through all his weapons as he glared ahead, causing the pressure exerted by him to also rise immensely.
"Hah! How dare an invader get so daring!!!"
The figure roared again, and at the same time, thunder started to roar outside. Under the momentary light of the thunder, Kael noticed the face of that vampire hiding in the dark, revealing its dark fangs.
"As expected! You were indeed here!!!" Kael roared, and without taking any chances, Kael immediately rushed toward the vampire with a gigantic leap, swinging both axes toward the vampire.
"A mere human dares to fight a Count Rank Vampire? Crazy bastard!!!" The vampire also roared as he grabbed both of Kael's arms, but as his eyes looked over his face again, Kael was seen swinging the hand-sized axe he was holding toward the vampire's teeth.
"Agh!"
The vampire received a deep wound on his side, near the corner of his eyes. Kael grinned as his left hand was released due to the shocked vampire. Kael didn't waste the opportunity and immediately smashed his axe over the vampire's shoulders, though he couldn't make a deep wound.
"Damn! This cocky human bastard! Really thinking he can act all wild just because of petty tricks! Let me show you the difference!" The vampire suddenly roared, and the blood that had flowed from his wounds started to float and take the shape of sharp needles, pointing toward Kael.
"Now! Die!!!"
As the vampire roared, all the blood needles rushed towards Kael. However, Kael just scoffed, and all the blood needles suddenly stopped in mid-air.

"Thank you for the gift..." Kael grinned as the blood needles started to shake and moved in the direction of the vampire.
"Bastard! How could you!!!"
"Petty tricks..." Kael scoffed and directed his mana towards controlling the blood needles in mid-air. However, in the next second, the vampire increased his pressure even more, and all the blood needles immediately moved back towards Kael and rushed towards him like bullets.
"Shit!" Kael jumped and barely dodged the attack, turning the ground he had been standing on into smithereens due to the onslaught of blood needles.
"He is a Tier 6 Vampire himself... you can't win in terms of mana control..."
'I was just trying to act cool.'
Kael sighed, and as his eyes flashed again, he threw his main axe towards the vampire. It was an immensely fast and powerful move, but the vampire easily dodged it with absolute ease and looked back at Kael coldly.
"Motherfucker! Don't look at me like that, or you might fall in love at this rate! Hahahaha!" Kael scoffed and, in the next moment, threw dozens of hand axes towards the vampire while still in mid-air.
"Kugh!" The vampire was caught off guard, and in the end, he was left with a deep cut beside his cheeks. Kael noticed a grin flash over the vampire's face.
"Wanna cry now?!" Kael smirked and, using his full force, struck the vampire with his secondary axe, but the vampire blocked the axe with his crossed arms.
"Argh!!!" Even though he blocked it, he was pushed to the ground by the force Kael had just used. As his gaze moved again over to Kael, a cold chill flashed over his face.
"How daring of you... really too daring! To think you have enough ignorance and arrogance to blind you to the difference between you and me!!! I'm a Vampire Count! A being comparable to dragons!!!!"
"Lol, that's what you call arrogance? Really daring of you to compare yourself with dragons!" Kael scoffed. He grabbed his first axe stuck in the ground and pulled it back, managing to form a deep wound on the vampire's legs.
"Aaaaahhhhhh!!!" The vampire was stunned for a moment, and taking advantage of that moment, Kael inflicted over a dozen wounds all over his body, forming several deep gashes throughout.
The vampire immediately retreated, and the wings at his waist extended as he floated mid-air, emitting a tremendous aura. While pointing towards Kael with blood-red eyes, he screamed, "You... enough!!! To think you will be this arrogant! I'm a Vampire Count! Dare to be so audacious as to challenge me! I will show you the difference!!!"
