Chapter 61: Ending: 2 (Prophecy second part: Ken)

When Masaru opened his eyes, he could feel the power surging within him. Filled with anger, he held the power of the gods in his hands. "Kenshin..." Kenshin was no more. He had completely submerged himself into darkness. Now, Masaru was the only reality. Although he felt saddened by this situation, as he felt the power coursing through the gods within him, his sorrow faded away. His anger had returned. The reason behind Makoto trapping him in darkness had resurfaced. "HAHAHAA FINALLY, EVERYONE WILL PAY THE PRICE." His father's images and what they had done to him filled him with rage as he looked at Yu beneath him, and crushed his head. Yu seemed to take his last breath without even reaching out to him.

"Kenshin, stop." Makoto's voice halted Masaru before he could leap. As Masaru turned to Makoto, Makoto's eyes glimmered with fury. "What have you done to Kenshin?" Makoto marched towards Masaru without hesitation. Masaru smiled. He could kill her as easily as she came. After all, Kenshin was no more. Smiling at Makoto, he watched her approach without doing anything. When Makoto came close, he swiftly swung his arm, but before his arm could touch Makoto, it was halted by a force.

'LET MAKOTO GO.' This voice wasn't Kenshin's. Kenshin couldn't wake up that quickly. It was Ken. Masaru was filled with astonishment. How could someone as weak as Ken handle him? 'I said let Makoto go." Masaru's arm was quickly flung backward. As Masaru was thrown back, Makoto, taking advantage of the situation, punched him to the ground. Masaru couldn't control himself. "LET ME GO!" Ken never allowed Masaru to take control. Meanwhile, Makoto kept punching Masaru relentlessly. "Give Kenshin back." Masaru hated them both. "LET ME GO!" After forcefully pushing Makoto off him, Masaru grabbed two swords. He was going to cut Makoto down with both swords.

'Easy, Masaru.' Masaru's eyes opened. The swords meant to cut Makoto were moving towards his own neck. 'I won't allow you to betray Kenshin.' Masaru was being defeated by his seemingly weak opponent. "No, no, no, no, no, no, no..." The swords were getting closer and closer. Masaru was about to meet his end. He couldn't protect himself using his power. Ken's control over him was much stronger. He couldn't understand how this was still happening when Kenshin was supposed to have obliterated Ken.

Seeing the events unfold, Makoto smiled. "Press on, Ken, bring me my Kenshin." However, as the swords approached Masaru's throat, Ken understood what he was trying to do. "NO, STOP!"

"I'm sorry, Makoto. Maybe I can't bring Kenshin back, but I can protect this realm from chaos." After fully taking control, Ken used the twin swords to slit his own throat. Witnessing this scene, Makoto fell to her knees. "K-Kenshin..." She didn't want to accept the sight before her. "KENSHIN, NO." She rushed to the fallen body on the ground. "Kenshin..." Tears mixed with Kenshin's blood as they fell to the ground. "I'm so sorry, Kenshin. I'm sorry I was late." She tightly embraced Kenshin's neck. She had lost the most precious person in her life.

"Here lies our hero, Kenshin... Kenshin Okumi." Master Shen had brought the large crowd to Kenshin's grave. "This hero grew up in a dark place but always had a steadfast purpose, to become a hero. He wanted to make his mother proud. And he did, sacrificing himself for us. He vanquished the darkness in Seiren. Now, thanks to him, we can all continue our lives in peace."

The crowd was somber. They began to leave flowers at Kenshin's grave, one by one, along with his mother's grave. The graves were covered with flowers.

"I'm sorry, Kenshin... I'm sorry, Amy... I only wanted to heal Seiren. I never anticipated such things happening. I'm deeply sorry." Kazou started to shed tears as he approached their graves. He was filled with regret. "I'm so sorry. To both of you..."

"Come on, Kazou, there are many more people to see." Master Shen patted Kazou's back and helped him to his feet. Kazou nodded and left the graves behind.

"When I first saw you, I knew you were a good person. You were not like Masaru. You were truly filled with hope. Rest in peace, Kenshin Okumi." Anton left his flower and walked away from the graves, then Master Shen stepped forward again. "Let's leave these wonderful two in their peaceful slumber now. Next is our other hero, Yasushi, and he was my only student..."

After the crowd dispersed with Master Shen, Makoto approached the graves. "Don't worry, Mrs. Amy, I promise I won't look at anyone other than your son." Makoto choked up again as she said this and laid on top of the graves. She missed Kenshin terribly.

As time passed, all the people came together and united. Kenshin had succeeded. The dream of a peaceful Seiren had come true. To honor the great hero who made it happen, the people erected a statue of him in the city square.

"Sis, sis, who's this guy?" The little boy, surrounded by his group, looked up at Makoto. Smiling at her group, Makoto brought her finger to her cheek and began to think. After a moment of contemplation, she leaned down beside the children and started to caress their hair. "This man, who is he? Hmm..." Makoto thought for a while and then smiled at the children. "He's the grandson of the old bearded master we lost, Kenshin Okumi..."

"Wow, sis, Okumi? Is that your last name? Are you related to this guy?"

"Yes, little Thresa... actually, it was more than just being related. He was my hero."

"Woah, that must be amazing."

"Yeah, kids, it definitely was..." After smiling at the children, Makoto looked at the massive statue of Kenshin. "I love you, my Hero." Her love for Kenshin had never faded.
