Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Exploring The System
Jinsoo couldn't believe his eyes as the system unexpectedly popped up right in front of him.
"No need to get excited; you still have a few things to know about," it explained.
The system told him about the quest system. "If you complete a quest, you are rewarded with points. Sometimes, you might even receive a special skill as a reward," it elaborated.
"You mentioned I could buy skills, right? Where can I find them?" Jinsoo inquired.
The System pointed out a button for the shop system in the top right corner. "It's shiny, so it's not hard to miss," it added.
It further explained that he could buy skills based on his stats. "If you're overall strong, you can buy stronger skills. It's vice versa when you're weak," it clarified.
Jinsoo pressed the button on the top right corner.
As the system changed, it now displayed "Shop".
Jinsoo saw many skills, including cooking, shooting (basketball), and others.
As he looked further, one skill caught his eye.
"Ultra Instinct? What the hell... There's some Goku stuff in here," he muttered.
As he clicked on Ultra Instinct, he was asked if he would like to buy it.
"The hell? The system mentioned before that the skills I buy are based on my stats," he remarked.
"So why am I allowed to buy this thing... Maybe a bug in the system, I guess?"
Jinsoo pressed 'Yes', but he was met with an error message.
"Insufficient Points. Need 1000 Points to buy," it stated.
"Oh, right. I've spent all my points on my stats," Jinsoo realized.
"Well, is there a way to know how this 'Ultra Instinct' works? I'm curious if there's a description," he wondered aloud.
Jinsoo examined Ultra Instinct further and eventually found its description. It read:
"Ultra Instinct is a state of unconsciousness that can be unlocked by having an incredibly large amount of experience fighting and having the will to fight deep-rooted into your consciousness. It's a battle-oriented state of mind that helps you focus more, and characters utilize this in various ways."
Jinsoo wondered, "A state of unconsciousness... Hm... That's quite interesting. So my body will move on its own while being unconscious."
"As of my understanding, Ultra Instinct doesn't make me stronger or faster physically. Instead, it sharpens my vision, focus, and quick thinking. It lets me use all my fighting skills to the fullest, making me react faster, use better techniques, and have sharper senses. While being unconscious."
"This is an interesting skill. I would definitely buy it once I have enough points."
"But my question now is how can I get points? The system said I can get them by completing a quest."
"But where are my quests? Do they automatically just pop out in front of me?"
The System Answered, "You will be given a quest every day. Sometimes there is a time limit, sometimes it's just physical training, so you can just stack them up."
Jinsoo asked, "But where is my quest now?"
The System Replied with just, "You will receive it tomorrow."
After that, Jinsoo went back to lying on the concrete floor.
He thought that the next coming day would be different, and this system could change his life.
Jinsoo slowly closed his eyes as he faded to sleep.
