Lazy ass chapter ngl to you; cuz I'm sick]

"Alright, let's get em to the the rooms. Separate them." I told Pedro, and the others; they nodded and brought them to the interrogation rooms.

I'll spare the the bore, and tell you what we found out.

It turns out that Isaac is a muay thai fighter Alex a bigwig engineer, and Phillips is a doctor. After also finding out that they aren't with the groups we tryna avoid, after asking my trusted people, we agreed to let them stay with us.

We assigned them room; they decided to stay together in one room for some reason...maybe they get freaky together if you know what I mean.

Anyway, let's focus. I'm gonna let them get a bit accustomed here, then I'll assign them their roles. Isaac will obviously get something that has to do with fighting, Phillips will be the doctor, and Alex will join the others to make that sewer.

With that out of the way, today I'm gonna do something more exciting. I haven't done this in quite a while, and I've been getting bored home. I'm gonna go hunting.

I've been getting bored, so I decided to get Daryl, and others who go hunting as well, to rest.

After getting ready in my room, I heard someone speak behind me. Shane.

"Hey Poul." Shane said as he walked in the room. "Mind if I join you to hunt?"

I turned around to face Shane with some surprise evident on my face. His sudden interest in joining me today seemed a bit out of the blue. "Sure." I said with a small smile. "I could use the company."

Shane grinned, a glint in his eyes that made me feel a bit uneasy. But he wouldn't do anything either way. We've been getting along a bit...at least I think so.

Ah, I shouldn't put so much doubt in my mind. It's just gonna make me feel paranoid and give myself anxiety.

Nevertheless, I pushed those thoughts aside and focused on preparing for the hunt.

As we gathered our gear and made our way out of the shelter, I couldn't shake the feeling that Shane had ulterior motives for wanting to come along. But for now, I would keep a close eye on him and hope that my instincts were wrong.

As we headed into the woods, the cool air filled my lungs, as well as the smell of the forest. I kinda missed it.

Shane seemed unusually eager, his eyes scanning the surroundings with a sharp intensity.

As we kept striding among the trees, I enjoyed the sound of nature. Birds, the ones that stayed and didn't go to Africa when cold came, deers in the distance, and dry leave rustling on the branches.

Suddenly, a deer darted into view, its elegant form darting through the trees with grace. Without missing a beat, Shane raised his rifle, and took aim.

But as he took aim, a shadow of doubt flickered across his face—a moment of hesitation that was gone almost as quickly as it appeared. He pulled the trigger, and a bang resounded; the bullet hit the deer's head.

"Good shot." I complimented.

"Thanks." He said simply.

He didn't say anything, so neither did I. We grabbed one of the ropes we brought we us, and tied it up on a tree, high enough so that no walkers can reach it, but low enough so that we can get it back with us.

After a while, we came across the edge of the forest, the view of the drop taking my breath away. "Well, what a goddamn view, huh?" Shane just nodded without saying anything.

Before I could say anything else, a sudden thud hit me in the chest, knocking the wind out of me. I felt myself falling, my screams echoing in the air.

"Shane, you son of a bitch!" I yelled, the betrayal cutting deep.

As I fell fast, I felt a hit on the back of my head, a tall tree's branch, knocking me unconscious.

------//------

"Finally..." Shane said with a relieved sigh.

Before leaving, he decided to spit down after Poul. He cracked his neck, and walked back to the mall with the deer on his shoulder.

Back at the camp, everyone was surprised to see Shane come back alone.

Shane put down the deer from his shoulder, and took off his baseball cap, and rubbed his head a bit before putting his hands on his hips.

"What happened, Shane?" Lee asks, coming forward.

Shane puts on a helpless face, and sighs. "We...while hunting, uh...I'll be shot with his." He wipes sweat off his face. "Walker got him...I couldn't do anything. Before...damn. He told me to bring this back, fast."

Everyone is shocked at the news, but in the back, Carley watching this happening, frowned, as well as Maya. But it's not only the girls; Lee, Kenny, Andrea and Pedro doesn't believe this either.

Just one walker? They feel like they know Poul enough and his capabilities as well enough to know that just a single walker won't be able to get him. It's bullshit.

Almost in unison, they shake their heads, and head to their rooms.

"I...I can't believe it. He died, just like that?" Rick asked in disbelief and doubt.

"That's it...?" Lily asked in disbelief.

"Pfft. As if." Suddenly Pedro spoke up after deciding to not go to his room. "I haven't been here long, but please...as if a single walker could take down him or any of us who have fought against walkers."

"The thief is right." Larry says with a big frown on his face.

"What? You think I'm lying old man?" Shane asks and gets up in Larry's face.

"Yes. That's what Pedro has technically said, dumbass." Larry says, as he gets his arms out of the folded position.

"Hey! Let's calm down!" Rick says as he gets between the two men.

"Yeah, dad. Calm down." Lily says as she pulls Larry back. "Don't forget your heart."
