Chapter 5: chapter five: The Out lands

Nicholas was trying to look calm, but his mind was in turmoil.

"What is going on?" One second Don is there, and the next, another person had appeared.

"Wow, that was quick. What gave it away?" 'Don' said, smiling as he walked towards Nicholas.

As he was moving, sparks of red lightning slithered across his body. "Stay back!" Nicholas shouted as he moved back with every step 'Don' took.

"Now, where is the second box? I just need that, and I'll be out of here," 'Don' said with a smile.

"The second box? What does he need it for? What does it even contain?" Nicholas thought, trying to think, but he was too scared. 'Be calm, Nicholas,' he said to himself. 'If the first box contained that ring that can give power that even bio warriors don't have, then what will the other box contain? No, I absolutely cannot let him have that box, and I need to collect that ring no matter what,' Nicholas thought calmly as he devised a plan to take back the ring.

"So if I give you the other box, you'll leave Don and I alone?" Nicholas asked in a nervous voice.

"Yes, of course. Now, tell me where it is." "Okay, I'll... I'll tell you. It's under my bed over there."

"Okay, lead the way," 'Don' said as he followed after Nicholas. Nicholas got to the bed, took off the strips of clothes to reveal a small hole that was made at the edge of the bed. From it, Nicholas took out the second box.

"Here," he held out the box to Don. But as he was about to collect it, Nicholas did something unexpected. He threw the box in the air and lunged at Don. Considering the fact that Don, although a bit taller, weighed the same as Nicholas, when he lunged at Don, they both fell to the ground, but the lightning on Don's body shot out in all directions, hitting Nicholas and the second box the most.

Furious, 'Don' pushed Nicholas off his body and rushed to the box that was now open. Not too far from the box was a necklace. It had a pendant that looked like a rod of ruby, no bigger than a pinkie finger, had been cut, and a statue of a black snake was coiled around it.

It looked beautiful, but now that ruby rod had a thin crack running along its length.

"No, no, no, no," he murmured as he bent down to pick up the necklace.

"You little piece of shit, look at what you've done! I'll kill you!" 'Don' shouted as he stretched out the hand that had the ring. An oppressive aura hit Nicholas.

"No, you won't," Nicholas said calmly, but his body felt numb all over, and he was finding it hard to move under the aura that 'Don' had released. He was surprised that he had managed to even get up.

He pulled back his left hand, and at the same time, the ring on 'Don's' finger came off.

Earlier, Nicholas had been thinking of a way to remove the ring. The only thing he could think of was using a piece of thread from his clothes to tie the gem on the ring. Although there was a huge chance of the plan failing, he still went ahead with it, and luckily it worked.

The real Don was on the floor, looking at empty air with a blank face while muttering, "The ring, the ring."

Turning to Nicholas, he said, "The ring, give me the ring." in a cold voice, stretching each word while standing up.

"Don, you're not thinking straight, so calm down. Let's talk about this rationally," Nicholas said, maintaining eye contact as he bent down and picked up the ring and the necklace that was behind him.

"Nicholas, give me the ring. I'm doing this for mom and dad. We both know that people who aren't affected by the slumber don't just disappear unless they are killed, and you've seen the power of the ring. We can use it to do things for ourselves and our parents." "No, no you're not. You don't care about mom and dad; you only care about the ring and the power you feel it gives you," Nicholas said, becoming angry.

"No, that's not true. I'm doing this for mom and dad. I'm doing this for us, so please give me the ring."

"No, Don, I'm sorry. I can't do that." "Are you sure?" squinting his eyes, Don began walking towards Nicholas, who kept moving back until his back hit a wall. He was still scared of Don, or to be more precise, the person who had taken over his body.

"Give it to me," Don said through gritted teeth.

" I'm sorry, but I have to do this," Nicholas said with no hint of remorse in his eyes.

"Do wha..." *Bam* Nicholas immediately used an iron pole he had found resting on the wall to hit Don's head, making him pass out. "It's for your own good," Nicholas said as he took up the boxes and put their content back. Then he got up to leave but not before looking at Don one last time, saying, "I don't know why mom and dad left us with this dangerous gift. Even though I know it's impossible to hide this from you, I just hope you never find it." With that, he left. And from that day, he and Don never saw eye to eye.

Shaking his head, Nicholas tried to forget those memories; they were all in the past. Don had found the ring, and Nicholas knew what to use to stop Don, but he was hesitating. Using that 'thing' was risky. While all these thoughts were running through his head, Nicholas had raised the part of his bed that he had hidden the other box in, took it out, raised the lid, and took out the necklace and held it in his hand, not putting it on.

He was afraid that what had happened to Don would happen to him. There were a few minutes left before the sun was blocked by the rift. Seeing this, Nicholas thought,

'It's time,' and with that, he left the building. He had made up his mind to stop his brother the even if it meant killing him.
