Chapter 30: Encounter a Rank-2 Beast
The moment the fruits ripened, Caleb Li dashed toward the tree using his movement skill, the Shadow Steps, to its limit.

In a blink, he had left tens of beasts behind, arriving a couple of feet from the tree. Just as he was about to approach the tree, from his left,
A massive beast jumped toward him, swinging its claw, ready to reap the life out of the puny human. However, Caleb Li was already prepared for the sneak attack.
Without thinking twice, he slid on the ground, dodging the deadly sharp claw of the Primeval Preying Panther.
The Panther was stunned when it saw the human going beneath it. It wanted to stop its movement mid-air, but it was impossible.
Bang!
Unfortunately for the Primeval Preying Panther, it was too confused by the sudden maneuver by Caleb Li and didn't see the powerful tail that came crashing toward it.
When the tail connected to his body, it sent him hurtling to the ground with the sound of its bones breaking to pieces.
While all this was happening, Caleb Li had already appeared at the foot of the trees. Quickly, he climbed the tree like an ape and plucked all five ripe fruits.
With all five fruits in his pocket, a bright smile flashed on his face, and he prepared to jump down only to see four deadly eyes glaring at him.
One belonged to the Supreme Tomb Ape while the second belonged to the Blaze Eye Anaconda.
The two were not just any ordinary Rank-1 Beasts but peak ones. They were on the brink of breaking through to a Rank-2 beast.
Thus, the pressure coming from their bodies was suffocating, and lesser beasts didn't dare approach them.
"Shit!" Caleb Li cursed, with beads of sweat dripping from his forehead.
All the beasts had their eyes locked on the three as they waited patiently for the next course of action. Even though the intimidating aura coming out of the Ape and Anaconda told the beasts not to come near them.
However, as beasts, they only followed their instinct, and their instinct was telling them to get a bite from one of the fruits. Therefore, they wouldn't retreat not until they got a bite from the purple fruits.
With Caleb Li in deadlock with the two beasts, his mind raced to find a clear solution. Suddenly, his head lit up, and he quickly took out two fruits from his pocket and looked at the two beasts with a cunning smile.
"Take it!" He shouted and threw the two fruits in two opposite directions.
Looking at the two fruits flying in the air, the beasts widened their eyes, and their instinct kicked in.
Roar! Growl!
The beasts let out their bestial cry and pounced in the direction of the fruits. At once, the still hill footstep was in turmoil as battle ensued.
The Supreme Tomb Ape went to the left while the Blaze Eye Anaconda went right. With their might, they killed every beast in their path.
With the two powerful beasts out of the way, Caleb Li didn't think twice and jumped down from the tree and prepared to escape. It was then he heard a terrifying shriek from the distance.
All the incoming beasts that were about to attack all froze in their spot. From the depths of the forest, two big blue and black eyes opened from the darkness within the forest.
Everyone who looked at the two eyes felt a shiver run down their spine. Instantly, both Caleb Li and the beasts knew an overlord had arrived.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a powerful thick web came from the two eyes and wrapped around a massive bull.
The Vicious Boulder Bull only struggled for a couple of seconds before it remained still. Its dark thick hide had turned blue.
Huh!
"Poison… web," Caleb Li muttered under a cold breath.
Slowly, from the depths of the forest, the beasts came out to the opening.
From its eyes, there was pride and scorn as it looked at the frozen beasts and human.
Its massive body towered over all the beasts with its long sharp legs like blades.
The Poisoncloud Spider. A Rank-2 beast.
When a beast broke through to the Rank-2 realm, they would manifest an innate ability, and that was what made them fearsome for anyone in the Mortal realm.
As for Caleb Li, the previous smile on his face had long disappeared. Now, it was replaced with a solemn expression.
His mind was racing on how to escape from the clutches of the Rank-2 beast.
'Think! Think!' He screamed in his mind.
From the corner of his eyes, he saw the spider shoot out another powerful web bullet.
The beast didn't even have time to react before it was wrapped like a mummy and fell down under the powerful poison.
It was when the second beast fell that all the beasts woke up from their stupor, and their instinct kicked in.
Quickly, all the beasts scrambled in various directions, trying to escape for their lives.
"Yes. This is my chance!" He shouted and prepared to make a mad escape.
Just as he prepared to join the mad escape, he witnessed the terrifying power of a Rank-2 beast.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The Poisoncloud Spider shot out tens of webs in less than three seconds, with each capturing their target.
Besides, it began to move. With its massive body, it was extremely fast.
None of the beasts could compare to its speed.
Watching all this, Caleb Li trembled in fright. However, he knew this was his moment to escape and if he missed this chance,
The only thing waiting for him was death.
Huh!
He sucked in a cold breath and made a mad run for his life.
Whoosh!
Using the Shadow Steps to the limit, he left a gust of wind behind.
Under the chaos going on at the foot of the hill, his heart was racing as he dodged from one beast to another.
Suddenly, all the hair on his body tensed up, and his instinct was screaming of danger.
Behind him, the Poisoncloud Spider web was rushing toward him at a breathtaking speed.
Without thinking twice, he acted based on his instinct.
It was now or never.
