" Why are you laughing?", Jackson asked.
"Nothing much, Just that Your Lifestyle propfession subject made me recall some past memories". Mark composed himself and replied.
"Hey Eric what of you, which subjects did you choose?"
Jackson glanced at Eric who was still wolfing down the food in his front.
"I chose Blacksmithing and Metallurgy as my Secondary and Lifestyle Professions respectively".
Mark nodded in approval since he chose the courses based on his tested Elemental affinity which is Metal, although he has not reached the Dantian Opening cultivation stage, where he would be able to absorb Heaven and Earth Elements from the surroundings, This would undoubtedly Lay a good foundation for him.
Mark was about to ask Nathan the same question when he heard a voice; "Hahaha, so you guys are also here, i never knew your bond was so strong enough that you will still gather together, after making fun of yourselves at the Yellow Challenge hall".
The Group turned their heads, and discovered that the owner of the voice was ; It was Maximilian Thornfield, the guy who came to provoke Mark on the day of the challenge between Jackson and Nathan.
Mark face turned sour, he knew that his appearance here does not signify anything good, however he could not just stand up and leave, since that will have a different meaning to those watching them, and Maximilian could even spread a rumor that he is a coward, He didn't react and continued eating with his head lowered, while thoughts spun in his brain.
Following Maximilian were four male Students who were walking half a step behind him, clearly showing their submissive attitude, among them is Flink, who was a native of Mark's Province, Among them was a surprisingly familiar face, It was the Fair skinned guy that was bullying a fellow student on the first day of resumption!.
When his gaze clashed with Mark's, His face became squeezed, and he had a terrifying expression on his face. Mark ignored him and continued identifying the faces of the other lackeys.
Maximilian and his lackeys swaggered over to the Table beside them and took a seat, sending Flink to get them foods and drinks from the serving window.
"Your group of friends is really a peculiar one, and it even includes a lowly commoner" Maximilian said while stealing a glance at Jackson.
"Wow, so i wonder what gave you the confidence to talk after all, It's obvious you really have the habit of spewing sh*t from your mouth". This time it was Jackson who replied.
Maximilian face contorted at the venomous words, however he composed himself and said; "Ohh, Mark could it be that you don't have the confidence to face me, and you are hiding the shadow of a commoner, who has became prideful due to some stupid talent he got and does not know the immensity between heaven and earth", Maximilian taunted.
"It is obvious you have a specific reason for coming here today, I wonder if you would go straight to the point and stop beating around the bush with those unnecessary insults and underhanded tactics". Mark remarked coldly.
At this time Flink was back from the serving window with a tray in each of his hands containing what they ordered, as a Qi cultivator as long as you have increased physical strength, it's not a problem to maintain the balance of such kind of things without worrying about them falling down.
Flink placed one of the trays in front of Maximilian, with his head slightly bowed, and placed the other tray at the table centre, before taking a sit.
Maximilian took a sip of his juice and peered at Mark and stated in a voice that was not too large but was enough to attract people's attention, "i want to Challenge you to a duel at the Yellow Challenge hall".
"What!", Jackson blurted out, while Nathan, Eric and Lily were obviously suprised.
Mark tilted his head to the side and propped up his chin with his palm as if he was thinking about it.
Maximilian smirked and continued; "Of course, you can also..."
However Mark suddenly raised his head up and said; "I accept".
"Huh, what did you say", The Thornfield heir asked as his brain didn't seem to process Mark's previous reply.
"I said I accept", Mark said in a louder voice, Mouthing it word by word in an humiliating manner.
Maximilian face contorted since he was really caught unaware by Mark's acceptance, after all, The Duel was surely going to be a one sided one, since Mark has only opened up two acupoints in his first Meridian, compared to Maximilian who had opened seven, the difference in strength was clearly a large one.
He never in his wildest dreams thought that Mark would give his consent to the duel, His statement was only to make Mark lack of talent the focal point.
'Since he accepted without any argument, he must have a plan, however in front of absolute strength, all schemes are useless', Maximilian thought.
His thoughts were interrupted when Mark stood up and said; "Since you've expressed your true intentions, I'd like to ask; " Which day should the Duel hold".
Mark asked.
Maximilian regained his cool and said; "Seven days later is okay".
Mark nodded and said; "Till then have a nice time" He then walked out of the cafeteria confidently.
Immediately he left, the Cafeteria became noisy as Students spoke with hushed voices, it was obvious that this is going to be one of the trending gists in the. Academy by tomorrow.
Jackson and the others finally snapped out of their daze, and they seemed not to comprehend what just happened, Jackson turned towards Nathan and pinched him hard on his thigh.
A high pitched scream came from Nathan and reverberated throughout the cafeteria, The surrounding Students cast them weird looks.
"Hey why did you pinch me?", Nathan asked in a stern tone, as he grimaced in pain.
Jackson rubbed his nose, standing up and taking a few steps back before saying; "I wanted to check if what we saw was real".
" You should have pinched yourself if you really wanted to confirm, i suspect that you did this intentionally", Nathan said noticing Jackson had taken more steps away from him.
"But why did Mark impulsively agree to Maximilian challenge?". Lily asked.
"Although, I've only known Mark for a short time, I believe he is not an impulsive character and for me, i think he has his own reasons for accepting the duel from Maximilian. Eric remarked patting his stomach and finally standing up from the table.
Most of the food served to them was consumed by him.
Nathan and Lily followed suit, and with Jackson at the forefront, they left the Cafeteria.
