Chapter 29: I will Definitely Get You out of Here

Charles neither confirmed nor denied. "The Alliance warriors I know aren't like scum like you," Clark recalled James, the young man who sacrificed himself to save his comrades.

"You don't understand the Alliance, or rather, what you know is too little! The surviving humans formed the Alliance for their survival. There are many secrets you don't know!" Charles didn't elaborate further. "Look at me now, living comfortably inside this fortress.

As long as nothing unexpected happens, I can live carefree like this for the rest of my life, doing whatever I want!"

"You treat everyone else as slaves! I've seen enough of your kind, and it never ends well!" Clark couldn't help but curse.

"Think what you want. Here, I am everything. I haven't killed you in a hurry because you still have some usefulness to me!" Charles slowly spoke, a hint of greed flashing in his eyes. "Olivia Turner, I really like that woman, but she refuses to submit to me. So, I need you to do me a favor!"

"If you dare to harm her, I'll kill you!" Clark shouted.

"I initially wanted you to persuade her for me, but now it seems unnecessary. I have a new plan – make her choose between your life and obedience to me. If she disobeys, I'll kill you!" Charles said triumphantly, as if controlling everything like a gamer.

"Enough!" Clark tried to strike the guy in front of him, but his limbs were tightly bound, rendering him unable to move. After struggling for a bit, he collapsed on the ground.

"Take him to see that woman. Let her know that if she doesn't obey, this guy won't survive!" Charles ordered.

Mad Dog entered and dragged Clark out directly. The underground floor seemed like a large prison, with the voices of many women coming from below, indicating there was more structure beneath.

Clark was taken to a room that had been minimally decorated, surrounded by iron bars. Olivia Turner was sitting inside.

"You beasts, let me out!" Olivia Turner first saw Mad Dog and began yelling, then noticed Clark on the ground and quickly ran over.

"Are you okay?"

Both spoke at the same time. Clark smiled at Olivia Turner; she seemed unharmed, so everything should be fine.

"You're still laughing at a time like this. Are you out of your mind?" Olivia Turner scolded Clark, but her tone was very gentle.

"We must have misunderstood the Alliance before, or maybe these people here are the scum of the Alliance, too wicked!" Clark said with a smile.

"You bastard, what are you talking about!" Mad Dog kicked Clark.

Clark didn't care at all and continued, "Don't worry, I'll definitely get you out of here!"

Olivia Turner looked at Clark. Despite his nonsensical words, they somehow felt reassuring and comforting. Unconsciously, tears welled up in her eyes.

"Ding, the first beauty has developed a hint of affection for the host, presenting a big gift package!"

"What? There's actually a big gift package?" Clark hadn't expected the system to be so helpful at such a critical moment!

Or rather, he didn't expect Olivia Turner to have developed affection for him, making him somewhat embarrassed to keep staring at her.

"Enough, the boss wants me to tell you: either you obediently follow him, or this guy is as good as dead!" Mad Dog wasn't in the mood to watch the two of them perform and directly cursed, then dragged Clark away.

"Remember what I said, I will definitely get you out of here!" Clark shouted loudly, this time he could make good on his words!

"System, what's inside the big gift package?" Clark asked excitedly.

"One body strengthening session, making you invulnerable for a short period."

"Heatwave, a one-time skill concentrating heat on your hands, capable of melting steel."

"Eight hundred meters directional movement, with the ability to carry others."

The system gave three consecutive rewards.

"Ha ha, this is awesome!" Clark couldn't help but laugh.

Mad Dog looked at Clark strangely, thinking this guy must be crazy.

On the second day after Clark surrendered, the Alliance issued an announcement. Due to the severity of the criminal acts, the Alliance had decided to publicly execute Clark in one day, at the harbor where the submarine had arrived.

Beheading!

For the people inside the fortress, be headings weren't unfamiliar. In the early stages of Charles successfully seizing power, such events used to happen frequently. However, this time, the person to be beheaded was Clark. He had once distributed food to many, but he was also the one responsible for withholding everyone's rations. Many people viewed this matter with conflicting emotions.

But without a doubt, this beheading would attract everyone to come and watch.

Time passed quickly, and on the second day, the bells rang on schedule. Even before the bells rang, many people had already arrived at the harbor to secure a good viewing spot. Some even occupied good positions and resold them at the price of food, engaging in scalping.

This was probably something Clark hadn't expected. His death had caused such a significant impact.

The Alliance gathered all available personnel at the harbor to ensure that this beheading would proceed without any mishaps.

In the distance, at the Alliance base on the second floor, Charles stood on the balcony with Olivia Turner, watching everything with great interest.

Olivia Turner's hands were bound, and there were bruises on her wrists, indicating she had struggled in vain.

"Your friend, or rather, the one you care about, is about to lose his head!" Charles pointed at Clark. "If you regret now, maybe I can consider letting him live."

"Pah!" Olivia Turner spat at Charles, disdainful. "He's not someone you can kill."

"He he."

At the execution platform in the harbor, Michael had a flask hanging from his waist. He picked it up, took a sip, then spat it out. In an indescribable state of mind, he looked at the execution platform with hollow eyes.

"Captain, we..." One soldier, armed like the others, holding a gun but unwilling, began to speak.

"Shut up!" Michael took another sip of the drink, this time swallowing it. "A soldier's duty is to follow orders, not to judge whether the order is reasonable or not."

Without causing any contradiction, the soldier who had started speaking fell silent and lowered his head.

Michael looked around, as if searching for something. Eventually, among the many soldiers, he found Emma Kensington and chuckled, "That crazy woman!"
