"Can you hide here for a lifetime?" Olivia Turner disdainfully looked at Charles. "If you have an ounce of humanity left, confess. It will make everyone pay a little less."
Smack! A slap landed on Olivia Turner's face, causing her to fall to the ground, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.
Meanwhile, at a distance, Clark witnessed the scene.
"You bastard!" Clark immediately activated his skill, a targeted teleportation within an eight-hundred-meter range. In a flash, he appeared next to Olivia Turner.
He hadn't acted immediately before because the situation was unclear. Even if he rescued Olivia Turner, they might be immediately surrounded. But now, seeing Olivia Turner injured, he couldn't wait any longer.
"Let's go!" Clark wasted no time and tried to pick up Olivia Turner, intending to take her away.
"No, don't mind me. If you can come here directly, you can probably find a way out. Take him out, and everything will be over!" Olivia Turner refused Clark's rescue. She wasn't surprised by Clark's sudden appearance; she had seen it once before and had some guesses, hence her words.
Charles had already drawn a laser gun, intending to shoot Clark. However, hearing Olivia Turner's words, he was frightened and hesitated.
"Fine!" Clark approached Charles without hesitation.
"Don't come any closer!" Charles raised the laser gun, with a faint glow emanating from the muzzle.
Clark's hands turned red as he directly used his fiery skill, melting the handcuffs and freeing his hands. A laser shot towards him, but he raised his hands, and it hit the handcuffs, leaving a shallow dent.
"How did you...?" Charles hadn't expected Clark to break free and even use the handcuffs as a shield. It all happened in a very short time. When he reacted, Clark was already beside him.
"No!" Charles exclaimed, trying to retaliate, but Clark had already lifted him up.
Clark held Charles and leaped outside, landing in the periphery.
Charles, who had originally thought of hiding inside, realized it was impossible now.
"Captain!" Some Alliance soldiers wanted to go rescue Charles, but others held them back. No one was willing to work for Charles anymore.
With this scene unfolding, the Alliance forces, who were resisting before, completely dropped their weapons. The leader had been captured, and continuing the fight would be meaningless.
The entire process was somewhat dramatic, from confrontation to struggle, and now it had calmed down. No one died, only some clashes and injuries occurred.
"You bastards, all of you!" Charles shouted loudly, looking at the Alliance soldiers who had abandoned him.
Those who were stared at by Charles lowered their heads, some feeling ashamed not because they thought they had wronged him, but because Charles was making a fool of himself.
Clark dragged Charles to the presence of Thomas and Emma Kensington.
"Thank you, hero!" Thomas exclaimed with great excitement. "If it weren't for your decisiveness and plan, we would still be at the mercy of this beast."
"Thank you!" Emma Kensington's expression visibly improved upon seeing Clark, no longer displaying the brave and aggressive demeanor from moments ago.
Indeed, Clark was a turning point in the whole situation.
"Charles, you've lost. Confess, and there are many things you need to explain!" Thomas addressed Charles, his face no longer showing the previous excitement but rather a solemnity, indicating that he was considering more important matters.
"Ha ha, you think I'm done like this?" Charles sat on the ground, laughing manically, shouting towards the Ark, "Why don't you move faster!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a cannon shot from the Ark, directly hitting a building in the harbor, turning it into ashes in an instant.
A massive shock wave swept through, causing many people to fall to the ground.
However, this was just the beginning.
Cannon fodder fell like meteors all over the fortress, with destroyed buildings and burning flames everywhere. Continuous casualties occurred, and sighs filled the air.
"Joseph, what are you doing? Stop, stop it now!" Thomas picked up the communicator, shouting loudly. If this continued, the entire fortress would be in ruins!
"Ha ha, see that? This is the fate of those who resist me!" Charles, with eyes full of red, was on the verge of madness, laughing and even dancing a bit.
"What have you done?" Clark lifted Charles and delivered a fierce punch. This lunatic seemed intent on dragging everyone down with him!
"He he, are you looking for this guy?" A woman's voice came through the communicator. The voice was sharp, suggesting the speaker could change it, making it oddly uncomfortable.
"Thomas, quickly... escape!" Joseph's weak voice came through the communicator. Each word seemed to be spoken with the last ounce of his strength.
"Who are you, and what happened to Joseph?" Thomas realized that something was wrong; Joseph was in trouble!
At this point, the Ark had stopped its attack, and almost half of the fortress had been destroyed.
"This guy is really hard to play with; he's out of breath!" The woman's voice came through the communicator again, her words making Thomas's hands tremble with anger. "Release that guy called Charles, or we'll destroy this place!"
After saying this, the cannons on the Ark moved again, not firing but assuming a posture ready to shoot at any moment.
Meanwhile, on the water surface, a black object swiftly moved towards the harbor. After reaching the shore, a man in black armor, wearing a helmet that obscured his face, walked directly towards them.
"Ha ha, at a critical moment, you can still rely on mercenaries!" Charles chuckled triumphantly. "Let me go, or everyone here will die!"
"You actually hired mercenaries for help!" Thomas stared at Charles with bloodshot eyes. "When did they board the Ark?"
"Release me, or everyone here will die!" Charles crazily repeated this sentence. "You forced me into this! I'm giving you a way out now. Let me leave, and I won't let them launch another attack!"
Before he could finish speaking, he felt a chill around his neck.
Clark held a dagger against Charles's neck, the blade lightly cutting his skin, leaving a thin line of blood. With a bit more pressure, it could easily sever his blood vessels.
While speaking, the pressure from Clark's hand on the dagger increased.
"Do you think I'll believe you, 'let them leave, or I'll take your life'?" Charles refused to relent.
"He he, want me to lend a hand?" The man standing suddenly spoke, walking towards Clark and Charles.
"Take another step, and I'll kill him!" Clark applied more force to the dagger, causing blood to flow directly from Charles's neck.
"Daniel, stop! Are you trying to kill me?" Charles shouted, feeling Clark's murderous intent.
"He he, fine. You didn't want me to come to your rescue." Daniel indeed stopped, but his attitude remained arrogant, showing little concern for Charles.
At that moment, someone flew into the air, creating a shock wave that forced everyone around to step back.
