A teen wearing a grey flak jacket along with cargo pants and wooden sandals can be seen walking through the streets of konhoha.
"Damn, Gai sensei's relentless in completing missions, good thing this was the final one this month".
Ken grumbled to himself and walked towards his home.
It has been two years since ken graduated and the result was already showing in Ken's whole demeanour.
His steps were silent and purposeful with no wasted movement with him subconsciously being wary of his surroundings.
The trials he encountered partnering up with Gai has forged ken into an exemplary shinobi with resilience. A true metamorphisis from the Fresh Genin he was to a battle hardened chunin.
Flashback No jutsu:
A year after graduation...
"Sensei, What's on todays agenda?"asked a 11year old ken.
"Hmm,How about we take a bounty mission my student"
"Huh,Thats rare of you sensei, so whats the catch".
"As perceptive as usual my disciple, well you see you have reached a threshold in your skills as a shinobi my boy and its time for you to focus on other aspects of being a shinobi".
"But that doesn't answer my question sensei?"
"I have taught all I can regarding taijutsu including my signature skill the Eight gates to you,You no longer need my guidance as you can grow steadily through training on your own".
"It's time for you to forge your own path my boy, Your youth shouldn't be left to stagnate, so spread your wings and explore the vast world,there is much more to being a shinobi than just killing".
"And the catch for this mission is,This is a test to see if you are worthy to become a chunin, I will only interfere in this mission should it seem like you are going to fail in hunting down the rogue nin".
Ken was excited hearing about getting a chance to become a chunin without the unnecessary drama that is the chunin exams.
"I'm all in sensei,so who's the target"
"The hokage will inform you so lets get moving"
Saying so Might Gai runs along with ken towrds the hokage's office.
Hiruzen sarutobi was peeking at minors and inside bathhouses as usual when he sensed Gai and his pupils chakra approaching his office.
He quickly puts away his peeking orb and smoothens his robe and sits straight while his face morphs into a mask of stoicism,meanwhile the anbu stationed in his room sweatdrop at his performance.
Gai knocks on the door vigorously and enters after recieving permission.
"Hokage-sama,I came here to ask for my disciple's promotion to chunin". Gai boisterously reports to the old monkey.. oops..sarutobi.
"Isn't it a rather hasty decision my dear Gai,the kid's been a genin for only a year?", inquires a curious hiruzen
"Not at all hokage-sama, My disciple here is a full fledged chunin in terms of ability and I have passed on that jutsu to him and Ken here has made admirable progress in it and can hold his ground against a jonin if push comes to shove". Reveals a proud Gai.
Hiruzen reveals an surprised expression as If the one spying on ken occasionally was not him but danzo.
"That's great Gai, The kid must be really gifted in taijutsu for you to pass it to him".
(A/N:For those who still don't get it, It here refers to the eight gates)
Hiruzen looks at ken and uses his most effective attack, His grandfatherly smile and with his eyes filled with warmth as if ken was his long lost grandson says.
"Youth's like you and itachi are the reason I can rest assured of Konoha's prosperity even when I pass away as I can see the will of fire burning bright inside you".
'Thats just my chakra old fart', Thinks a disgruntled ken.
"Seriously,A Dumbledore wannabe You sure I got reincarnated just for an old man to show you puppy eyes, Damn looking at that wrinkled face smiling gives me the creeps", Ken cringes inwardly meanwhile on the outside bowing to the old monkey.
"Thank you for your praise hokage sama and rest assured that I will try my best to live up to your expectations".
"Hmm,You shall be given a rouge nin extermination mission and should you be successful in bringing back his head then be promoted to chunin effective immediately".
Hiruzen tells ken stoically losing his previous grandfatherly demeanor.
Ken stands straight upon hearing the authority leaking out of the old man for the man ken was seeing now was the current generation's God of Shinobi.
"Yes,Sir"Ken reflexively salutes back to the old man.
Hiruzen coughs awkwardly,"Now,now ken no need to be overly rigid, I appreciate your vigor. Let us get back to the matter at hand"
"The targets name is Tenshin han,A konoha nin who defected after the third great shinobi war ended".
"He is a ninjutsu specialist,who also specialises in genjutsu and is well versed in countertracking".
"His combat prowess is rated as tokubetsu jonin and his known affinities are Earth and wind. So expect ambushes from the ground as well as invisible wind jutsus".
"He roams the mountains situated at the borders of the land of fire while he had also estabilished a bandit group".
"The man is quite scheming as he does not go over Konoha's bottomline and only blockades the path of travelling merchants and ask for a share of their stock and earnings for safe passage".
"Our scouts have recorded the groups number to around 30 members with the majority being normal bandits and a few genins".
"Your task is to exterminate everyone in this group and to bring back Han's head as proof of mission completion".
Saying so Hiruzen hands over a file containing all the details they have about Han and his bandit group.
"With this you are dismissed,You have two weeks to complete this mission and earn your promotion".
Ken and Gai bow towards Hiruzen and leave his office.
