Chapter 44: Would Mr. Harris?

"How did that whore get an invite?" Emily asked, stunned that my former sister-in-law was invited.

"Her stepbrother works for Harris Inc., Mr. Harris invited all of his employees," Cassandra groaned as I righted myself.

Suddenly the room went still, as Cassandra slowly turned around to face me.

I was certain she could see how pale I had gotten and how I now needed to lean against a table to make sure I didn't fall.

"Shit, I'm sorry Lily," Cassandra gasped as she ran over and pulled me into a hug. "I didn't realize, I hadn't—"

"Wait, what's going on?" Marc asked as he looked at us.

I bit my lower lip, unsure if I wanted to let them know what had happened.

"Lily you don't have to tell them, I won't tell them if you don't want to," Cassandra said in a voice low enough that only she and I could hear.

Closing my eyes I took a deep breath and shook my head, "I don't mind letting them know."
