Chapter 34: 34 Filming for the Villain

It was finally the first day of filming for Jungsu, as his character Baekhyun would finally be on screen. Today had not been the best morning for him as the moment he had stepped outside the building, he had narrowly avoided being painted in pigeon poo. Even as a spy, there were some things that one couldn't avoid. If he could fly, the first thing he would do would be pestering those pigeons so they got a taste of their own medicine.

He was already irritated enough as it was, but to add onto that, the director decided to add on a scene last minute. Jungsu would have had no problem with shooting the scene had it been anything but what they were telling him to do.

It was rather dramatic. But in all honesty, it was not something that would be hard for him to do as it was something he already did daily. The problem was that they expected him to do it in front of a camera, and in front of a bunch of people.

Jungsu had vehemently refused at first as he absolutely did not want to do it. It was one thing to unbutton a few buttons on his shirt for a photoshoot, but to completely remove his shirt altogether? That would be rather uncomfortable, especially considering the amount of women in the studio today of all days. Jungsu felt that there were definitely more than he had initially predicted there to be. It seemed that they hired more female employees. Jungsu felt quite unlucky that day.

Unfortunately for him, Hyunwoo was also with him today to oversee his first shooting. When Jungsu had initially refused, the director seemed visibly upset, as if somebody had just taken his favourite toy. Right after he had said that, Jungsu was shot a glare from Hyunwoo and dragged to a corner of the studio.

"Jungsu, you can't be difficult on your first shoot! It will give you a bad rep, and then nobody will want to hire you again!" Hyunwoo said worriedly as he pulled at his own hair.

Jungsu would be happy if they didn't hire him in any movies after this, however, he knew Hyunwoo and Officer Hyunsu would certainly not approve.

"I can do the scene just as well with a shirt on, Hyunwoo. Why don't you tell the director to compromise?" Jungsu gritted out as he looked down at Hyunwoo with a frown.

"Jungsu! You-" Hyunwoo let out a breath as he collected himself.

"You have signed a contract agreeing to do anything that is asked of you within reasonable limits for filming purposes."

Jungsu narrowed his eyes as he said, "This seems pretty unreasonable to me."

"You will do this scene Jungsu!" Hyunwoo shouted at him.

"I refuse!" Jungsu shouted back.

"You will! Or your career will suffer. The director will not be happy about this."

Jungsu paused before he could say anything else, biting down on his tongue.

And so Jungsu found himself in the dressing room as he grumbled underneath his breath in irritation. He'd only caved in because he knew it was for the greater good of the mission. At least that was what he was trying to convince himself. He didn't know what would happen if he left behind his reasoning. Perhpas he would've started choking Hyunwoo.

He'd taken his shirt off and was now standing before the makeup artists who staring at him for far too long without doing anything. It was quiet as they circled around him like hyenas sizing up their prey.

He crossed his arms over his chest as he felt one of them get particularly close.

The director walked in then, closing the door behind him quietly, then glancing at Jungsu in the centre of the room and freezing on the spot. His eyebrows rose up as he allowed himself a moment to take in Jungsu before grinning widely.

"Wow Jungsu! Just wow! I've never been blessed with an actor with a body like yours on my sets. You don't understand how happy you have made me!" Beom Seok clapped his hands together in appreciation as he approached Jungsu slowly.

Then he paused as his eyes fell on the faint scars on Jungsu's body, his eyes brows lifting curiously.

Jungsu could tell the man was burning with curiosity, however, to ask directly would be a bit too blunt and inconsiderate, so he remained silent.

"You are perfect as you are." The director whispered as he looked at Jungsu's scars.

"Don't add in any new scars, just maybe accentuate the ones that are already there, make them more visible." He said, turning to the makeup artists.

Jungsu jerked as he felt the tip of a makeup brush on his stomach, his hands being pulled aside as they worked on him. Jungsu tried not to flinch as he was poked at by the brushes, tightening his hands into fists as he glared down at Hyunwoo. Hyunwoo, who was sitting on a chair comfortably while sipping on his iced americano, grimaced at the murderous look in Jungsu's eyes.

Jungsu's gaze turned to the director's, whose eyes were still on him.

"Don't worry, Jungsu. My lips are sealed. I do await the next photoshoot of yours though. I hope you can embrace your scars." The director patted Jungsu on the shoulders with a kind look in his eyes before leaving the dressing room.

Jungsu was rooted to his spot in confusion as he hadn't quite understood what the director was trying to say. If the director thought that Jungsu had refused initially for the scene because he was embarrassed of his scars, he was severely wrong. Jungsu saw no problem in the scars he had on his body, they simply served as another reminder to him that he had survived. What Jungsu was more embarrassed of was having to step outside this room under the watchful eyes of the staff and other actors. Thankfully, none of the major actors were here today, as they would only be filming Baekhyun and his father's scenes.

Once they had finished touching up his makeup and hair, Jungsu was ready to head outside. He had covered himself with a robe as he did not wish to expose himself for any longer than he had to. Despite that, he still felt every set of eyes on him as he walked outside the dressing room and onto the set.

The director smiled once he saw him and waved him over to discuss what he would have to do.

"Just wait over there by the window."

Jungsu walked over to the window that was currently overlooking the whole city. It was an even better view than the one from his apartment. The set for this scene was Baekhyun's apartment, which was a luxury end building. Though his own building was quite nice, this building was made for those who were filthy rich. The sun was rising up in the morning sky, which was reflected in the glass of the windows.

Jungsu looked around as he waited for the director's indication that he could start the scene. Jungsu felt ridiculous at the moment as he stood in his black trousers and a dark blue silk robe. The fact that he was even wearing trousers for this scene didn't make any sense to him, but he wasn't about to interrupt a director's vision.

"Okay, go ahead." The director said, and before anyone could process what Jungsu was doing, he had already whipped off his robe and kicked his legs into the air. His back was to the camera as he faced the window, watching his own reflection in the mirror.

There was silence in the studio as Jungsu pushed himself up and down in the air like he had done thousands of times before. Though it wasn't a difficult task for him, he was startled as he didn't seem to be hearing any sound at all from anyone in the studio. Jungsu had already done more pushups than he'd thought the director would need from him, and the eerie silence was not giving him any indications for what he should do next. He could slightly make out the expressions of the staff members. That was when he got down onto the ground and looked up at them with one knee close to his chest and one hand resting on the ground.

"Did you want me to do a one-handed pushup? Or did you just want me to keep going?..." Jungsu trailed off as he saw the look on the director's face.

But it wasn't just the director, as they all seemed to be looking at him as if he had just declared himself to be an alien.

Hyunwoo broke the ice by chuckling loudly and waving his hands back and forth as if there was no problem at all.

"Jungsh is very strong. He's quite the stuntman. Haha! You must have seen the video of him rescuing those children, and also the one where he was doing the human flag!"

The staff members nodded their heads in understanding as they whispered amongst each other.

Jungsu looked at Hyunwoo in confusion as he wasn't sure why they were surprised. Wasn't this what they asked him to do?

Hyunwoo made his way towards Jungsu as he saw the look in his eyes.

"You were supposed to wait for the staff to secure you to a harness."

Jungsu stared at him with empty eyes.

"What do I need a harness for?"

"To help you with your push-ups." Hyunwoo said between his teeth as he smiled at the staff.

"Ah." Jungsu said as he realized his mistake.
