Chapter 18: Preparation

============

Establishing a new company location is crucial.

Hell's Kitchen cannot recruit people, and facing the high rent, Daisy gritted her teeth and rented two offices in Midtown as the company's base.

Simultaneously, she posted job listings online and hired a few students to work for her, assisting in coding.

Big data doesn't have many barriers; if you have ideas, you can make it.

Daisy's advantage lies in her understanding of the development trends in the coming years, coupled with her predecessor's computer knowledge, allowing her to create algorithms surpassing the current level within three to five years.

When others realized the business opportunity and began preparing to build ships by chopping down trees, she had already set sail on a motorboat; that's the advantage.

Daisy spent three days building the framework herself and delegated the task of enriching content to the students.

The students didn't grasp the importance of the analysis algorithm. Despite their ineffective work, they frequently discussed conditions, vacation requests, the need for office entertainment, and a relaxed working environment, which infuriated Daisy.

"Hmm?" Walking angrily into her office, she opened her computer to clean her inbox and unexpectedly found a new email.

It was a job application from someone named David Lieberman, a graduate of the State University of New York. According to his self-introduction, he had rich software industry experience. However, Daisy felt he was boasting, as several of his achievements were described with terms like "assisted" and "supported," which was obviously a supporting role.

Nevertheless, Daisy decided to give him a chance because she remembered that David Lieberman was an analyst at the US National Security Agency, a friend of Future Punisher, with the code name "Chip." He shouldn't be having trouble finding a job, so why was he applying to her grassroots team?

Could it be a conspiracy against her? She decided to meet David Lieberman.

The two met in a coffee shop.

Daisy was puzzled by his appearance: "Mr. Lieberman, how old are you?"

"Twenty-six."

The other party replied with a horrifying number. Daisy looked at his old face, with the beard and wrinkles on his forehead. This guy seemed in a hurry!

After reviewing his documents and resume again, she confirmed that he was indeed twenty-six. She relaxed a bit. This guy had just stepped out of school, was quite introverted, and probably hadn't entered the National Security Agency yet.

As they chatted casually, Daisy found that this guy was somewhat similar to her current state: a solid foundation but lacking in flexible thinking.

Although David Lieberman hadn't heard of big data, he enjoyed analyzing complex data. He believed he could find his personal value in the vast sea of data.

Amid the overwhelming job listings and recruitment information, he spotted Daisy's recruitment, and in their conversation, he discovered that many of her ideas directly addressed what he had been thinking but hadn't fully understood.

Even though this boss is young and not well educated, her insights are extraordinary – that was David's first impression of Daisy.

Daisy also found David to be impressive. After all, being recruited by the National Security Agency indicates talent in the field of computers, at least the kind of talent she could hire.

"Mr. Lieberman, in my opinion, you have strong capabilities. Why did you choose to join my company?" she couldn't help asking at the end.

David, with a thick beard, looked a bit distressed. After grumbling for a while, he explained the situation. His wife was expecting their second child and the eldest daughter was still young. A pregnant woman needed constant support. His workplace couldn't be too far from home. Fortunately, Daisy's office was just across the street.

Daisy had nothing to say to this family-oriented, tech-savvy guy.

David Lieberman had a good personality, almost to the point of being a bit timid.

In the original timeline, when he couldn't make public appearances, he asked his friend, Future Punisher, to help with some small tasks. Unexpectedly, in the process, the imposing Future Punisher and his wife developed feelings for each other, even sharing a few kisses in the house. Everything was done except for the final step, and David Lieberman sat behind the monitor watching it all unfold on camera.

Rather than resorting to violence, he chose to drown his sorrows in alcohol and ultimately forgave the two...

Dubbed the top ninja in the Marvel universe, Daisy welcomed such a good-tempered employee with open arms. If he could tolerate that situation, would unpaid wages be an issue?

The two quickly finalized the contract, with David Lieberman serving as the technical director, involved in managing the later development of big data.

Daisy briefed him on the development progress and discussed some future plans. David Lieberman promptly started working.

Not forgetting her loyal retainer, Miss Maki Matsumoto, who served as an eyeliner, had the covert mission of monitoring the others and handling legal matters in Daisy's company.

Miss Maki is very insecure and lacks security. Daisy decided to teach her the basics of karate she had just learned. Being the original Lady Bullseye, her physical fitness was impressive, and her learning speed was remarkable. Without reinforced physical abilities, Daisy wouldn't stand a chance against her.

From the office space to computer equipment and servers, everything was rented. The short-term employment contracts for the students were also signed. David Lieberman, wanting to frequently go home, proposed a low salary. Matsumoto, the retainer, even refused to take a salary.

The company could be described as extremely frugal. Despite this, the $100,000 in the bank account visibly dwindled, and the development progress had just reached a quarter completion.

Everyday expenses were cut to the bone.

While being strict with the company, Daisy spared no effort for herself. She bought a second-hand Ford, continued practicing karate and marksmanship in her free time, and indulged in feasts at Chinese restaurants – her days were extremely pleasant.

When the $100,000 had dwindled to just a few thousand, a primary algorithm for big data was finally developed.

The algorithm was lengthy, and far from refined. Daisy optimized it behind closed doors herself and ran it on the rented server.

During this era, information protection was extremely rudimentary, and many users' information was like an open book for her to peruse. The algorithm ran effectively.

With development completed, the next step was to fool the customer to pay.

Many brilliant ideas and innovations ultimately got eliminated in this financial metropolis. Are they not good enough? No, it was simply that they weren't adept at selling their products.

Daisy, a nobody, going to negotiate with a big corporation and expecting to be taken seriously was simply wishful thinking. The tech guy David and retainer Makoto were a bit out of place. She needed an accomplice.

Returning to her old ways, she hacked into a network of surveillance cameras, identified a target, monitored them for two consecutive days, and then, with a pistol tucked at her waist, went to their door to recruit...

This was an upscale residential area in the upper city. After observing the target for two days, Daisy found that they rarely ventured outside, living a simple reclusive life. That's when she decided to personally recruit them.

Instead of using the front door, she forcefully opened a window, and slipped in.

Like many villains, sat on the sofa covered with shadow, waiting for someone to arrive.
