Chapter 25: Chapter 23 : Many claimed to kill me before, but they all failed

Goofy's sudden claim of being "NYPD" on the dock surprised the individuals there, but they didn't take him seriously. Goofy's current appearance didn't resemble an NYPD officer, and lacking a gun or support made him seem less threatening.

In Brooklyn, a lone police officer without a gun was considered less effective than a stray dog. However, as a precaution, the leading bald black man quickly contacted his associates for information on any nearby trouble.

"Listen, a cop sneaked into the dock. Is there any trouble nearby?" the bald black man inquired.

"Everything is normal; no one else," came the response.

Upon hearing this, the bald black man's arrogant smile widened. "He's alone; no other support."

The thug with the hammer grinned, "That makes it even easier. Put him in a jar and throw him into the sea!"

The bald black man nodded, urging, "Hurry up, don't let him make any noise."

Goofy listened to their discussion silently. After they finished, he coughed, "I get it. Are you all planning to kill me?"

The bald black man snorted, "What do you think?"

Goofy smirked, "Then you better keep your word and try your best to kill me. Many claimed to kill me before, but they all failed. Is this some kind of scam?!"

His words left the black men bewildered, unsure whether to laugh or be puzzled by Goofy's unexpected response.

The curly-haired thug, holding a hammer, asked, "Kid, are you out of your mind? Just finished having fun or something?"

Goofy shook his head, "Of course not. As an NYPD officer, I uphold the law. I don't deal with contraband."

The bald black man, growing impatient, directed, "Enough talking. Get on with it so that he doesn't haunt our dreams."

The two thugs wasted no time and lunged at Goofy with their hammers.

Goofy, however, encouraged them sarcastically, "Come on, hit me! Hit harder!"

Eddie, watching from the grass, was astonished. He couldn't fathom why Goofy would provoke his opponents after initiating a fight, especially with a plastered arm.

Yet, within a second, Eddie's expectations were shattered. Goofy, with remarkable speed, maneuvered between the two thugs and swiftly punched one in the back of the head. The impact left the man unconscious on the ground. The other thug swung a hammer, but Goofy kicked him in the abdomen, causing him to collapse.

Before the thug could recover, Goofy delivered another punch, disfiguring the curly-haired man's nose.

"Holy Shit!" Eddie exclaimed, shocked by Goofy's unexpected combat skills, especially with a plastered hand. However, at that moment, the bald black man drew a Colt M1911 pistol.

"Damn it! I knew they must have guns!" Eddie muttered, urgently calling for police support.

The bald black man, armed and dangerous, took aim. In a split second, Goofy rolled forward, grabbing the unconscious thug as a human shield and advancing towards the bald black man.

The ensuing gunfire hit the human shield, killing the curly-haired thug. The M1911, with a 7+1 round magazine, had five rounds left.

"Stop him!" The bald black man, realizing he was out of bullets, directed the remaining two thugs to confront Goofy.

This time, Goofy had no choice but to release the human shield and face the two attackers. The bald black man, seizing the opportunity, drew the last bullet from his gun.

The standoff reached a critical point. The bald black man aimed at Goofy intently, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

In a surprising turn, Goofy used the last of his strength to twist away and used the thug as a shield. The bullet pierced through the body, ending the bald black man's threat.

Eddie was dumbfounded. Goofy remained unharmed but splattered with blood. The bald black man, realizing defeat, ran along the cargo ship, jumped into the water, and escaped.

Goofy, unfazed, tied up the surviving thugs and proceeded to inspect the large jars containing the bodies of the homeless.

Eddie, still processing the unbelievable scene, witnessed Goofy's background data skyrocket.

Goofy shook his head at Eddie, "Don't be so surprised, my friend. You're a seasoned reporter; act like you've seen the world."

Eddie, eager to report the extraordinary event, asked, "Can I report this? The wounded police officer defeating armed gangsters bare-handed is a piece of sensational breaking news."

Goofy refused firmly, "Of course not. Don't forget the rules, Eddie."
