Chapter 3: The Coming Disaster

"Little sister, come here, let me introduce someone to you," Alexander called out to Alice.

Alice glanced casually at the elegant and composed Beryl and said nonchalantly, "No need for introductions, I know she's your girlfriend."

Alexander, unaware of any mistake, chuckled and said, "Alice, you're really clever. You guessed it before I even said anything."

Alice was the pampered princess of the family, treated like a child by her parents and older brother, who occasionally indulged her.

Beryl gazed gently at Alice and spoke softly, "Alice, right? I'm older than you. You can call me Sister Beryl."

Alice nodded but didn't address her as such. Beryl gave her a suspicious glance, remembering that in the previous life, Alice wasn't so aloof, and her gaze wasn't as sharp. However, she didn't dwell on it.

The family had dinner together, and both Atticus and Blanche liked the elegant and graceful Beryl. Beryl, despite a slightly less privileged background – orphaned and living with her uncle since childhood – was well-matched with their son. Allen family, caring more about character and personality, didn't particularly mind her family background.

Alexander, without any reservations, held his girlfriend's hand, laughing like a fool, utterly carefree.

Alice couldn't stand it anymore, so she went upstairs, determined to find a way to make her second brother see Beryl's true colors and not mistake the fish for pearls again. When she returned to her room, she saw a message from her older brother.

[Big Brother: I've already ordered the medicine for you. Where should it be delivered?]

Alice happily snapped her fingers. Big brother was indeed reliable, much more than her second brother with his love-struck brain. She sent him the warehouse address and replied with an emoji.

[Alice: Thanks, big brother~]

[Big Brother: /smile/ Don't be so polite with big brother. If you run out of money, just let me know.]

Alice chatted with her big brother for a bit, then turned her attention to the things on the list, planning what to buy tomorrow. She remembered that the first disaster to come was heavy rain. It started as normal rainfall, but overnight turned into a torrential downpour that lasted a month. No one in the city received any warning, caught off guard.

Eight days left until the disaster strikes.

Disasters were the beginning of the apocalypse!

"Alice, are you there?"

There was a sudden knock on the door, followed by Beryl's soft voice. Alice frowned, got up to open the door, and looked coldly at the woman outside. "What's the matter?"

"I'm going to attend a friend's birthday party with your second brother tomorrow. I bought a new dress, but I forgot to bring jewelry. Can I borrow some from you? Don't worry, I'll take good care of it and return it to you when I come back." Beryl had a gentle smile on her pretty face.

Alice thought for a moment, her dark eyes fixed on her. "What kind of jewelry do you want to borrow? Earrings, necklace?"

"I have those; I just feel like my wrist looks empty. I want to borrow a bracelet from you. My dress is white, and a jade bracelet would complement it well."

Alice was surprised. Beryl had set up so much groundwork, clearly aiming for the jade bracelet. But how could Beryl know the secret of the jade bracelet? Could it be that she was reborn?

This thought made sense to Alice. If Beryl was reborn, she would know what was going to happen and might want to secure resources in the space. Unfortunately for Beryl, her plan fell through as the space already belonged to Alice, and no one could take it away.

"I don't have a jade bracelet, but I have plenty of gold and silver jewelry and ruby bracelets," Alice sincerely said.

"How is that possible? Think carefully," Beryl urged anxiously. Without obtaining the bracelet, she couldn't gain access to the space. In the previous life, she got it too late and faced many difficulties.

Alice, with a sly smile, responded, "I know what I have. I don't like jade, so I don't have any jade jewelry."

Beryl's expression changed slightly. She struggled to maintain composure. "You might have forgotten. The jade bracelet has patterns on it, and the string is silver. Go check."

Alice pretended to be puzzled and asked, "Are you mistaking me for someone else? We've never met, and I can't even remember if I have a jade bracelet. How do you know the details?"

Beryl was momentarily speechless. She thought she could easily get the bracelet but suddenly faced a setback, reacting too strongly.

"I... I heard it from your second brother. That's why I thought of borrowing jewelry," Beryl said, avoiding eye contact and making up an excuse.

Alice, uninterested in arguing, showed impatience. "No jade bracelet here. Go borrow from someone else."

With that, she ruthlessly closed the door. Beryl stared at the closed door, seething with anger.

Three days later, Alice went to several large supermarkets and bought all kinds of snacks – biscuits, pastries, candies, potato chips, instant noodles, snail noodles, self-heating pots, canned fruits, yogurt, and herbal jelly, among other things.

Carbonated beverages were also essential – cola, Sprite, orange juice, coconut juice, all included. When Alice went to the checkout, she pushed over twenty shopping carts, each stacked like a small mountain, attracting a lot of attention. Some people even recorded videos and took photos, sharing them online and sparking discussions.

Unaware of the online buzz, Alice ended up with more than a hundred bags of items after packing. The supermarket staff helped her carry them to the entrance. Alice had already arranged for a truck, and after sweeping through several large supermarkets for snacks and sodas, she transported everything to the warehouse.

Exiting the supermarket, Alice first went to the frozen warehouse to store the meat in her space and then proceeded to the main warehouse. She kept buying and storing, and the three-story warehouse seemed endless.

The medicines hadn't arrived yet, and while walking on the street, Alice saw a girl holding bubble tea. It reminded her that she hadn't bought snacks and fast food. So, she hurriedly visited numerous bubble tea shops, saying, "Boss, I want a hundred cups of pearl milk tea, a hundred cups of mango milkshake, kumquat lemon, taro smoothie, yangmei passion fruit..."

Under the astonished gaze of the shop owner, Alice swiftly swiped her card, proving she wasn't joking. She left the warehouse address and said, "Deliver as soon as possible."

After buying bubble tea, she went on to purchase fried chicken, skewers, grilled cold noodles, and even raided a cake shop. She then rushed to various restaurants, randomly ordering from the menu – twenty portions of each dish, covering a wide variety of cuisines and flavors.

After buying the food, she returned to the warehouse to wait. The freshly made dishes were best stored in the space while still hot. The space was static, preserving items exactly as they were when placed inside, even maintaining the temperature.

Soon, bubble tea and fried chicken started arriving in batches. Some restaurants were quick in preparing the orders and delivered promptly.

A curious delivery rider asked, "Are you guys having a party in the warehouse?"

Alice casually made up a story, "Yes, it's quiet here, won't disturb anyone."

After running around outside for half a day, Alice happened to be hungry. She casually picked up a portion of eggplant beef rice to eat. The beef was tender, and the eggplant soaked up the flavorful broth, making it appetizing.

When she felt thirsty, she drank bubble tea, and after the meal, she enjoyed a small piece of cake. With all these supplies, it was enough for her family to live comfortably in the post-apocalyptic world.

She waited for three hours, and finally, all the ordered items were delivered. With a few swipes, everything was stored in the space.
