Chapter 16: 16. He's Awake

Yun Lui gained consciousness about a week later after he was admitted for the second time at the state clinic. Chi Yuan had noticed that he was awake so he came to his bedside.

For the past week, his mother has forced him to continue to rest at the hospital. He was given the job of watching over the may. At one point he even wondered if that was the actual reason his mother didn't want him to be discharged yet.

"You're awake.", he said to Yun Lui.

Yun Lui did not say anything but only stared at him.

"You must be really confused, not knowing what has happened. Can you please tell me the last thing that you remember? Or the last place that you were?", Yuan asked.

Yun Lui contemplated for a while. He does not know this man here, asking so questions. Seeing that he was in the state clinic he thought, 'Maybe he's the one that brought me here. Then I owe him some sort information about myself.

"I remember finding a corner to sit and checking my belongings to see if I could find anything that could lead me to my family but I didn't find any such things.

Except some monies and jewelleries but a thief took them from it after slashing my right arm. I don't remember anything else. You must be the one who brought me here perhaps?", Yun asked at the end.

Chi Yuan raised his two hands and shaking them in denial as he said, "No. No.No. I am not. I am only the son of the one footing your bills. I myself, I am a patient here too. I was admitted a day after you were. My parents asked that I watched over you."

"Who are they? Your parents I mean. Do they know me? Do they know of my family?"

"You'll see them soon. And no, my parents do not know you...", Chi Yuan was cut off

"Is he awake?", Mama Chi asked immediately she entered, walking towards Yun Lui's bed with Chi Lan behind her.

"Oh my dear, you're now awake.", she said checking the Yun Lui for whatever it is that she was checking for. "Chi Lan, call me a physician and a nurse. If Yu Ran is around, call her instead.

Chi Lan and came with a physician and another nurse. Nurse Yu Ran was on the afternoon shift today.

"Please check him to see if he is doing okay?" Mama Chi said to both the physician and the nurse. They did their checkings and told her that everything was good. She thanked them and they left the room.

Yun Lui was quiet and confused. 'Who are these people and why is this woman too fussy as if I am an invalid?', he thought.

"Oh my dear, I am so glad that you're finally awake. "Do you remember the last thing that happened before you lost consciousness?", Mama asked and Yuan repeated what Yun Lui had told him earlier.

"Okay. So, do you have your memories before then?",Mama Chi asked. And Yun Lui shook his head.

"Then, do you have any plans on how you were going to take care of yourself until you remember or your family finds you?"

Yun Lui shook his head again. The only money that he could've used for food and lodging were stolen from him. He has nothing now.

"Then what are you going to do once you're discharged from here?", Mama Chi asked him. Even though she has decided to help him, she doesn't want it to be forced on him.

Yun Lui did not know where the tears that welled in his eyes came from as he answered, "I have no idea. I don't have my money on me anymore. I don't know how I'd get food and lodging without it."

"Do not cry my dear.", Mama Chi rushed to his side and wiped his tears with her cloth. She then held his hand and ask, "Since you cannot remember and do not have any place yet, how about going to stay with me and my family at our house here in the capital, until you can remember or your family finds you?"

"Really? Can I really do that please?", Yun Lui asked.

"Yes of course. My family and I have already decided to take you in. We were only waiting for you to wake up and decide. If you agreed to that, then we will leave for our house after you're cleared to leave here. What do you say to that?"

"Oh, yes. Yes. Yes. I'll like to leave here with you. I have been told that you paid for my bills. I really am thankful for that and all your help."

"Then it's settled. Get well soon so that you can be cleared to leave with us. And oh, do you know a nurse called Yu Ran?"

"Nurse Yu Ran, oh yes. I know her. She was my nurse her when I was first brought here and was very nice to me. Is anything the matter please?"

"Oh, no. She seems to care so much about you. She had tried to stop the clinic when they were planning to put you out on the street in your unconscious state. She was the reason we heard of your case."

Yun Lui's heart was filled with so much gratitude towards nurse Yu Ran. She has been very nice to him even when he didn't know what was happening around him. He made a mental note to thank her when he gets the chance to.

Nurse Yu Ran was so happy to see that Yun Lui was awake now, and has already been acquainted with that nice family.

Yun Lui was discharged two days later along with Chi Yuan. That day, they closed the guild and so even Papa Chi also came.

He saw the now healthy young may and realised that indeed the may was too fair. It would've been dangerous to let him stay alone in a rented room with little to no protection.

He now understood what his wife meant. These are some of the reasons that he gives in to his wife whenever they have different opinions and her points seem more reasonable.

The whole family, together with Yun Lui and nurse Yu Ran left the hospital and together, they went to their main house. They had waited for nurse Yu Ran to finish her morning shift before the all left together.
