Chapter 1: ONE
JULIAN OLIVAREZ
Today is the day I marry the love of my life Issandra Mercela Alfonso, I prefer calling her Issa.
We have been together for a very long time, for most of my life since we were best friends before romantic feelings kicked in.
In fact I don't think I can love another the same way I do her. She's everything I need in a companion.
Issa is the trophy and I consider myself the luckiest man alive. She chose me to be her husband for the rest of our lives. Getting married to your first everything,sure is an ecstatic feeling to be honest.
We have been through a lot and faced many hinderences to deter our young love from the start.She has been by my side even when I felt lowest. I love many things about Issa and feel proud that she chose me and today is the day we make it official.
Checking on my wrist watch,I realize that she could be late so I try calling her but there's no answer.
"Just what could she be doing that she can't answer her calls. She knows better not to let anything go wrong, today of all days." I sigh and choose to go see to it that she doesn't delay.
I walked into her changing room,it is just a corridor away from mine. She has to be already set for our big day, which we've been anticipating.
But checking on her to make sure she's ready can't be that bad.
"Hey babe are you rea-"
I was cut short by the scene playing out in front of me. I shake my head to make sure my mind isn't playing games on me.
Issa,my childhood sweetheart and Matt, my best friend and best man for the day are going down on it.
They're fucking on her dresser and to make matters worse she's in her wedding dress. HER WEDDING DRESS!!!!!!
Their eyes widened when they noticed my presence. Both of them stiff with shock only to jump out of that trance a few minutes later. They both start panicking ,fixing their clothes like it will fix the situation we're in.
Matt wasn't even wearing protection. Wow! just how long has this been going on!? Anyway I better leave.
I walk back in time for the groom to go to the aisle. I pass by our friends and family who keep whispering several 'Congrats Julian's' but I pay them less attention because my mind is allover the place. I can't think straight anymore the only resolution loud enough in my mind is to call off this wedding at once.
I pity all these guests,they're all here to celebrate and be our audience as we exchange vows to stay together till death. Little do they know that things have changed and I must be the one to break it to them.
Even I was like them until a few minutes ago,when I thought and believed that today is the day two lovers shall be united as one before God. I scoff at my line of thoughts and continue my walk of shame.
I get to the aisle and stand next to the priest. "There won't be any ceremony for you to officiate so will you please excuse me. I need to make an announcement,so if you don't mind" I whisper to him with a smirk so fake I believe he could see it's all an act of politeness.
He excuses himself and leaves so I replace him in his position at the podium. I see Issa walking towards me in a hurry she didn't even wait for her entourage. Bet she wants to make me stop but i beat her to it.
Clearing my throat I grab everyone's attention before I start my speech "Ladies and Gentlemen,relatives and friends. You're here today to witness as I Julian Olivarez and Issandra Mercela Alfonso exchange vows and celebrate with is as we start a new chapter of our lives" By now the crowd is murmuring and exchanging looks. Issa tries to reach for the microphone but i give her an incredulous look and she retracts her hands. "I'd like to apologies to all of you for wasting your time as there's no wedding between me and Issa. If you have any questions you may proceed to ask her about the details if she wishes to share" By now her makeup is smudged due to crying.
I then turn to Matt " And you Matt Anderson I hope we never cross paths again because I can't stand traitors. I might be forced to knock you down, so please stay away from me. I don't care if you continue with Issa or whatever you two choose to do it's all up to you. Just avoid me" As I pass by him I turn back "Also make sure you report to work on Monday to collect your compensation and belongings because you're fired"
I hear loud gasps among the crowd but I have nothing to do. I'm not ready to continue with this relationship knowing I was betrayed by my two best buddies. It's now or never.
Being a business man for 11 years has helped me build my confidence and improved my decision making skills. I believe this decision is what's best for me and everybody else.
I walked down the aisle again this time leaving without looking back or stopping in tracks when people called me back. I get into my car,turn off my phone and drive away,in tears that I didn't let anybody else see.
Why do the worst things life has to offer, keep happening in my life.
