Chapter 2: Prologue: Constellation System

Constellation System:

In Mythos, gods and mortals have a reciprocal and interdependent relationship. The gods rely on mortals to have faith in them, which provides them with strength and power.

Mortals, on the other hand, depend on the gods for their blessings and supernatural powers. This dynamic creates a delicate balance of belief and power that is central to the mythology of this world.

As deities in this world rely on mortals for their belief and faith, a lack of believers can lead to the deities becoming weak and frail. These "forgotten constellations" have been forgotten by the mortals who once believed in them, and as such, the deities have lost their power and become weak and frail.

With nobody to remember or pray to them, they have lost their divinity and connection to the mortal world. This transformation is a tragic and bittersweet one, as the gods are lost to oblivion and forgotten by all. In turn, they also sever their connection to the "Constellation System."

The Constellation system is the fundamental power system in the world of Mythos. It is a complex and intricate ability that allows mortals to harness the power and essence of deities. Conventions refer to this power as the divine presence or constellation power, and there are many different types and aspects to it:

1.) The first type of constellation is called a "Deity Constellation", related to deities from various pantheons. These deities are responsible for the establishment and creation of the world's religions and cultures, making them crucial for understanding the overall nature and structure of the mythology and universe. The constellation power of deities often reflects their personalities and roles within their pantheons, giving them distinct attributes and abilities. Some of the common pantheons include the Greek pantheon, Norse pantheon, and Egyptian pantheon.

In addition to the full-fledged deities, there are also demi-god constellations in this category. These constellations represent the offspring of two gods or divine beings and their unique combination of divine powers and abilities. The constellations of demi-gods can vary widely in terms of their abilities and strength, with some being weaker than full-fledged gods and others being comparable in strength.

2.) The second type of constellation is called an "Ascended Constellation", reserved for those mortals who have ascended to godhood and attained the rank of Astrum.

These constellations reflect the unique qualities and attributes of the mortal who ascended to immortality, creating a fascinating dynamic between the human and the divine. Some of the most famous examples of humans who ascended to godhood include:

• Alexander the Great: A famed general who conquered the known world and established the Macedonian Empire.

• Albert Einstein: A celebrated physicist who made groundbreaking discoveries in the fields of relativity and quantum physics.

• Leonardo da Vinci: A brilliant humanist and artist who invented and designed some of the world's most renowned paintings and inventions.

3.) The third and final type of constellation is known as a "Natural Constellation", those that represent animals. These constellations can represent a wide range of creatures, from mammals like wolves and tigers, to birds such as eagles and hawks, or even mythical beasts like dragons and unicorns.

There are also constellations of various creatures of folklore and myths such as the minotaur, siren, and banshee, pixies and fairies. These constellations tend to be the weakest compared to the other two types, but they still possess a unique and powerful connection with the divine.

These animal constellations often carry a certain mysticism and wonder with them, evoking a sense of both majesty and mystery.

They can represent a range of abilities and powers, sometimes even having the ability to take the form of various species. These types of Constellations are referred as Natural Constellations since they encompass a large variety of animals, mystical beasts, and mythological creatures.

In the intricate world of Mythos, everyone is connected to the Constellation System. However, not all choose to follow the path dictated by these celestial patterns. Some prefer to lead ordinary lives, untouched by their inherent abilities.

However, those bound to the Constellation System and who willingly embrace their divine Legacy bear the distinguished title of 'Apostles'." Additionally, about 50% of the world's population have been chosen by either a Deity or Ascended Constellation, while Natural Constellations make up the other 50%.

In the shadowed corners of Mythos, where constellations blaze and fade, the Apostles of Natural Constellations bear a burden both silent and profound. Here lies their tale:

Mortals, ever quick to judge, cast their eyes upon these apostles. Their constellations—once radiant—now pale. "Inferior," they whisper. "Lesser." The celestial hierarchy etches itself into mortal minds.

Divine Disregard:

The pantheons, aloof and regal, perpetuate this inequality. Zeus thunders, while minotaur's cower.

Forgotten gods, their robes threadbare, watch as their chosen one's stumble.

In marketplaces and moonlit alleys, the Natural Constellations tread. Their abilities—subtle yet potent—go unnoticed. Mortals scoff. "Why wield a siren's song when thunderbolts blaze?" Mythos trembles. Discrimination frays the cosmic fabric. Mortals, too, bear constellations—etched by bias.

A child gazes at the night sky: "Why am I less?"

In this imperfect world, the forgotten stars still shimmer. Perhaps, one day, they will blaze anew—a rebellion of constellations.
