Chapter 2: Student initiation

Adam for the past 10 days has been grinding stat points and he reached the AGI milestone which unlocked the skill shadow step which when activated made him 25% faster and 25% harder to detect when moving. He also unlocked the reading skill which made him read 2% faster as it was only level 2.

Level 1 (15/100)

STR: 7

VIT: 6

AGI: 10

INT: 12

Free Points : 0

SPECIAL STATS:

Magic: 7.9

Innate Ability: N/A

Skills: Memory Palace(max) , Shadow Step(max), Reading(2) , Fireball(0)

While his stat points had been growing nicely he noticed that it seemed to be slower for some stats than others he assumed that it had to do with his innate talents. It also seemed harder to increase stats the more stats he gained.

His xp in 10 days only went up by 5 points while even the weakest monster got him 10 xp points. It seemed the system valued defeating monsters but it still gave a low amount of points for auxiliary activities.

As he was practicing using his new mana training method. He heard a *Ding* but this time it wasn't from the system but from his phone. He hurriedly checked his email, he had been accepted into the academy. He instantly relaxed from the stress he didn't even know he carried.

He informed his parents of his acceptance and they celebrated all day.

*2 days later*

Adam was on his way to the train which would take him to the academy. He scanned his ID and entered the train. The train ran on electromagic, which Adam found fascinating. He was confused about how this world could be so similar yet so different.

Adam reached the Academy, the students had to perform another combat test to determine their classes and their academy points which could be used to learn skills, buy equipment or potions, they could even be used for private lessons from professors.

For the test, he had to kill 20 horned rabbits in 20 minutes. The more he killed and the faster he completed the task the more academy points he would earn. Horned rabbits couldn't be considered monsters as they weren't particularly strong or aggressive just some mutated rabbits.

The tough part of killing these rabbits is that they are at least 2-3 times faster than normal rabbits, very dextrous, and thus difficult to kill. He had to keep a constant pace of killing a rabbit every minute.

As his test started he immediately crept into the cave and used Shadow Step to ambush 3 rabbits in the first minute. By then all the rabbits had noticed his presence and started to run with speed that was as fast as his peak speed.

Adam started using fireballs to kill them from afar when they were close to the edge of the cave so they couldn't doge. he killed another 4 only 13 more to kill with 15 minutes left.

Adam was running low on mana . And his skill shadow step was still under cooldown for 5 minutes. So he decided to just sit and use his mana exercise to gather mana. He was sure he would just tire himself for minimal results if he mindlessly ran after them.

Quite lucky for Adam they were just rabbits and not aggressive or he would have been overwhelmed by their numbers. He realized he needed to work on his magic core and increase his capacity and quality of mana.

When his cooldown for Shadow Step was over he hid himself in the shadows of the cave and used Shadow Step which made him very difficult to notice. He then started spamming his fireballs he instantly rushed out of the cave.

When he got out he noticed only a couple of students he then realized he could have killed more and gotten a better score. On his ID he saw his score 20 kills in 13 minutes,10 seconds-500 tokens.

*Ding* Allocate free skill points, he had leveled up from killing those rabbits. he noticed 5 free skill points. which he instantly allocated 3 of to STR to unlock his attribute milestone.

*Ding* Attribute milestone reached skill unlocked - Power strike(max)

Deal 40% more damage with any attack but consume 1.3x more stamina/magic power.

This was the first skill that had a drawback and wasn't an instant boon. He had ranked 14th out of 100 students. which was a good impressive score he could only thank his luck he had trained his agility to 10 or it would be a massive struggle to reach the top 50.
