A thrust of the spine-like spear aimed itself for Ace's back, though was stopped halfway as Zero contorted his body around, instead holding his demon-faced shield to his left.

A hum filled the air as vibrations rattled even the most minuscule particles of dirt in the wind. The source of it came in the form of a torrent of spiraling light, flickering from dozens of shades. It slammed against the raised shield, pushing the [Second Phase] back. 

The devastating expulsion of energy came from the railgun forged of draconic bones, operated by the invisible sniper: 

[Apocalypse Cannon] [Primordial Rank Gun] 

"Beelzebub, Open," Zero commanded, pressing his shoulder against the back of the shield as his boots scraped through the soil. 

The scowling mouth of the shield stretched open, creaking like that of weary wood. As its maw stretched, the destructive coalescence of light began to be swallowed into its unseen depths.
