Chapter 20: PWA 20 First Night Camping I [Rewrite]

Not long after another encounter wild a wild Sentret and a Patrat who ends up in my sack and nets us another Berry from their paws, I and Kotonoha found a nice place to camp in a clearing with a big tree and rock formation around it that make out the shape of a U which will serve as a good cover for our tent.

Close by to that place, there is a small creek with clear, flowing water that is enough to dip our feet in it.

We let out our Pokémons to started searching for fire woods and foods like berries and mushrooms along with some edible leaves.

What? Even though I and Kotonoha have already bought our food rations in each of our bags, but that will only serves as food in emergency situation.

As long as we can gather foods from the surrounding nature, then we will save on our rations and eat whatever the wilderness give to us.

As our four Pokémons scampered around gathering woods and foods, I began my work to set up the tent where we will be sleeping in.

Hm hm hm~!

I can't wait for the night to come and me sleeping with Kotonoha in the same tent!

Although we will still be inside each of our own sleeping bags...

Meanwhile, Kotonoha have already began to prepare for our meals on dinner by skillfully beheading a spearow that she take out from my sack, before hanging it upside down in a tree to bleed it out while she is plucking its feather clean.

Along the way here, we have encountered at least a dozen group of wild Pokémons, they are all Pidgeys, Spearows, Rattatas, Patrats, Sentrets and another Zigzagoon.

All of them are Normal type Pokémons...

Good thing that Kasumi have learned a Ground type offensive move, even though they are still useless against the Normal / Flying type Pidgey and Spearow.

Sigh.... Talking about a bad typing combination.....

But Kasumi's Sand Attack and Leer are still a good help for my Pokémons in combat, though.

I have tried making Kasumi learned Tackle from Phinia and Zozo or Pound from Shion but to no avail.

Well, in the first place, her body is completely made up from steam.

How do you expect some damage from his Tackle and Pound, anyway?

Oh, by the way, to prevent an accident like a friendly fire from Phinia's teaching earlier, now I have the Pokémon who would teach the other Pokémons their move to execute their moves while targeting a wild Pokémon we encountered along the way while the Pokémon who would learn the move are watching carefully from the side and then attempt to copy the move by practicing it on another wild Pokémon we encountered later.

After all the battle and learning session we have today, Shion and Phinia managed to learn the move Quick Attack from battling against a horde of six Rattatas together.

Also, as bonus Shion have naturally learned her first Grass type move Bullet Seed as she progressed in her way to grow from combat experience.

And Phinia have also learned her second Flying type move after Peck, the Wing Attack that comes naturally to her as she also grow up mentally from her battling experience.

As for Zozo, I have tried to teach him to throw or slap the Mud that he make and used for his Mud Sport, this time for offensive purpose instead of just to reduce the effects of Electric type moves.

And after throwing and slapping the mud upon the face of every wild pokemons that he have encountered along the way, the Zigzagoon have finally learned both a Ground type move Mud Slap and Mud Shot at the end of the day.

Not wanting to lose with my Pokémons, Kasumi have also learned her first Water type move, Bubblebeam that is not only offensive but also can reduce her enemy's movement and attacking speed.

Hmmmm..... Her first move can cause paralysis and her second offensive move can lower her foe's speed.... All her offensive moves have a nice secondary effects unlike the other two starters who started with a measly tackle and learned some low powered attacks.

Why do I have a feeling that out of the three starter Pokémons, the Ghosteam would be the favourite for almost everyone?

Aside from letting my Pokémon learn some new moves, I also gathered every resources that we found along the way, be it the wild Pokémon's fainted body, their held items or the items that is picked up by Zozo.

So far we have gathered quite a lot of Berries, there are already a whole lot of Oran Berries and Sitrus Berries, along with a couple of Pecha Berry, a pair of Cheri Berry, a trio of Chesto Berry and a single rare Lum Berry that is all taken from the wild pokemons or harvested from the trees along our way in my Berry Pouch on the Bag.

And the sack is already half filled with Pokemon's fainted bodies.

The sack is like our pokeballs and Trainer's bag, there is a large amount of space inside of them that allow so much more stuffs to be stored inside it, it is a standard equipment to gather the corpse and Pokemon's body that we want to sell in the market later for some quick cash.

[ ] Author's Note [ ]

Yeah, although I have said before that Ghosteam is actually my favourite. That didn't means that I will make grooming it up until it is strong enough to be an easy journey.

That Pokémon is simply a good example of "Hardship in Early Lives, Comfort in Late Ages." In Indonesia, we have a saying like "Berakit - rakit ke Hulu, Berenang renang kemudian. Bersakit - sakit dahulu, Bersenang -senang kemudian."

I won't translate them to English as it will remove the word play and puns in there. But if you want an English term with similar meaning, then it would be something like "No Pain, No Gain".
