Chapter 83: Chapter 83: When the Punisher Becomes the Good Guy

"Can you find out anything specific about her?"

George asked his officers.

"We consulted with Vice Principal Morton at Midtown High School and he gave us some information. The constable reported to George Stacy. Stacey reported, "Ms. Helen is a biology teacher transferred from New Jersey, age twenty-seven, current status is single, and the mansion is supposed to be private property belonging to her."

Dewoguan interrupted the conversation between the two, "Have you contacted this Ms. Helen?"

"No, not by cell phone or otherwise, and she doesn't go to school."

George frowned at that, "Missing?"

"But so far we haven't found any bodies here."

DeWolfe's dry eyes roamed around the ruined building and said to George and Captain Custer, "Or do we have to keep digging through all this rubble and dirt?"

George did not say anything, he always felt that things would not be so simple.

The newcomer, Custer, gazed solemnly at the building in front of him.

He walked to a buried pile of stones, rummaged around for a moment, and found a piece of corroded off vine from the

Vine.

Staring at the corroded and pitted vine, combined with the buildings at the scene that had suffered great damage, he vaguely had a guess in his heart.

After a few moments, he turned his gaze to the construction building located to his left.

Putting away the vines, he walked straight towards the construction building.

George, who was next to him, turned his gaze to his partner when he saw him do this.

DeWolfe shrugged his shoulders, "Maybe he found something, let's follow and see."

On the rooftop of the building, several of Caster's men looked at the messy and chafed ground in front of them.

It was obvious that this was also one of the crime scenes.

George looked at Caster, who was carefully analyzing the scene, and turned his head to DeWolfe off, ''He looks very capable.

DeWolfe nodded in agreement with George's words, ''Of course, he has always been the most capable one.

...

The car sped down the road, splashing a few drops of rain on the street.

Frank. Custer drove the car towards the police station.

All the way there he was thinking about the clues he had found at the scene.

Spider-Man, unknown forces... These things made the expression on his face more and more serious.

Feeling the slight bumps, his fingers tightened on the steering wheel.

Caster was not a talker when he drove.

Driving a car gave him a feeling that nothing could match, and he was addicted to it.

The road stretched out before them like a black and white photograph, and the speedometer chugged, showing a speed of just under sixty miles.

Frank. Custer, came from a broken home.

When he was twelve, his father's gas station went bankrupt due to mismanagement.

The family, originally Sicilian immigrants, lost their income and life became difficult.

As a teenager he became violent and combative, preferring to solve problems with his fists.

Then he got a car and became even more reckless.

The car became his slave and his god.

It could give and take away his bad moods.

He'd had that experience many times; on sleepless nights when his mother and father were fighting, Custer would take the popcorn and drive after stray dogs.

Some mornings he'd shut off the engine and let the car slide into the garage he'd built behind the house, blood dripping from the front bumper.

But all that changed after he retired.

Now Custer has completely abandoned violent means.

He no longer believed in so-called superheroes and vigilantes.

In his opinion, those guys who punished criminals were also another kind of crime.

With "procedural justice" in mind, all he could think of now was how to bring those so-called superheroes to justice.

"Wow!"

The car drove past on the corner of the street and swept up a few fallen leaves.

Gwen wore a hood as the car driven by Custer drove by her.

Staring at her cell phone, she looked a little frustrated.

Despite explaining to Peter that she was out of sorts at the pool, it was still a little depressing to hear that Peter had taken the day off.

Asking Ms. Fish for a leave of absence for Peter wasn't difficult for her.

The point was that her plan of trying to talk to Peter face to face was a complete failure.

Midtown High School.

Gwen had just entered the classroom when she was pestered by Liz.

"Something very important, Gwen."

Liz said to Gwen with a serious expression, "We need you for the party at the end of the week.

"What?"

Gwen blinked, not sure what Liz meant by that.

"For the costume party this weekend, we need a band, and it just so happens that we have one at school - the Mary Jane Bandz' band."

The 'Mary Janes' band that Liz was talking about was the school band that Gwen was in."

Gwen was the drummer in it.

But since she was new to the band and didn't practice with it often, she kind of wandered away from it.

"I'll have to think about it."

Considering her ominous premonition, Gwen wanted to say no.

"But aren't you part of the band? Gloria and the girls are in it, do you want the band to fall apart?"

Liz coughed, then feigned pity and said to Gwen, "Unless you want me to invite the high school choir, which would be an absolute disaster."

The choir at Midtown High School has Mr. Morton and Miss Fish as members.

What party would probably be the disaster of the century once those two were in it.

"Well, I'll give it some serious thought, Liz."

Gwen continued to prevaricate, but her attitude had softened.

"Thanks, I'll be calling on all my channel subscribers to follow the Mary Janes' band."

Liz held her cell phone in front of Gwen's face for a moment before happily wrapping her arms around her.

Sitting back in her seat, Gwen took out her cell phone, curiosity driving her to look through Liz's personal channel. The content of the channel was mostly about novelty events or analysis of superheroes.

Soon she found strange footage in Liz's latest video release.

The equipment in the rainy night was not clear, and was constantly shaking, making the picture even blurrier. The video seemed to show Spider-Man fighting a "giant snake" or something like that.

But it was just a flash, so it was hard to tell if it was real or not.

Gwen's curiosity was piqued.

Did Spider-Man show up last night?

Supporting her chin with her right hand, her expression was somewhat chagrined.

She herself had gone to bed too early last night.

Shouldn't she have been out on the streets fighting criminals since she decided to become a superhero?

Exhaling in frustration, Gwen reflected on her lazy behavior.

"The ringing of the bell put an end to her ruminations.

First period was biology, but Mr. Morton suddenly announced the cancellation of biology class.

"Why?"
