Chapter 27: Chapter 27: The Beginning Of A Long Night

"Can you track the location where the bug's signal was last cut off, Dinah?" Jekyll asked calmly, looking at Dinah. With a serious expression, Dinah operated her phone for a moment and then nodded gently.

"The signal was cut off at a location twelve kilometers away from here. According to the map, it's the site of a bankrupt and abandoned thermal power plant."

As soon as she finished speaking, Dinah immediately stood up, her face filled with anxiety and restlessness.

"I'll go there now to rescue Harley. Walker, change into your combat gear and come to support me as soon as possible—"

"Dinah, calm down."

"Jekyll, you stay here for now and don't leave. If we don't come back in time, disguise yourself and go to Wayne Enterprises in Gotham City—"

"Dinah!"

Jekyll grabbed Dinah's slender arm forcefully, forcing her to turn around and meet his gaze.

Seeing the glistening teardrops in Dinah's eyes, Jekyll sighed inwardly. Despite rigorous training and superb combat skills, she was ultimately still a young girl.

"Listen, Dinah, I want to rescue Harley Quinn as much as anyone, and you know that too. If I were afraid of death, I wouldn't have intervened with you guys here. What's more unbearable to me than death is living with guilt."

Dinah fell silent, unexpectedly obediently listening to Jekyll's words, her slightly reddened nose wrinkling as she emitted a slight sob.

"But rushing in recklessly will only play into the enemy's hands.' Especially now, the enemy we're facing isn't just the Black Mask, but potentially a more dangerous entity. Therefore, we need to think carefully about every step we take."

After calming Dinah down, Jekyll fell into deep thought. The intelligence he heard from the bug just now was rapidly being analyzed in his mind.

Of all, what concerned him the most was the mysterious woman called Talia by the Black Mask.

From his knowledge of DC comics from his previous life, the name Talia, and the description, immediately brought a character to mind.

Talia al Ghul, the Daughter of the Demon Head, heiress to the League of Assassins, and the daughter of the super villain ninja master Ra's al Ghul.

Not to mention her ambiguous relationship with Batman and seemingly having a son. What Jekyll was more concerned about was the power behind Talia, the League of Assassins, a super villain organization.

Recalling all the experiences since crossing into this world, considering the involvement of the League of Assassins as the mastermind, many previous doubts can now be explained.

As a recently released prisoner from Blackgate Penitentiary, it would be logically impossible for the Black Mask to possess the mysterious technology to clone human bodies. However, with the assistance of the League of Assassins, it all makes sense.

It is well known that the leader of the League of Assassins, the ninja master Ra's al Ghul, possesses a treasure called the Lazarus Pit, which is said to be able to revive the dead. It is not surprising that this could be used to create clones.

But now is not the time to dwell on these details. What's important is that if Talia is involved, then it's clearly a trap with no way out.

Here, he only has a teenage version of Black Canary, a retired B-list villain, and Jekyll himself, who isn't much stronger than an average person. Undoubtedly, direct confrontation would be suicidal.

After taking a deep breath, Jekyll gathered his thoughts and made a decision.

"It seems there's only one way— I'll go alone to the abandoned power plant later, just as they said, and rescue Harley and Gordon."

Dinah and Walker's faces changed, especially Dinah. She rushed to Jekyll, grabbed his collar, and lifted him up, her cheeks flushing with excitement.

"Are you crazy? Are you really going to do as they say?! Do you think those guys will honor the deal?!"

"Calm down, Dinah, let me finish."

Jekyll smiled bitterly, patting Dinah's hand, signaling her to let him down.

Of course, Jekyll wasn't actually going to walk into the exchange willingly. Trading with super villains was undoubtedly bargaining with the devil, and he was very aware of that.

"Although I'll be going in alone, I need you both to stand by and be ready to support. But don't act recklessly without my notification."

"Do you need me to gather my former colleagues and those kids who used to be in Joker's gang to help? They're all big fans of Harley, and if they know she needs help—"

Walker's face was serious as he looked at Jekyll.

"Let's hold off on gathering them for now. Let's assess the situation first. If I'm not mistaken, the other side will definitely anticipate this. We'll discuss this later. Before going to the power plant, there's another place I need to go."

When it comes to this, Jekyll looks up at Dinah, and says seriously:

"Harley was planning to go see someone at the botanical garden. Do you know the address, Dinah?"

Dinah releases Jekyll's collar, then murmurs in confusion.

"I do know, but why ask now? Isn't what's happening with Harley more important?"

"Sharpening the knife won't delay the job. I have a hunch about what Harley wanted from her for me. It could be our last ace in the hole!"

Jekyll squints, seemingly without a doubt that this will be a long night.

"My dearest little pudding has come back to life~ I assume you've all heard the news, right? To make it clearer for everyone, my dear and I were planning to kill a few traitors for fun."

"But surprisingly, our little warning to the traitors doesn't seem to have caught your attention—so I've decided to put on a special show."

"Dun dun dun dun, guess who this is? Oh, the answer is the soundly sleeping Commissioner Gordon. While you're used to seeing the lively Commissioner Gordon, you may not be familiar with this version. But I think it's a good time to get acquainted, because from today on, you might only see the sleeping Commissioner Gordon~"

"Let's play hide and seek, GCPD. If you can find me by midnight tonight, you might just get your lively Commissioner Gordon back. If not—teehee, maybe Commissioner Gordon's funeral can start rehearsing~"

At 8:30 PM, this video featuring "Harley Quinn" and the unconscious Commissioner Gordon tied to a chair was sent to GCPD headquarters.

In addition to the confused GCPD detectives who saw this video, there was Walker, who learned the news from an internal source, and in the basement of an ordinary residential house in the suburbs of Gotham City, a red-haired woman sitting in front of a computer.

She picked up the phone on the table, which showed that it had been unable to connect for who knows how many times, and then she dialed another number, but there was no change in the result.

She sighed softly, then seemed to make some decision, stood up, and walked to the closet.

After opening the closet, she gently pressed a concealed switch, and the inside of the closet instantly flipped, revealing a set of jet-black leather clothes.

"Although I don't know what's happening, Harley, and Dad, I will definitely rescue you!"
