CHAPTER TWO: RESUMPTION
During the past two weeks before resumption, mom got me the necessary things I will need for school, like; my big exercise books, stationeries, my uniform, brand new wristwatch, a brand new white sneakers, black socks, brand new school bag and a new hair band that will match with my school uniform.
I feel ready to start my grade seven already.
Tomorrow is the day I will finally resume school and I am so glad for that. I looked at my well ironed school uniform folded on my chair in my room.
Another reason I love the school is that, the school uniform is something to be happy for. Black and white striped knee length skirt, white shirt and for the winter we got black jean jacket with the school logo on it.
I am also glad that I will be given IPad and instead of carrying large textbooks. The textbooks pdf will be included in the IPad and our school platform will be added to an app created by the school. I also read on the internet that the reason why the school chose their IPad instead of students normal phones is that the student won’t concentrate with their phones
Mom told me that, I will have to collect my IPad from the school bursar myself when I resume school tomorrow
I slept early so I can wake up early, as the saying goes: ‘early to bed, early to rise…’
I got to wake up early since I am resuming to one of my favourite schools, I hope the school students doesn’t have many bullies but friendly ones
The next morning…
I woke up as early as half past six in the morning. I went ahead to take my bath, brush my teeth and then rubbing lotion on my body, ready to dress in my school uniform. As soon as I wore my school uniform, I tied my hair neatly into a pony tail with the new hair band mom got me. I wore my wrist watch and then backed my school bag
“Christy, are you awake already?” mom asked from my room door
I walked towards my room door and surprised mom
“Oh… You are ready already” mom said surprised as she broke into laughter
“Yes ma’am, I got to be early on my first day” I said to mom smiling
“Okay, I am very proud of you” mom said as we both walked to the kitchen “Let’s prepare something simple like toast and fried egg” mom said as she leaded the way to the kitchen
“Yes mom”
After breakfast,
Mom went to dress up so she can take me to school since it is my first day
As mom drove, I started thinking and imagining how my school will look
“We are here already!” mom said waking me from my thought
“So quick?” I asked as I looked at the window as mom parked the car in the garage
“The school isn’t really far if you used either bus or car” mom said
Wow! The school compound is very large and attractive at the same time
“You can get down from the car” Rosa said to me through the car window
Geez… She even came to school before. Right timing!
I got down from the car, took my scholarship paper from mom and then closed the door of the car after saying bye to mom
“When did you come?” I asked her as soon as my mom left the school’s compound for the road
“I came to school not too long your mom’s car entered the school’s compound” Rosa answered as we walked together into the school building
“Wow! It means I came at the right timing” I said as we decided to walk to the school’s bursar to get our locker number, class number and our schedule throughout the session
“Do you know the way to the bursar’s office?” Rosa asked me as if feeling lost on our way
“No, I thought you knew” I answered her surprised by her question
“Lol” she laughed “let’s ask one of the students we come across?” she suggested
“Okay” I agreed with her nodding my head
“Excuse me!” Rosa said to a female student that is walking towards us
“Yes?” the female student asked as she looked at us wondering why we stopped her from walking
“Can you give us the directions to the bursar’s office?” Rosa asked the female student politely
“Yes of course!” the female student answered “You are going to walk straight from here and then if you see a green locker, you will turn to your right. The first door you see by your right is the bursar’s office” she added
“Thanks!” Rosa smiled as the female student walked passes us
“I guess we aren’t even far from there” I shrugged as we walked towards the direction told by the female student
After a minute or so from walking, we got to the bursar’s office
Rosa knocked on the door since she got there before me
“Come in!” the bursar said from inside the office
Rosa opened the door and left it opened for me to enter, I closed the door behind me and walked with Rosa to the bursar’s office
“Good morning! How may I help you?” the female woman who is the bursar asked
“We are the newly scholarship students that just got registered into this school” I answered for both Rosa and me
“Oh… Congratulations! Can I see your scholarship form? The one given to you in your letter” the bursar requested
I handed her my paper and the same goes to Rosa as well
“I see, I see…” she said as she checked our papers and then looked into her computer for something before looking back at us “You know getting scholarship into this school is a lot. I am proud of you two to be part of the lucky students to be given scholarship into this school” the bursar said smiling as she printed out papers from the printer and stapled three papers together and did it for the other one before handling it to us.
“Thank you ma’am” Rosa and I said together as we collected the paper from the bursar
“I am Mrs. Yusuf!” she said looking at both of us “In the paper given to you, you will find your locker number, your class number, a map of this school, timetable for your class and I made sure to put the way to your homeroom teacher office in the map” she explained as I looked at the stapled papers on my hand to see if any of it in there
“Got it!” Rosa said and I nodded in agreement
