Chapter 19: The General Wants Her

District Head Catania, Agripa Olympius, pushed open the door to Diggory's office and walked in without knocking.

"Have you heard?" he asked.

Diggory, who was seated at his desk, immediately looked up, staring at his brother-in-law with a displeased expression. Diggory had long harbored a dislike for Agripa. The man tended to belittle him, assuming that Diggory owed him for helping him achieve his current position.

"Everyone has heard, Agripa," Diggory replied flatly. "Timothy Lanisius died in his sleep last night. Yes, I heard."

Agripa grabbed a chair across from Diggory's desk and seated himself without waiting to be invited. It made Diggory feel uneasy. But of course, he couldn't say anything.

"Vale is now in a panic to find a successor for the District Head," Agripa continued. "I intend to nominate Charles for the position."
