Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Don't worry, sweetie. You're safe.

Finding what I was searching for with my spreading flames, I latched around the elixir Ingvild had just imbibed. I split it apart with my flame and began to ferry it throughout Ingvild's body.

From what I remembered, Ingvild had originally woken up when her Sacred Gear awoke and shocked her system out of its slumber. I was trying to shock her awake in a different way. I was going to flood her body with fire and wake-up potion and keep swinging around the magical equivalent of a restorative sledgehammer until it either worked or I was too tired to continue. Perhaps this wasn't the best plan, but it was the only one I had.

I ferried the potion all around her body. Through her legs. Her stomach. Her heart. He–

Ingvild Leviathan shot upright in her bed, gasping as her eyes flew wide.

As soon as she was up, I recalled all of my fire out of her.

Ingvild let out a pained cry as the last of my fire left her. She turned towards me with frightened eyes, but Serafall stepped between us, arms raised in front of her placatingly.

"Easy! He was helping you. You've been asleep a long time. What's the last thing you remember?"

Ingvild's fear turned to confusion. "I was…I was…Where am I?"

"Don't worry, sweetie. You're safe. Come with me; we'll get you situated." Serafall helped her to her feet, then looked over her shoulder at me. The Leviathan gave me a very purposeful nod before helping Ingvild out of the secret room, shielding the girl's eyes from the destroyed devil bodies around her.

As I watched one of the greatest secrets of the world, one I'd planned to take the utmost advantage of, limp away in Serafall's arms, I couldn't help but sigh. All I could do now was take care of myself and my people. Yubelluna and Calrissa's fates had been tied to mine. I wouldn't let them down.

It had been a little over a week since Serafall Leviathan and I had awoken Ingvild. I wasn't too sure what all Serafall discussed with her, but she had verified that Ingvild did indeed possess a Longinus – apparently it had awakened when Serafall reincarnated her – and Serafall had used a mutation bishop she'd traded away from some minor lord to reincarnate Ingvild.

The Underworld was reeling from the news. The New Satan Leviathan had a willing servant of the original Leviathan line who – unlike Katerea Leviathan, one of the three leaders of the Old Satan Faction – could use her clan trait. Almost all who doubted the power of the New Satans were instantly disproven.

With so much focus now placed directly on Serafall and her newest peerage member, no one cared about the scorned Phenex son. With Serafall's help, I was able to disappear from the public eye without so much as a peep from anyone looking to take advantage of me or my perage. If the rather obvious manner in which Serafall was parading around with me didn't discourage enemy action against us, the steading she granted us would.

When Serafall and I had made our initial deal, I'd made sure she left Yubelluna with a signed copy of everything, but I still wasn't sure the Satan would honor her agreement. I needn't have worried. Not only did Serafall deliver all I'd asked for, she'd exceeded my wildest expectations.

When I'd requested a home and land, I'd expected to receive a small house with a ten acre farm around it. Instead, she gave me one of her personal vacation homes and all the amenities and items therein. All I wanted out of this was somewhere my peerage and I would be safe, but I got a home that rivaled the Phenex Manor in certain areas. No one would be stupid enough to miss the very obvious faft that Serafall had given me one of her personal estates. Serafall had sent a very clear message to anyone with a brain. I was under her protection now.

The grounds surrounding the estate for fifty-thousand acres were now mine. Apparently, Satans vacationed in style. It wasn't even close to as sizable as the Phenex estate, or any Pillar for that matter, but it was still large enough to restore my nobility. On those lands was a large lake and a river bending off from it as well as a vast, sparse forest. The manor itself was four stories tall with two sub-levels, a basement and a vault. Within the home was every piece of furniture I could ever want. A fully equipped and stocked kitchen. Two separate research labs. A training area. And a full armory of various weapons and armor. The basement contained a war room and magical holding cells, and while Serafall had cleaned out the vault below stating, "I can't trust you with this stuff.", it still made for a fantastic place to lock away anything of value I might acquire through various means. I was sure that while Serafall had turned over full control of the incredibly potent wards to me, she likely still had a way into the mansion if she ever felt she needed it. Even so, I couldn't have been happier. If the steading was anything to go by, she was rather pleased to know me at the moment. I had no plans to ever piss her off in any way, especially in the near future, so for the moment, we could rest easy.

Things had more or less quieted down. We were removed enough from any major cities that the only reason people would bug us was if they were dedicated. The major news agencies were now too focused on Serafall's newest bishop to care too much about the scorned Phenex son. Things were almost…good.

Sitting in the manor's…my manor's – that was still weird – sitting room, I inspected the sword resting in my lap. It was the silver blade I took from the devil guarding Ingvild after I killed her. I'd never seen anything like it.
