Chapter 51: Unpalatable Position 

After a brief moment of silence that felt like an eternity, amidst Nikki's constant hollering of his name, David said, "Don't worry. Nikki doesn't know about this place." His words relieved Carissa and she let out a sigh of relief.

Looking around, she thought aloud, "What now? She's calling out to you."

"I will go to her."

"What? Then she's going to see you coming out and know about this room, which means she's definitely going to come here and find me."

He suppressed a chuckle at her flustering and shook his head. "I'm not leaving through that door, but through there." He gestured to the ensuite bathroom. Quickly, he got out of bed and started dressing up.

Carissa watched him, baffled. She followed him into the bathroom and was stunned when he pressed a mechanism button that opened a marked spot on the floor at the center of the bathroom. Peaking through, her lip parted upon sighting a staircase leading down. 

It was a secret exit!
