Chapter 24: Rumble

Marvin looked at Grandpa Max and asked, "Have you told him about his parents?"

Grandpa Max shook his head and said, "After that accident eight years ago, he began to hate them. Although, after all this time while his hate is gone, he still doesn't like them, or more like he doesn't care about their existence now. I once tried to explain about the actions they took that day, but he didn't want to hear it."

Marvin smiled and said, "In that case, Elle and Lex are really similar."

Grandpa Max raised his eyebrows and asked, "She doesn't care about her parents' existence?"

"You can guess from her character."

"Makes sense."

Denver, who was on the side, was dumbfounded. He had only said that because he wanted to divert the topic, he had thought Lex would be rejected like him.

What the fuck was happening this then? Did he perhaps force Lex into an arranged marriage thing?

Denver began sweating hard as he thought of that. If Lex got to know of this, then his execution was confirmed. Lex wouldn't even leave his corpse.

'Fuck! I really need to keep my mouth shut.' Denver cursed himself as he gave a slap to himself, mentally. It would be weird if he did that in front of two old men.

Denver knew Lex wanted a harem and was even capable of forming one. The only reason he didn't make it till now was because he didn't want a weakness before he solved his feud with the organisation.

At least Denver only knew of that reason, as Lex hadn't really told him much. Even this much information only came after Denver made Lex drunk.

Denver sighed and thought, 'Nothing can be done now, My brother. You have to solve this yourself now. I have given you a chance to have a woman like Elle in your harem. How you make the best of this opportunity depends on you.'

Finally, after thinking for some time, Marvin said, "If you're the one who's recommending Lex, then I can believe he's a good lad. So how about this? We'll give them time to get to know each other. Maybe in this way, Elle would begin to understand love."

"Sure, but just remember one thing. That lad could die any moment. The ones at the top of The Obsidian Council won't rest still until they see the corpse of Lex, and Lex isn't someone who will hide, so choose carefully."

Denver scoffed and said, "Gramps, he's not alone, you know. He's got a brother here. Do you seriously think he's alone like he was eight years ago?"

Grandpa Max just smirked and said, "You tryna take words from my mouth?"

"As if he needs an old man like you. What are you gonna do? You can't even be a proper meat shield." Denver rolled his eyes and said.

Grandpa had a tick on his forehead as he raised his fist and said, gritting his teeth, "Do you want to see what I can do?"

"Cough, I was just joking! Joking!!" Denver raised his hands in the air and said.

Marvin shook his head with a smile on his lips, seeing the childish banter in front of him.

"Don't worry about his safety. I owe his parents a lot. If I let their child die while they are away protecting our kingdom, I won't be able to face them." Marvin said, his aura turning regal and commanding.

The elderly man was in his late sixties; his face was expressionless and yet seemed dignified. Because he once had served in the military, he exuded an air of magnificence, intimidation, and heroism. He was a man who had braved countless storms.

"I will do my best to protect him, even if it means dragging the Stark family into this," Marvin said.

Grandpa Max's face turned serious as he asked, "Are you sure about that, old Marvin?"

"Max, you know how the world works. I can't always shield Elle. She's a fragile girl. Although I've been keeping her away from the dark side of the world, she can't continue to live like this once I'm dead." Marvin said.

"So it's fine, I'm not doing this for myself but to protect Lex," Marvin said.

Grandpa Max nodded and placed his hand on Marvin's shoulder. He said, "Good, then let's once again enter the battlefield like we used to."

"Haha, but this time, the chances of us dying are high." Marvin laughed and said. He didn't seem worried about his death one bit.

"I seriously don't understand why you guys keep forgetting that Lex has a brother," Denver said as he tapped his foot on the ground.

The next moment, the ground beneath them began to rumble, and they felt like an earthquake had come. Four pillars of earth rose from their sides as they towered over them.

Denver smiled and stopped as the pillars dispersed back on the ground.

Grandpa Max raised his eyebrows in surprise and said, "You actually improved so much?"

Denver raised his chest in pride and rubbed his nose. He said, "Hehe, do you think I was joking when I said Lex has a brother who would stand in front of him like a shield."

Grandpa Max laughed out loud and said, "Haha, I'm really blessed. All of my four grandchildren are so talented."

He then looked at Denver and said, "Although you're still the weakest, I have to say I'm proud of you."

"Your Geomancy has really progressed." Marvin also praised from the sides.

"Hehe, praise me more." Denver smiled and said.

Grandpa Max took a deep breath and said, "Now I understand how Lex feels."

"What was that rumbling just now?" Elle asked as she came towards them, perfectly ready.

"Oh! That, I was just showing my ability to Grandpa Marvin, awesome, right?" Denver asked.

"For breakdance? Yes, it is. But don't use your ability here, the ground would just be disturbed." Elle said as she sat on one of the chairs.

"Yes, ma'am!!" Denver saluted and said.
