Chapter 13: The Crazy Stranger

Rendell learned more things from Kent. The guy even gave him some insights about the recent changes and he was very detailed with it.

"You're smart. You must have been an honor student." Rendell chuckled.

Kent's face remained impassive.

"Do you intend to share the storage room with us?" He asked all of a sudden after being silent for a while.

Rendell stared at him deeply and responded while shrugging his shoulders. "I don't mind sharing the storage room with your group, but you guys have to follow what I say."

Kent pushed up his glasses and glanced back at him. "What if we disagree?"

Rendell was amused by his hostile gaze. "Then that wouldn't be too good for both parties. You see, I don't want to hurt anyone, but if you guys test my patience, then that would leave me with no choice... I would prefer it if you guys do that…" He smiled provocatively.

His words made Kent realize that Rendell was not some decent person. No normal person would have said the same thing. He no longer dared to test him out and lowered his gaze. "I apologize for speaking presumptuously." He muttered.

Rendell was a bit amazed by how quickly he changed his attitude. "It's fine. It's just small talk." He waved his hand as if he was unbothered by what Kent had said.

Kent lifted his head and stared at him. "Since we are all on the same boat now, can you tell me what plans you have?"

Hearing this, Rendell leaned against the wall and responded with a serious look."I only have one goal and that is to get out of this city." The apocalypse came at the right time. With the world in chaos, his plan to destroy the Madrigal Family was no longer impossible. He just needed to grow strong enough to eliminate all of them. To achieve this goal, he had to get out of Lochwall as soon as possible. He knew a member of the Madrigal Family who lives in Greyork. That person gave his family a hard time back then. 'I hope you're still alive!' He muttered coldly in his heart.

Kent nodded his head. This was in line with his plans so he could accept it. 'If we have this guy in our group, we would gain a strong fighting force. Our chances of survival will increase and we no longer have to worry about facing the evolved monsters.' He thought deeply.

"After James and Phillip wake up, we should discuss this over as a group." Kent wanted to put this plan into motion. They only encountered a few evolved monsters in the past few days, but based on his observations, their numbers would swell up soon. They had to leave Lochwall before that happened.

"Alright." To his surprise, Rendell agreed without hesitation.

"Then I'll go inform them."

"Suit yourself." Rendell waved his hand.

"What did he say?" Celine asked with a tense gaze. After knowing that Rendell was a few levels higher than them, she felt incredibly nervous about their safety.

Kent sat in the middle of the group and said. "He said that he will share the storage room with us only if the group listens to him."

"You mean he wants us to be his lackeys?" Ericka felt that it was ridiculous.

Kent gave her a stern gaze. "We don't have a choice. That guy isn't even afraid of our group. He is even looking forward to fighting with us. He is a sicko so we shouldn't go against him. Besides, his objective coincides with my plans."

The ladies turned silent at his words.

"He looks crazy, but we can make use of his strength to get out of this city. I believe the government and the army are still holding out somewhere." He paused and adjusted his glasses before he continued. "There is an army camp in Greyork. We can seek shelter there."

"Do you think the army is still there?" Celine asked in a low voice. Her father was a high-ranking officer in the army and was stationed in Greyork. All this time, she was thinking about him as well as her family.

Kent shook his head. "I'm not sure. All gadgets were fried so we can't confirm this. We need to go there to see the situation."

Aurora held her hand and gently said. "Your father will be fine, Celine. Uncle is a high-ranking military officer and he can even mobilize the army. There should be a lot of soldiers who received powerful Gifts."

"I hope so." Celine forced out a smile.

Kent stared at Celine deeply. This was also the reason why he wanted to go there. If Celine's father was still alive, they would receive the protection of the army. Even without modern firearms, a well-trained army would still be powerful. "Sir Ralph is still recuperating so we can't leave in the next few days. For now, we should come up with a plan to safely evacuate the city."

"Will that guy even listen to our opinions?" Ericka asked in a quiet voice while nervously sneaking glances at Rendell.

Kent sighed and took off his glasses. He then rubbed his eyes with his thumb and forefinger. "We'll find out soon." He replied.

Time slipped by in the blink of an eye.

It was already noon and the temperature inside the room was very hot. The air conditioners weren't working so everyone had to bear with the heat.

Phillip shot his eyes open and sat upright with an irritated look. "It's so hot! Dammit!" He was sweating all over his body and it made him feel extremely uncomfortable.

He took off his shirt and threw it to James who was still in the middle of his sleep.

Feeling the damped shirt on his face, James opened his eyes. He grabbed the shirt and flung it over the wall. He then let out an exasperated sigh while wiping off the sweat on his face. "What do you think you're doing?" He glared at Phillip.

Phillip raised his fist while glaring back at him. "What are you going to do about it?"

James' face twitched. He suddenly felt the urge to punch Phillip's face, but he just laughed it off while shaking his head.

"Hey! I need you two here." Kent's voice suddenly echoed to their ears.
