Chapter 22: :Demon King Barnas

Cy fell on his knees, holding his chest. Perplexed, he wondered what that thing was—holding a book and casting spells. But the next thing Cy heard gave him a heart skip.

"Law of permanent death."

Once again, an enormous wave blasted Cyrus against the wall, causing another round of metallic blood to splatter on his face and from his mouth.

The mage gave Cyrus a stern look. Perplexed, he pondered how Cyrus was still alive and standing like a zombie.

"I think I get it now," muttered Cyrus, his eye possessing a crimson hue.

"The reason for the instant quest is to eliminate any potential threat, simply put," Cy's right eye glowed as he voiced. "It wants me to be the only strongest being and eliminate anything that stands in the way as a threat."

The orc mage's demeanor remained unfazed. He stared at the glowing red book on his palm and cast the spell once more.

"Law of permanent death."

All that happened was rocks splattering up like falling pieces of chess. And with every step the emotionless Cyrus took, Barnas' daughter would stumble backward.

With every step he took closer, her heartbeat grew even louder. Scared and frightened to even imagine what Cy would do to her.

He connected his devastating punch against the law mage's gut so hard his sleeve ripped out. Yes, he heard the chin crack.

And as the demon fell on his knees in front of Cyrus, our protagonist materialized his dagger and slashed off its head.

Cyrus was now left alone in this ruined palace, staring at the throne and thinking of one pure bastard. "Barnas," said Cyrus as he began sauntering out of the room.

On a round metallic table that had a map covering the full borders, different types of men and women were there.

Elf, skeleton Berserker king, demon-human, and some other demons. The round table of the ten highest demons ranks.

After a moment of silence that lasted for three minutes, the skeleton Berserker king broke the silence. "I was wondering when we would come to realize."

Another moment of silence.

"He's right, but I've been noticing how his growth increases in a short period," said a demon with fangs.

"Maybe he's the one Lord Destruction is nurturing," eventually, the peng elf commented.

"Don't forget the beast summoned. He's already giving himself the title of the strongest summoned... Do you think Lord Destruction would overlook that?"

The elf and Berserker king shared a glance at themselves. Of course, they knew who this summon was.

"We realize he has potential that rivals the demon kings, but we also know his potential would have a limit," said the peng elf.

The Berserker king placed his hands on his chin and stared at the map as if looking at an invisible note.

"But what we don't know is the other one. Does his growth seem to have limits? He's been growing ceaselessly, but can he grow endlessly?" muttered the Berserker king.

Inside a gigantic palace filled with endless demon Orcs and demon king Barnas sitting at the end.

All the demon Orcs, all attention were stolen by Barnas. "She. Has. Failed. Me," he muttered as if counting his words in a demonic tone.

Other demon kings betrayed Lord Destruction, but Barnas couldn't help but feel rage that he was the one the Round Table was coming after first.

"Why let. Them Bring. The Fight. To Me?"

He stood up looking all mighty as a demon king should look like. Of course, he wasn't the strongest demon king, but hell, he does not run away from a challenge.

His eyes glowed behind the goat mask with two horns. Ferociously, he ordered.

"If it's a fight they want... Then it's a war we shall give them... Bring me the human who dared challenge demon king Barnas."

As those words left his mouth, the whole nation of demon Orcs roared above the demon's vocal cords. "Advance."
