Chapter 65: He’d Been…Shot?

Caesar shook his head.

"No. Report to me when you are done," he responded without looking up from the screen of his phone. He was distracted by his work.

Nikolai nodded and returned his attention to the road ahead of them.

They were thirty minutes outside of the city, driving on the dark, rugged roads of the countryside.

There were a few minutes of silence before Caesar lifted his head, suddenly having a thought. "Nikolai, how is Rurik? Did he arrive in Italy safely?"

"Yes, sir," Nikolai replied. "He has settled down in the hotel with his daughter. And yes, he asked me to relay his gratitude to you. He will be sure to give you a call."

Caesar shook his head. "No, it's alright. I just wanted to know-"

His words were cut short as a sudden frown painted his face. He turned his head and took a look behind them.
