Chapter 2: The thing from the coffin

"Light." the being uttered.

Its eyes were still closed and although the word had come from it, its mouth hadn't moved.

The being was a creature the adventurers had never seen before, its head was like that of a goat, its jaw was large with exposed fangs adorning it, and its body was as wide as that of two men with black fur encompassing its skin.

It suddenly opened its eyes.

Eyes yellow like a goat, three large horns jutted from its head, two curved on each side with the one in the middle sticking forward. Its arms were large and its fingers stretched with dangerously long and sharp claws on them.

Nothing but a long black skirt covered this creature, the other adornments were rings and bracelets on its fingers and wrists.

Its jaw moved and word escaped from it.

"How many years has it been?" He bellowed coming off the coffin.

"A hundred, a thousand? Maybe sending Redifax away was a bad idea, he would have woken me not some…" he paused and looked at the adventurers.

They remained unmoving witnessing the strange creature, strangely fear wasn't present in their eyes.

'What's this? Do they not know who I am?' he thought.

"Children." He completed.

"And I see that you're Intruders as well, very well since you woke me from my slumber, I will forgive you bunch. Now leave before I change my mind."

A stifled laugh interrupted him and it was from none other than the leader of the band.

However, he couldn't hold it in anymore and busted out laughing. His mates joined in the mockery as well.

'They dare mock me. What is this?!'

Anger dispersed through him.

"I shall not be mocked! Especially not in my abode!" The Demon Lord bellowed.

He slowly raised his hand and mana materialized into a fiery large flame.

He swung his arm raining balls of flame on the group.

Their leader shot forward his hands, a transparent blue field emanated from it and protected them all from the attacks.

'Hmmm, that protection spell. I have not seen it before. Is it a new thing?' he paused observing the shield.

The leader dissipated the shield and leaped at the Demon, he struck down with all of his weight.

BAMMM!

Dust clouded everywhere upon the collision, and as it dispersed, an imagery of the adventurer pushing his blade down against the hands of the demon Lord was exposed.

The demon Lord smirked.

He swung the sword to the side and struck a blow to the man's chest sending him flying.

The rest of the group came at him. Powerful fists were thrown, rain of rocks and flame followed and slashes from a great sword but all these didn't faze the strange entity as he easily parried them.

He punched the ground and rocks from below jutted upwards striking them and pushing them off him.

The group reorganized and stood by each other.

"He's quite strong but his Mana isn't impressive. It's odd." The female mage commented.

"Perish." The demon lord stated and thrust forward his right-hand index finger. Mana flowed from his center right to the channels and coalesced at the tip, the Mana of the surrounding followed suit and sucked into the magic spell he executed.

"Aztel's finger." He stated.

The Mana materialized into a black energy with a fiery hue burning from within it, it morphed into a massive finger and zoomed at the bunch.

The leader and mage both came forward and thrust forward both of their hands generating the field that had protected them before albiet larger and stronger.

Screeching sounds emanated as the deathly finger met the wall of magic, flickers of blue light escaped from the spot and a shockwave grew.

"This, what magic is this? It fends against magic that eats the soul. How is that so?" He questioned speaking to himself.

'There's a lot that I do not know.'

"Claudine go!" Cried their leader.

Suddenly, the woman with the sword leaped off the shield flipping in the air with her blade clenched in her hand.

She spun and arrived overhead the demon striking down her blade to his head.

"No you don't." He said and thrust up his hands, his claws grew many inches till they were thin knives in that instant and he parried the strike intercrossing his claws.

Demon Lord Tiagon Derigax smirked as he stopped the strike of the lady.

'This is an interesting development. Only a few could keep up with me and yet this group…'

Still in the air, the woman twisted and landed a kick on his face sending him staggering back and out of nowhere came their other closed range fighter. He took the opening and released a barrage of heavy blows on Tiagon.

Twelve punches, thirty punches, fifty punches, one hundred and twenty punches on the face and he concluded with a punch to Tiagon's exposed abdomen and sent him flying through the wall of the cellar.

"Got him." Claudine stated.

The other two had worked together and they had now contained the black fiery finger into a ball of the force field.

"Not quite."

Tiagon suddenly appeared behind him like an apparition, his large frame towering over the adventurer.

"Teleportation magic!"

"Max!"

CRACK

He swiftly twisted his neck turning him dead on the spot.

"No." Claudine uttered.

"Claudine, don't! Come back!" The other female adventurer yelled as her friend rushed at the monster that stood before them.

A large grin rested on Tiagon's face exposing his fleshy gum.

Claudine jumped with all of her might at him, Tiagon was just a few inches away when a large sword of black shot out of the ground before him and went through her.

Blood splotched the floor around and rained down into the abyss from where the sword came.

The space closed and the sword descended and disappeared.

Claudine's lifeless body struck the ground.

Tiagon crotched and touched her opened torso with his fingers.

"Don't you dare touch her!" The white-haired adventurer cried.

"Don't worry, she'll meet you soon." Tiagon said and a purple flame escaped from his hand and seeped into her.

Her body darkened and turned purple, a bump protruded from her chest and then went back in, it scurried hastily and suddenly stopped again.

Claudine's body twitched and her eyes turned, although they had been corrupted and made into purple. She slowly got up, her wound no longer oozing blood.

"Been a while since I've made one. An undead."

Her body twitched some more and skin began tearing as her muscles swole. She tore through her outfit and became a large mass of purple flesh, her face contorted showing that she was just a shell of who she was.

"Kill them."
