Chapter 2: 002:FRIEND OR FOE?

Dameon felt his heart pounding hard against his ribcage after hearing those words. He tried speaking to the voice using his thoughts but couldn't hear it anymore.

He now felt weary around everyone in the bus. He didn't know who he could trust, he didn't even know if he could trust 'the voice'.

"You don't look ok." Sandra said still worried about him.

"I'm fine, just a bit dizzy." Dameon responded.

Dameon thought it would only wear him out now if he thought about it too much, so he pushed it to the back of his mind

Everything was silent till they reached the mansion. The bus weaved through neatly cut hedges of swans before coming to a stop in front of a beautiful huge swan shaped water fountain decorated with jewels. The mansion behind the fountain was more impressive, making the fountain look pathetic. It's intricate design was a sign that the architects who planned it out were the best in the world.

"It seems I was born to a rich family." Dameon mutters under his breath.

They got off the bus and walked to the porch of the mansion. As they neared the mansion, the huge doors opened revealing a luxurious grand foyer.

Servants, neatly dressed in their uniforms, bowed as they entered the grand foyer. Dameon could feel them looking at him even though they were still bowing .

"Welcome, sir." One of the Butler said approaching his father.

"Dismissed." His father said without even looking at them.

All of the servants stopped bowing and headed to do their work. The butler, followed his father up the stairs and into a private room. Nobody was following them so Dameon didn't dare follow them.

"Do you remember where your room is Dameon?" His mother asked him coldly.

"No, not really." Dameon replied. He couldn't remember anything, not even their names. He only knew Sandra's name after hearing it.

"I'll show him where it is." Sandra said

"No, Adrian will." His mother said sternly, looking at his brother.

His brother looked at mother with unease before nodding.

"I want Sandra to take me." Dameon said voicing his opinion.

A surprised look flashed across his mother's face, before she responded.

"Fine, I don't care either way." His mother said walking away.

It's not like Dameon fully trusted Sandra, she was just the one he trusted the most. Plus, he could get information from her.

"Come on, I'll show you your room." Sandra said as everyone started dispersing to their rooms.

They walked through a series of beautifully decorated hallways before arriving at a small humble door that was clearly different from the rest, unfortunately it wasn't different in a good way.

"Sorry, I have to grab something real quick, stay here." Sandra said entering the room.

A few minutes later, she got out of the room.

"Sorry about that, let's go." She said walking a few paces ahead of Dameon.

"Was that your room?" Dameon asked slightly confused.

"Ummm, yeah." She responded embarrassed.

Dameon didn't press any further. They walked in silence for a few minutes before Sandra spoke up.

"Do you remember anything?" Sandra asked him.

"I remember stuff in bits and pieces." He responded choosing his words carefully. He did feel bad about lying to her but he wanted to know if she could be trusted.

"I see." She responded sadly.

They arrived at a bigger door than before. It was made out of beautiful mahogany wood. The door handles were cut to look like rose petals.

"Here it is, I'll be going now." Sandra said before turning around to leave.

"Sandra, wait." Dameon said. If he wanted information, this was the best time to ask her since they were alone. But he still didn't know if he could trust her.

"What is it?" She said turning around to look at Dameon.

"I know what you did." Dameon said.

"What are you talking about?" She asked purely confused.

"You can't fool me, I know it was you." He said pressing her further.

"I seriously don't know what you are talking about." She replied confused.

An awkward silence lasted for a few seconds before Dameon spoke up again.

"I'm sorry, I'm just confused and don't know who to talk to ." Dameon said carefully picking his words. He had decided to give Sandra the benefit of the doubt for now after considering her reactions.

Of course he couldn't trust her just based on this, he could test her in the future if he wanted.

"Is something wrong? You can talk to me." Sandra said innocently.

It was just what he wanted, now all he had to do was invite her to his room to get information.

"Can you come inside? It'll be weird if we talk out here." Dameon said.

Sandra froze at Dameon's words, she looked at Dameon shocked by the words he said.

"What's wrong?" Dameon asked instantly regretting what he said.

"I...it's nothing, you've changed, you never let me enter your room." Sandra said regaining her composure.

They both walked into the spacious well lit room. One of the walls was made of glass, meant to be a window granting access to a stunning view of the western horizon.

At the center of the room was a small yet stylish glass table with two bean cushions set on each side of the table. A king sized bed stood opposite the glass window finishing the bedroom. There was a door that probably led to the bathroom.

"Wow." Dameon muttered unintentionally looking around his room like a child in a candy shop.

"You really don't remember anything do you?" Sandra said

"Like I said, bits and pieces, besides I don't even know what's going on myself." Dameon replied.

"What do you remember?" Sandra asked curiously.

This wasn't going as Dameon thought it would, he had intended to interrogate her but it seemed she was the one interrogating him. He had to change that.

"I remember that someone did something to me." He said trying to be as vague as possible.

"What thing?" Sandra pressed him for more

"I don't know, anyways, can I trust you?"Dameon said trying to divert the topic

"Yeah, of course you can." Sandra replied.

"I don't remember anything about everyone." Dameon said

"What do you mean?" Sandra asked slightly confused.

"I don't know anybody, even you." Dameon said hoping his little explanation had reached her.

Sandra tilted her head slightly as if trying to understand, which Dameon thought was cute, before she responded.

"I see, so you don't know anybody, including me." Sandra said, her voice contained hints of sadness.

"If you could tell me about everyone, including you, I think I could remember. One more thing, please tell me everything, even if it isunpleasant." Dameon said.

"Ok, I'll try my best." Sandra said

Sandra started telling Dameon everything. She started with the family first. The Hat family was one of the richest families in the world. They owned a company called Hat jeweleries. It owned over 500 mines that mined for precious stones and over 100 jewelery stores worldwide.

His father Dylan Hat was the CEO of the company and head of the Hat family. Dylan's first wife, Sarah Hat, was Dameon's mother. She died in a car accident and his father remarried Alexa Hat, Dameon's step mom. Dameon was the heir of the family but nobody wanted him to inherit the company, including his father. His step brother, Adrian Hat, was second in line and his father's favorite.

Sandra also told him about his other relatives but he didn't think they were important. There was also stuff about betrothed relatives, including his step brother, but Dameon didn't care about it.

By the time they were done, the room had a pink hue from the setting sun. They had talked for nearly five hours.

As Sandra was standing up to leave, Dameon stopped her, he still had one question he thought she was evading.

"What about you? You've not spoken about yourself at all." Dameon said

Sandra froze, she stayed silent then flashed Dameon a bitter smile.

"It doesn't matter." She said while turning to leave.

Dameon didn't know what to say, he got the feeling she had been someone special.

"I want to know." Dameon said gently, grabbing her hand

She turned and her eyes met Dameon's. He couldn't tell what she was feeling. Her eyes were a mixture of both hate and love. Dameon couldn't help but wonder what had happened between them.

"I can't right now." Sandra said pulling away and running out of the room.

Dameon wanted to follow her but knew it would be pointless. He walked towards the door and locked it. He was finally alone, he had some time to plan and sort out his thoughts.

He had gained valuable information from Sandra and he was thankful to her. He really wanted to know her more but wasn't even sure if she could face him again. He could deal with that later, he had bigger problems to attend to.

He didn't know how he died in his past life, was he killed and if someone really did kill him, who was it? Was it a family member? Could he even trust 'the voice'? He had so many questions but no answers to them.

He decided to try and solve each question one by one as time went by.

With this plan of action in mind, he took a cold shower, then retired to bed.
