Chapter 3: Soul Eye

Ron looked at Emily with a guilty and sad look as he spoke:

" I'm sorry Emi, I should've been here with you, you went through so much all alone, I don't know just how it all became like this. "

"..."

Emily stayed silent, she was aware that Ron wasn't at fault the situation had turned like this because of their families, but she still wanted him beside her when their baby came into this world.

After looking into each other's eyes for a few moments Ron hugged her while gently caressing Emily's head, Kai couldn't see his mother's face, but he was sure that she was crying.

After a while they separated, Ron kissed her forehead and said: " Thank you for giving birth to our child, my love. "

Drops of tears slid down her cheeks, but a smile was appeared on her face.

Even if they were tears of joy, Kai didn't like seeing Emily cry, in the few days that had passed, sad expressions appeared on her face several times, but Kai would create some sounds to lighten up her mood and it worked every time.

" Iaaaaah "

Both of them turned to look at Kai when they heard his voice, Emily laughed immediately she wondered if it was just a coincidence that whenever she was feeling sad, her son would always speak to her.

" Waah, I think he just called me dad. " Ron said as he looked at Kai, and immediately took him into his arms again.

" As if, he was talking to me. " Emily replied, taking Kai into her arms.

They chatted for a while more, and once Kai fell asleep smile disappeared from Emily's face, replaced by a stern expression.

" How did your trip go? " She asked in a solemn tone.

" I don't think anyone has found out about us yet, maybe they have decided to just let us be with our lives. " Ron said, though his tone was doubtful.

" I don't believe that, I know my family better than anyone, they will never let us be but it's good that we are fine for now. " Emily spoke, sighing at the end.

"..."

Looking at his wife's expression, Ron caressed her face and spoke: " I was able to trade most of the fruits and vegetables this time, so we will have enough for the entire winter. "

" That's great, after all, we have a new family member with us. " She said, gazing at her sleeping son with a soft look in her eyes.

" How is your body's condition? "

"..." Emily didn't reply to Ron's question, she knew that it was only getting worse, her condition was stopping her from taking care of her baby but there was nothing that either of them could do.

" Sigh, I will try to find any possible way to cure you. " Ron said, from his expression, it was evident that he was blaming himself for her condition.

More time passed and now winter was at its peak, Kai passed this time lazily and before he knew it his favourite thing became talking and making noises while looking at his mother's laugh.

In the last two months, Ron had to go out several times, so he wasn't home most of the time and Cindy helped Emily in taking care of her and the baby. As it turned out, she was their neighbour and was getting paid to work there.

Ron tried his best to take care of both of them and stayed with them, whenever his work outside finished.

Kai felt attached to his father too, but it was nothing like what he felt for Emily maybe it was also because of the emotions that had bottled up inside him in his previous life or maybe it was because of the first smile he had seen on her face.

Emily stayed in her bed most of the time, and her face remained pale even after so many weeks of giving birth.

By now, Kai had gotten a little control over his body and now he could move his arms and legs a bit. He would often try to touch Emily's face and she would happily raise him to her face.

Now, Kai was lying beside his sleeping mother, his schedule was very boring and the inability to move made it even worse.

His mind kept wondering about different things, sometimes about his past memories, while sometimes about the details of this new world, Emily's illness was still a mystery to him and he couldn't do anything about it.

He got to learn new words every day because his mother would always talk to him.

' I wonder if this world has Chi like my previous world. ' Kai thought, as time passed his decision to commit suicide was becoming vague, since he didn't want Emily to feel sad and cry, he felt conflicted.

On one side, he didn't want to feel alive again just to remember his past and on the other hand, he didn't want that beautiful smile to disappear from Emily's face for forever.

But the idea of this world possessing energy piqued his interest, so he wondered how he could check it out.

' Maybe I could use Soul Eye. '

Kai thought. In his previous life he had worked as an assassin for a long time for the people who had kidnapped him, and his bloodline skill 'Soul Eye' has been one of his greatest weapons.

But he wasn't sure if he could still use that skill and even if he could use that skill, Kai didn't know whether this small body would be able to handle it or not.
