Chapter 31: Praise me

" Leo, are you outside? " Emily spoke as she slowly sat up on her bed with some difficulty.

" Yes I am, get ready we are almost done with the breakfast. " Kai spoke and then he walked into the room with a smile, then he helped Emily up and brought her to the bathroom.

She used a cane to walk and her speed was very slow, then Kai walked back into the kitchen and helped set up the plates on the table, after Emily was done she slowly walked into the kitchen then Ron helped her to sit on the chair.

" Today we made everything that you like, taste them and tell us how do they taste. " Ron spoke and stood there like a butler and Kai stood beside his father like the butler in training.

Seeing the duo Emily first laughed out loud then she looked at the dishes and just by their appearance her mouth was watery, without wasting a single minute she began to devour one thing after another and while eating she kept praising both Kai and Ron.

" Mmmm this is great, Leo you are pleasing to both eyes and belly, I love you dear. " Emily spoke in delight, while Ron waited for his turn to get praised but Emily paid him no attention.

" No words for me? I'm very very saaad ~ " Ron mumbled, wiping off his imaginary tears.

" Oh right, you are here too I have a few words for you... " After stuffing a piece into her mouth, she looked at Ron and spoke as he waited eagerly.

" You should learn something from my son, maybe then you'll become a little smarter. Hehe " she said and giggled.

" Ughhh just make it clear right now, whom do you love more me or Leo? " Ron asked while puffing out his cheeks.

" Of course Ron I like you... less than my Leo. " Emily replied in a serious tone.

" It's fine dad, I'm sure your mother will also like you a lot... Probably. " Kai said, as all three of them began to laugh.

They continued with their day as usual, because of Emily's deteriorating health Ron was staying home more often, and because of this he was earning a lot less than earlier but they still had enough to live without any difficulties.

Emily and Ron both of them are from rich families but after living in such conditions for a few years they have gotten completely used to it though they still felt bad that they couldn't provide the best things for their son, so they were doing their best with him at every turn of life.

Kai studied different things with Emily and played for some time with Ron, they didn't interact with their neighbours too much probably to keep their identities hidden, when it was night they had dinner and chatted amongst themselves for some time after which they went to sleep.

After Emily had fallen asleep Kai walked out of the room silently and found that Ron was also sleeping, he went out and then sat in the lawn, the light above his head was already on.

' I think I shouldn't go to the forest today, those hunters would definitely be searching for me there, anyway, I still need to observe those cores. ' he thought and felt a little excited to check them out.

Kai stood up and then looked around after making sure that no one was watching him he walked to the place where he had hidden those cores, he took them out and then returned back to his house.

He sat down and then observed both the cores closely, they were black in colour and were smooth without any cracks or rough surfaces, the energy present inside them was packed in such a manner that it was not leaking energy continuously.

" It would have been even better if I had been able to use the meat of those beasts, anyway let's think about that later for now even this much is more than enough for me. " He mumbled and then used his Soul Eye as his eyes turned purple.

He didn't find anything strange about them but the energy inside the cores was different from the energy in the air, it seemed more tamed and had slight features of flames.

Closing his eyes for a moment, Kai decided to try to absorb energy from them even though it could be dangerous but he was just too eager to try it, placing one of the cores in his palm he took in a deep breath and tried to pull out some energy particles from it.

And much to his surprise it was a lot easier to absorb energy from them, those energy particles travelled inside the body and didn't seem as chaotic as the normal energy particles though they still gave him burning sensations.

After a few seconds, Kai stopped, if he absorbed energy from these cores then it would definitely be much faster and easier than usual but since Kai doesn't have an energy centre yet so it would be a waste to use them now since it they wouldn't be making much of a difference currently.

" These things are pretty good, I think they will come in handy later on, for now, I should just keep them away from everyone's sight. " He thought and then hid those cores away along with the knives.

Returning back to his position he began to train, it had been a few days since any blazing monkey had attacked their village, it was most probably because of the increase in the number of mercenaries and hunters that led to the death of more beasts.
