Chapter 7: Bullet #5: Desert monster and new superpowers

This creature, let's call it "the three-eyed merry fellow," was 4 meters (or maybe more) tall; with my 1.78 meters tall, I looked a little pitiful. If you initially didn't have a complete idea of what it was, an ordinary person would already be screaming like crazy, something like: "Demon! Save me, help!" And in principle, he would be right, the creature is clearly of demonic origin, which is not surprising, since I'm walking through hell right now. The monster looked somewhere into the distance, clearly not noticing me. It's a little strange, because even in the darkness that I saw earlier, my white clothes would stand out very much.

Its temporary blindness towards me is only to my advantage. Changing my middle fingers into pistols, I took aim at the largest, given his size, and at the same time the most vulnerable organs: the heart, the right lung, the brain. I fired 4 shots at these planned points, but...they all ricocheted. That is bad.

This creature, finally hearing and feeling something underneath itself, deigned to notice me.

*Rooarr*

Can't speak. Unreasonable individual. However...

*Doom*

This giant obviously has good physical parameters, since its fist hitting the ground created a crater with a radius of 1.5 meters and a depth of 40 centimeters. "The three-eyed merry fellow" aimed its fist at me and delivered the blow extremely quickly, but I easily dodged it. It clearly doesn't reach the devil's level of strength, so my current reaction is enough to at least not take damage from its blows. Having run around it, I managed to confuse its consciousness, after which I hid in a cave.

When the beast turned around completely, it did not see me and began to look for its potential prey with its eyes.

In the current situation, it was decided to turn to Charon.

-*What do you need, rapid shooter?*

- Charon, I need your advice as a local zoologist.

- *Do I look like a guy in a green shirt climbing on poop?*

- Um, no?

- *Then what do you want from me?*

-Can you answer what kind of demon this is? 3 yellow eyes, two horn-shaped appendages on the head, 4 meters tall, large paws with sharp claws and impenetrable skin.

- *Oh, you mean Bared? So these creatures are not demons. These are just local animals and do not pose a danger..*

- In some places it doesn't look as you describe, if I didn't have the devil's reaction, I wouldn't look so athletic, and even on the contrary - flatter...

- *You are still too weak as a devil, it is quite normal that the Bareds give you difficulties.*

- Listen, at first I doubted it a little, but now I want to ask: is it possible to shoot them in the eyes?

- *You can try, but it won't work. They have good body armor by default, but their eyes are their weak point, so they protect them with ZF.*

- ZF?

- *ZF, or in simple terms - Zero Field - a special field created by the internal energy of demon-like ones. Capable of absorbing any damage, but is quickly used up. In Bared's case, it uses the field only on its eyes, so this protection works for a very long time.*

- And then how to defeat this beast?

- *You will have to shoot point-blank in the eyes. The ZF only works at a certain distance from the target of protection.*

- And how do you suggest I climb this colossus?

- *I missed the part where that is my problem. I'm interrupting the connection, now 27 new sinners are waiting for me.*

And thanks for that. At least now I know that there is a way to defeat this...Bared? What a strange name. It sounds similar to "Bored", but in fact it couldn't be more active! Three-Eyed is already losing patience, and in principle, this also applies to me. His eyes are too far from each other, so I won't be able to load from all five guns at once; I have to shoot one eye at a time, and this adds risk.

The tactics against it have already been developed, I saw it in some book, I don't remember exactly where, so it's time to burn!

I ran out of the cave, Bared noticed me and again began to swing its right hand to strike. Now! I jumped back, his hand landed on the ground in front of me. Without wasting even a second after landing, I jumped onto Bared's hand and ran along it towards its eyes. The monster did not hesitate and tried to slam me with its left hand, but it was too late.

At the moment of impact, I jumped on Bared's face and grabbed onto the skin to the left of its eyes. It seemed to me that Bared understood my intentions and tried to shake me off its face, turning his head back and forth. It's not surprising that it doesn't use his paws; with such a manicure you can't even move your palm across its face... I put my finger to its eye and shot. The eye broke out like a pimple on the forehead of an eighth-grader. Dark black blood flowed from it, or maybe even black oil?

*Giiiiiya!*

Yes, it was painful. It hurts the eye even if you just touch it, but in this case... Bared became more active in trying to shake me off; It was becoming more and more difficult to hold on to its already not very protruding appendage. There was no time to waste, having made an identical shot in the other, right eye, I climbed higher. The third eye was located above the others, in the forehead. I usually saw something similar in pictures on the Internet from Buddhists. Their third eye symbolized the knowledge of truth and the possibility of thinking beyond the knowledge of other people. I'll just have to find out what's wrong with the eye in this monster's forehead.

When I got to its third eye and placed the gun, I felt something strange coming from it, some strange energy... I didn't feel anything like that from the other two eyes.

-What if...?

I returned my hand to its previous state and tore out Bared's eye. This beast began to scream more than usual; its scream could have made you deaf!

Hiding my eye in the pocket of my white coat, I returned my hand to the shape of a gunshot, with each finger looking like a pistol and thrusting all five fingers into the gap where the third eye once was and firing a powerful shot into the supposed location of the brain, I fell onto the sand from powerful recoil.

Bared stood motionless for about three seconds, after which it began to fall dead in my direction. Its head was falling on me, so I had to crawl back a little. As soon as its bloody face landed on the sand, a viscous mass of blood and torn brains splashed from its head due to the inertia. Not to say that the spectacle made me empty my stomach, but I truly felt sorry for my suit, onto which this black mush spilled.

Having stood up and brushed the brains out of my coat as much as possible, I began to slowly recover from the adrenaline state. An interesting note: souls as such do not have any kind of body, but demons and devils do. They are rather a separate race, which is why they differ from the formless echoes of the former Homo Sapiens.

As far as I understand by analogy with the rat, each creature has some kind of peculiarity, and by absorbing them you can take on these abilities for yourself. In the case of the rat, it was night vision, but I wonder what this dead carcass of Bared can give me?

I won't be able to eat his stone skin, and I have no intention of using it, but how can I get the meat? You can't shoot through the skin; going through the eyes or mouth is not an option...

I wonder if I can try to form a knife from gun parts? I kind of can do anything as long as it's part of a firearm. I tried this trick, but it didn't work very well. It is very difficult to imagine a knife from a pistol. So, what is a knife? This is a thin sharpened piece of metal...

- Hooray, it worked !

It didn't look much like a knife, rather like some kind of prison sharpening of a curved shape, but with a fairly sharp blade.

- I wonder, can it cut No-Eye's skin?

Putting the sharpener to the outer corner of the former eye, if you can call it that, pressing from the inside, I tried to cut its skin aaaand... yes, it works. It's going slow, but at least it's something!

On my 18th birthday, one of my father's associates decided to take me away from this gangster fuss into nature, to the north of Xinjiang, where he taught me how to hunt brown bear. There he taught me how to skin it. Tyler is a good man. He always spoke correctly and to the point. He knew a lot of things and wanted to teach me a lot, but he couldn't be called a father's replacement. Just a good person who cared about me.

And it is thanks to his teachings that I am now able to survive here. Having skinned Bared like a bear, I cut the meat pulled out of it into pieces. There wasn't much meat - about seventy kilograms for his size. Everything else is his thick stone skin. He wielded its weight rather than his own physical strength. And this was also the reason why the knife was so difficult to move. The meat was just right for my weight, I think this is a sign.

Having dragged everything collected into the cave and lit the fire again, since it had already gone out, I began to fry the first batch of meat. Eight hellish hours of waiting and the meat is ready! Initially it had a black tint, but after the blood drained and evaporated from it, it acquired a pleasant gray tint. So, the black blood makes the meat so dark too.

After waiting until it cooled slightly, I tried the first piece. I'd rather not do this. The taste was disgusting, as if coffee without cream and sugar had been poured into the vegetable soup. But perhaps some cool superpower is hidden behind this disgusting taste? I must do it ! After the second bite...I gave up. It was impossible to eat. I wonder what about raw meat? Out of habit, I fried it, but now I'm a devil, not a human. It seems like my body works differently now?

Slightly disdainful of this black piece of muscle, I took the first bite... and then everything was fine. Regular coffee with sugar without cream, quite tolerable. After eating one steak weighing half a kilo, I felt weak and then fell to the ground. After lying down for half an hour b.h.t. (hellish time), my strength returned and I got up. What exactly has changed in me is not clear. Let's try force. I hit a nearby stone with my fist and it broke into smithereens, it's cool, but I should at least have abrasions from such a blow, but I don't. Maybe not, but it's possible... transforming my left hand into a knife and raising it above my head, I struck a sharp blow from top to bottom on my right hand.

After contact, the knife immediately bounced off the hand like it was a stone... OH YES, "Stone Skin". I remember there was once a popular browser game where you had to create a frightening mutant out of a puppy and fight in a turn-based strategy with other, same mutants, and among the various stings of scorpions, mouths of crocodiles and tentacles there was also stone skin, a pretty good skill, reducing damage.

There was no point in eating the rest of the meat. I'll have to leave it all here along with its skin and organs here. Stopender, what about the eye? I took the dark yellow eye out of my pocket. The size is not very impressive. Like a human eyeball, only three times larger. I also think there is no point in cooking it. I'll have to eat it like a big grape. I put the eye in my mouth and bit it. Its internal juice flowed across my tongue straight into my throat, reminiscent of... pineapple ? Very tasty and sweet, but what does it give me? There are no deteriorations in health, as before. It makes sense to ask Charon.

- Listen, black boatman, are Bared's eyes valuable in any way?

-*Don't distract me from work over trifles, fool!*

- Are they valuable?

- *No, they are not valuable in anything except the upper eye. It creates a ZF field.*

- So this is how it is...

- *Did you find out what you wanted? And now adiu!*

ZF field, right? I'll try to create it. The formation of something in the body of the devil works on the principle of imagining any of its states. I felt energy in front of me, the same as from the eye. I extended my hand, but ran into some invisible wall. I fired, the bullet disappeared. So this is how this field works, well, it will clearly be useful to me...
