Chapter 2: Reborn

Pushing those thoughts to the back of his mind for now, he decided to explore this darkness he was in.

The sound he could hear from his limbs rubbing against some sort of barrier, he could tell he was in a confined space.

One at which debris seemed to be falling from with each movement of his hands.

Taking a deep breath, he decided to punch through the barrier without caring about the result.

Having experienced death over and over again, he isn't scared of dying anymore.

Taking the punch, he felt his hands go through whatever barrier was holding him and the sound of falling debris confirmed that.

Taking no further thought, he continued with his action while forcefully pushing his body upwards in an attempt to break free of this dark hold.

While all that was going on, five guys could be seen chasing a girl of around 15 years old into a cemetery.

The girl seemed to have nowhere else to turn to other than the cemetery.

Soon she had her back against a dead end with nowhere else to run to.

"Come on pretty, we just want to play a little with you. We've never played with an elf girl before," the leading figure of the five spoke smugly.

The four others behind him burst into joyful laughter, seeing the girl's helpless face.

Attempting to sprint away from the group once more, a little flame ball landed inches away from her feet.

It had obviously come from the leading figure standing before her as another flame ball could be seen hovering above his palm.

"Take one more step and you'll turn into elf barbecue," he threatened.

The helplessness of the girl increased as she saw the others activate their abilities too.

"You've managed to spot us long enough, if you move one more time, just like Rein said, you won't only become barbecue, but you'll be put on a stake too," another of the five chimed in, conjuring earth spikes around the girl and themselves.

While they were all busy threatening the girl, they didn't notice a skeleton hand popping out of a grave some distance away from them.

That hand slowly became two, and in a matter of seconds, a skeleton was already crawling out of the grave.

This skeleton was none other than Arthur Relzar.

Having fully dug himself out of the grave, he was marvelled at the sight of where he found himself, especially with the name he was looking at on the grave stone.

Lost in his own thoughts after seeing his name boldly written on the grave slab and a monumental speech written and signed by Morphis, his thoughts were abruptly cut off.

The noise in the distance, coupled with the proudful laughter of the youngster, set off an annoying feeling inside of him.

It reminded him so much of Morphis' smug smile before his death, coupled with the fact that they were trying to abuse an innocent girl.

He couldn't sit still anymore. He wasn't some kind of saint to go around saving beauties.

These guys were just so unlucky to have encountered him on his very bad day. The sound of bones rattling with each step Arthur took soon caught the attention of the busy youngsters about to have a good time.

When they turned to see a walking skeleton coming over, they first had a shocked expression which soon turned into mocking laughter.

Rein turned his head towards the direction of the elf girl, who was just as surprised as the boys.

His cruel grin could be seen on the side of his lips.

"Seems like our elf toy here has an ability, no wonder she spotted us and followed her down here."

The others nodded in agreement, but it wasn't enough to scare them, as they were level two ability users.

Compared to the elf girl, who would be a level one ability user, the disparity was too great.

"Don't worry guys, I got this. Just make sure that b*tch is ready for the taking once I get back," one of the boys stepped out to deal with the animated skeleton.

A gust of wind surrounded the youngster as he propelled himself forward with a push from the wind.

Two wind-like blades formed in his hands mid-air, before Arthur could react.

He had been hacked into a few pieces. The sound of his dead, dry bones falling on the hard ground confirmed the youngster's speed and ferocity.

Done dealing with the skeleton, the boy dusted his hands in a smug manner, pride evident on his face as he turned towards the rest of his team to pose an easy victory look.

The remaining youngsters gave him a thumb up or a look as if saying "good job" as they turned towards the elf girl once more.

They didn't notice the surprised look on her eyes or the expression on her face, nor did they bother to notice where her gaze was locked onto.

The boy who had taken care of Arthur easily didn't bother to look back at the dry bones.

He didn't notice anything behind him either, until he felt a piercing pain coming from his chest when he was about to head back to join the others.

His muffled cry garnered the attention of the others towards his direction, only to see a skeleton hand had gone through his chest, holding his beating heart.

The look of disbelief, pain, and terror he felt before his lifeless body hit the ground with blood gushing out of his mouth, were the last things his comrades saw before the sight of the very skeleton he had destroyed came into view, behind his lifeless body with bloody hands.

The others, out of fright, unleashed their abilities on Arthur - flame, earth spikes, water bullets, and even ice shards.

Arthur's figure was drowned in this outpour of attacks.

When the barrage of attacks stopped, Arthur's skeleton figure could be seen standing there unharmed with a mysterious dark energy covering his entire figure like a protective layer of skin over his bony skeleton.

Arthur, surprised at this strange energy coating his figure, kept staring at the energy that converged into a ball of energy in his hands just by a thought.

The youngsters weren't stupid enough to keep attacking, seeing their first attempt fail. The best option was to run, and that's exactly what they did. Arthur was just staring at their escaping figures with his hollow skeleton eye socket having a tiny bit of blue flame.

Running like a monster was after them, the four remaining boys sprinted like hell without looking back.

When all of a sudden, something pierced one of them from behind, right at the spot where his heart should be. His sprinting figure slowly began to lose momentum until it crashed into one of the grave slabs.

The others, though focused on escaping, didn't fail to notice this, especially the arrow that had pierced him, which seemed to be made of that strange energy before it dispersed into thin air.

Carried away by the sudden death of another of their comrades, one of the youngsters didn't observe carefully. Missing his steps as he fell, he landed on a digging fork which killed him instantly.

The other two became disoriented and decided against running in a straight line towards the exit. Afraid they would be shot, instead they made a quick turn and headed deeper into the cemetery in an attempt to break free from this nightmare.

It didn't take long for their awful cries to fill the quiet atmosphere before everything returned to normal once more.

The elf lady hadn't made a single move ever since, even when Arthur's figure disappeared deep into the cemetery to deal with the other two.

Hearing their awful cries made it obvious they had met their ends too.

Shortly after, she saw a skeleton dragging two dead bodies over, throwing them beside the first one.

He went off to get the other two, and in no time all five bodies were in front of Arthur and the elf girl.

Unbothered by the presence of the elf girl or her frightened state, Arthur followed his instinct.

Placing his hands over the stacked-up bodies, the next thing that happened blew both of their minds away.

All the corpses shriveled and dried up into a mummified zombie-like appearance, while the opposite was taking place on Arthur himself.

Right there and then, sinew and tissues started sprouting out of Arthur's dried bones.

His skeleton appearance slowly faded away with the speeding tissue regeneration all over him, revealing a new charming and breathtaking appearance - a young man around 15 years of age, standing there in his full glory.
