[Welcome host, to your new body]

I opened my eyes and found myself in front of a mansion.

I blinked, and scanned my sorroundings, I was holding a big brown case, which I figured must contain my essentials. I found the mansion was located on top of a hill which had a small forest circling it, a town could also be found below the hill.

'Hm, where am I?' I asked the floating square which called itself a "system".

Along with a the words on the floating square, a monotone voice was heared inside of my head.

[Walk into the mansion, host, I shall explain as you continue on.]

I started walking up the rather steep hill that the mansion was situated on as the system explained to me about the circumstances.

[ Currently, your master is had just been born, and haven't recalled his past life yet. But as he grows, he will slowly pick up on them and so will his powers also return.]

My soft leather boots rustled the grass as I walked, listening to the system.

[ Your master is born into a Count family, the year is in the 1800s.]

"Hmm... I see." If this was still in her previous world, if she was in the 1800s there, many years would have passes by, as it was still the 500s in her world.

[ Some technology are also developed in this world, such as the potophone, in which you can use to communicate with someone else who also has a photophone from very far away.]

"Hm? Does it need mana?"

The system made a sound like it was shaking it's head.

[ No, this world has almost no mana at all]

I was quite impressed, people managed to live this long and make technologies without the help of mana?

"That's quite interesting."

I arrived at the top of the hill, where a large metal fence protected the mansion within.

A gaurd in dark blue and green uniform aproached me.

[ Check the pocket if your skirt, there should be a card there, show that card to the gaurd. ]

I shoved my hand in my pocket and felt a smooth surface, I took it out and showed it at the gaurd.

The gaurd and he examined it, "Oh! You finally arrived miss, the count and countess have been expecting you.

The gaurd opened the gate and he led me through the front garden.

As we were walking, I glanced at the card and read, [Ms. Mon Day].

'System,' I called, 'is this my name?'

[Yes, host.]

[That is your body's name.]

[Would you like to take a look at your profile?]

'Yes.'

[Collecting data... wait a moment please...]

[ Name: Mon Day

Age: 20

Marital status: Single

Date of birth:####

#############]

'Hmmm, I wonder what I look like.'

We arrived at the front door where a servant was waiting, the gaurd left and the servant led me through the corridor.

She opened one of the many doors that was aligned in the hall and gestured for me to get inside.

"Please wait here Miss, the Countess will come to greet you." She said.

I nodded and entered the room, I spotted a long mirror not far, so I stood in front of it to see my appearance.

I froze as I scanned my face and features, wavy blonde hair that fell below my shoulders, big blue cyan eyes, and a mole under my left eye, I also had cupid's bow shaped lips.

I touched my cheek, frowning, "This face... I know this face..."

That was when I remembered my now past life, a garden of pink roses, and the scent of flowers that filled my nose. The lustrous light green leaves that shimmered in the bright soft sun.

I remember when I parted those bushes filled with thorns to see a girl, a bit younger than me, weeping quietly, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.

I accidentaly stepped on a branch which made her jump in surprise and turn to face me.

"You-!"

She angrily stood up, and demanded in a restrained voice.

"Don't tell anyone about this."

I stood up straight and said, "Surely my lady, but may I ask what could be causing you sorrow?"

She was quiet for a moment, I did not push her for an answer as I waited behind the bush.

"I..." After a while she finally spoke with her head hanging down, staring at the ground as she fiddles her feet.

"I'm not sure... if I can be a host... a host for extravagant parties, like this one... it's so hard, and I'm always afraid that I might mess up."

She sighed and covered her face with her hands.

"How can I be the crown prince's fiance if I'm like this?"

I thought about it for a moment and said to her, "Well, milady, you are actually doing a great job, for a new host."

She pouted, "You're lying."

I chuckled, "I surely am not, as a knight, how dare I lie in front of a lady."

"And, these roses might have been so hard to grow. Also how you designed and prepared the tea party, and you placed it in the middle of this rose garden, I must say, a very smart idea to host your first tea party."

She seemed to have felt better, "You.. think so...? You don't think.." she motioned with her hand. "You don't think this is too much?"

"Not at all, it's rather lovely. The tea and snacks are exquisite too."

She finally had a smile, "Yes... it was made by..."

She started to talk about who made the snacks, where she got the furnitures from, how she came up with the idea of a tea party in their rose garden. And also how she adored pink roses.

As dusk fell and the guests have started to exit and go their own ways, I also went to Michael's side.

I put a foot in the carriage when someone called for me.

"Wait! Wait! Dame Mary! Wait!"

I turned and saw the girl, Lady Rose, running towards me. She stopped in front of me, trying to catch her breath.

"Haa.. haa... I.. I..."

"It's okay milady, take your time."

I handed her a handkerchief for her to wipe her sweat.

"Can.. I see you again?"

She asked, her eyes looking up at me.

I smiled, "Of course."

She smiled widely and waved us goodbye as we exited her residence.

In the carriage, Michael looked at me while he pouted.

"You're only ever gentle with women." He grumbled.

"Of course." I said as a matter of fact with a straight face.

He continued grumbling, "Why can't you be gentle with me and the other male knights? My left shoulder is still aching from the practice we had last week."

I smiled, and stared at the scenery out the window.

"Can...I see you again?"

"Of course."

I had expectations, that me and Lady Rose will meet and have fun.

"..."

But those expectations were broken.

As darkness started to take over the empire, cetizens, nobles, and the imperial family was forced to evacuate to another empire nearby, including the family of Lady Rose.

"Escort the women and children first!!"

"Ladies! Children! No matter what class! Quickly board the carraiges!"

Because of the red sky, and the darkness that started to form, people were agitated and scuttled hurrily into the carriages.

Mothers, no matter what class, huddled their children as they boarded. Knights sorrounded and escorted them, wizards cast teleportation spells to evacuate them to a safe place.

I was also busy, but noticed a familliar figure. I hurriedly went up to her, and forced her into a carriage.

"Wait!"

She grabbed my.hand before I sould shut the door.

"I know I shouldn't be here.. but, please..."

Lady Rose put a handkerchief in my hand, "Please be safe.."

Her face was stitched with worry as she squeezed my hanf tightly, she was shaking.

I stopped for a few seconds and nodded, "I will try."

"Even if you're missing a limb or two.. please come back alive."

Her eyes that held tears looked at me, "Promise?"

I gave her a smile, "I promise." She touched my forehead with her's, a sign of affection in our culture, and let go of my hand.

The carriage moved and I waved to her, goodbye.

I watched the it, the carriage she was in, disapear. I opened my palm, and saw the handkerchief she gave me, it had a light pink color, with the faint scent of roses, and a pink rose and a silver sword served as design.

Would I come to regret promising to her? Promising something, I knew, can't be fulfilled?

Now... staring at her face in the mirror, I was anxious.

'How is she? Was she safe? Did she become empress? Is she still alive and well?'

There was no point in asking these questions.. since I would never get an answer.
