A breeze flowed through the trees like a snake moving through grass

The sky was a stunning obsidian with dots of brilliant gems strewn around, twinkling as they charmed the eye.

"So pretty," a boy gazed at the sky, sitting on a fallen log. His body is akin to a twig and his skin is as pale as paper, but a smile adorned his bloodied face.

"Tonight is a full moon," the boy mumbled, awestruck by the night sky.

"I wonder," the boy looked down, looking at his hands. Deep cuts plagued his entire palm, and blood was oozing out like a stream, never seeming to stop.

"...if I can have a family like the stars," the boy's smile wavered, his eyelids closing slightly as his bitter tears squeezed out.

Vi/here are you, Mom? Dad?" the boy muttered, hi367 voice hoarse, and his body beginning to sway.

"Can you sing me asleep?" and as though answering his wish, he fell to the blood soaked ground, staining his torn clothes with even more scarlet.

A few hours ago...

"Hey mister..."

I kept my head down, my cloak covering every inch of my body. Tugging on the kind-looking man's clothes, I spoke as softly as I could.

"I'm hungry, could you give me some food?"

Yes, I am a beggar on the streets. But so what? What does it change?

'It changes absolutely nothing.

"Oh, you poor boy," I could see the man back away from me before reaching into his pockets. "Here, take these coins and buy some bread."

"Thank you, mister!" I chirped, secretly forcing a vomit back into my stomach. Quickly, I snatched the coins from the man's hand before rushing off.

"Hey! Be careful!" The man yelled out, a worried look on his face. "Weird... why did that boy's hand look so pale?"

Now that I was far from the man's sight, I slowed down and hid behind the nearest tree I could find. Looking at my palm, I smiled, bittersweet squeezing my heart.

It's enough to buy a whole loaf of bread, let out a 3KB/S shaky sigh.

Though I want to thank the man's kindness, I simply couldn't stomach it.

"Why must they act like saints to others, but do as demons to me?"

For some reason, when anyone sees me, they want nothing more than to throw knives at my way and act as though it was a slip of hand.

Is it because I'm pale? Or is it because my eyes are blood-red? Is it because of my pitch-black hair? Or should I blame my sharp looking teeth?

Either way, I've long stopped caring and started living in the forest outside of the village walls...

Or at least, I thought I stopped caring, until one fateful day.

I was running out of food in my little treehouse, and the animals I could hunt had become scarce. The animals left were too difficult for me to hunt consistently.

I tried fishing too, but that only lasted me for a few days. Sure, there were endless fish in the waters... probably, but the villagers soon caught what I was doing and chased me out.

They even burned down my treehouse, those bastards.

Because I couldn't live in the forest anymore, not unless I leave the village and become independent, I went back into the pits of hell with a robe I made from old clothes.

I smelled and looked like shit, but who cares? As long as I get to see another day, it all doesn't matter.

With a plan in mind, I entered the village and tried to rob a small store... Well, I tried to, until a lady saw me on my way to a life of crime.

The lady approached me, bought me some food, and even tried to guide me to the orphanage.

I rejected her last offer, but her kindness made me realize one thing.

It wasn't that everyone hated each other... it was that everyone hated me, and ONLY me.

A year passed since then, and I am now six years old. I lived like a rat, hiding everywhere, and making sure my face was never seen.

Underneath the black cloak I was wearing was mummy.

Well, that's what I look like with all the bandages wrapped around my entire body. Literally, only my eyes were spared from the bandages.

'Perhaps only my face needed to be covered, but oh well. I am used to this now.

I couldn't understand it. What did I do to deserve such treatment? Why did I have to do so much just to keep myself hidden? Did my parents commit a horrible crime? If so, why must the people blame the child?

With a shake of my head, I pocketed the coins and headed to look for the baker. That was when I saw someone coming out behind a tree.

'Strange, why was he hiding behind a tree?'

Maybe he's like me? And everyone hates him too...

For a second, I stopped and smiled. Tears began forming around my eyes, as the thought that I wasn't alone crossed my mind.

But then, as the man walked closer and closer to me. my heart couldn't help but beat faster with anxiety.

'Am I nervous?'

I'm not quite sure myself. I'm always confident. Even though life isn't the kindest to me, I never let it affect my confidence. Or maybe, it was life that couldn't affect my confidence.

Otherwise, there's no way I'd have built enough courage to go into the woods at such a young age. The same went with my attempt to rob a small store, even though I "failed".

"Hello?"

Finally, the man was close enough to me and uttered a greeting. I was looking down, and it felt... kind of rude to not look up when greeting someone, even though I did it countless times when I was begging.

"H-Hi..." I uttered, taking a peek at the man. A smile crept on the man's face when I looked up, and... I started feeling nauseous.

'Did I eat something bad?'

No, that shouldn't be it.

I remember this feeling. It was the feeling I always get when those villagers came up to chase me away.

But why? Why would I feel this way?

"Good. I have the correct target," the man nodded.

Before I knew it, a searing pain bubbled across my face. The cloak that had always covered my head, and the bandages wrapped around my face were now all falling down, and as though time had slowed down to a crawl, I could see the man's eyes.

They were soulless, devoid of any desire. Was he... really like me?

If so, then why does he have a knife in his hand with my blood on it?
