Chapter 49: Chapter 49 : Gray vs Lyon!
"Emperor Zero, Kyros, the 'Immortal Demon King' has arrived, and our plan to resurrect Deliora may be in jeopardy," Ultear exclaimed.
Ultear hadn't anticipated encountering Kyros here. Though she had heard of Kyros's name countless times, this was her first encounter with him.
Naturally inclined to test Kyros's strength, she poised herself to creat a confrontation between Lyon and Kyros.
Lyon, visibly agitated, abruptly changed his demeanor and declared, "Impossible! No one shall thwart my plan! Whoever dares to impede me, be it the Immortal Demon King or Thunder God, shall vanish before me!"
Pointing his finger, Lyon issued a command to Kyros, "Eliminate them!"
A horde of masked assailants armed with weapons charged towards Kyros and the others.
Natsu and Gray were ready to intervene immediately, but Kyros intervened, saying softly, "Allow me."
"Om—!"
Kyros once again emanated a terrifying aura and launched an attack against the assailants.
The expressions of those present shifted. They witnessed Kyros's assault, which was swift and unexpected. The sudden strike caught them off guard, leaving them staring in astonishment.
Upon hearing Kyros's voice, several of them hastily reinforced their magical defenses.
However, this time, the overwhelming aura unleashed by Kyros did not manifest as a physical attack as they had anticipated. Instead, they felt a piercing assault on their minds and spirits.
A profound sense of dread enveloped them, causing their faces to pale. Lyon staggered momentarily but managed to steady himself.
Yuka, Toby, and Sherry found themselves trembling, their legs giving way as they knelt on the ground.
"Bam! Bam! Bam!"
The masked assailants who had charged at Kyros collapsed to the ground, immobilized.
Shock etched across the faces of Yuka and the others. They had initially held the numerical advantage, yet in a single encounter, they witnessed their comrades fall.
Toby gazed at Kyros with horror and stammered, "Y-You... you... you've... killed them?!"
Kyros shook his head and replied, "No, they are merely unconscious."
"ICEMAKE · Big Eagle!"
Lyon gestured, conjuring a swarm of ice eagles that soared towards Kyros.
Unperturbed by the opponent's status as an S-class mage of the Fairy Tail guild, Lyon was convinced of his superiority. In his eyes, no matter how formidable the adversary, none could match his prowess.
"ICEMAKE · Shield!"
Gray suddenly stepped forward, positioning himself between Kyros and the incoming threat, conjuring an ice shield with both hands.
"Lyon, I'll be your opponent," he declared firmly.
"Kyros, Natsu, Lucy, leave this to me. You deal with the others," Gray instructed.
Kyros and Natsu didn't protest. Understanding the significance of their bond, they accepted the division of tasks without objection. Some matters required separate resolutions, and they trusted Gray's capability to manage his own challenge.
Addressing Gray, Kyros added, "Don't just win for yourself; victory for you is victory for all of Fairy Tail."
Gray nodded in acknowledgment.
"Kyros, leave these guys to me!" Natsu declared, his anger still simmering from the earlier attempt to harm innocent villagers.
With remarkable speed, Natsu closed the distance between himself and Toby in an instant, delivering a powerful headbutt to Toby's forehead.
"Aaargh!" Toby cried out in pain as he crashed to the ground.
Natsu's cheeks swelled with flames as he directed a fiery blast towards Yuka.
The flames dispersed as Yuka deftly waved them away. "So, the legendary Fire Dragon Slayer of Fairy Tail has appeared," he remarked coolly.
Meanwhile, Toby managed to rise to his feet again. "We were once members of a renowned guild. Don't underestimate us," he warned Natsu. "You've heard of the Lamia Scale, right? We have a formidable mage known as Jura, the Rock Iron."
"Yeah, and we've got a hot-headed one called Natsu!" Natsu retorted, unleashing another burst of flames.
"Argh!" Yuka recoiled from the heat. "You... you're just mindlessly attacking!"
"I don't care about your guild or your companions," Natsu declared defiantly. "If you stand against my client, you stand against Fairy Tail. That's all I need to know."
Meanwhile, Sherry intervened, summoning her own magic. "I won't allow you to obstruct Lord Zero's plans! Angelica, come forth!" she called out.
"Boom!"
In the daylight, the enormous rodent that Kyros and the others had encountered emerged from below, its face twisted into a fierce expression.
"Angelica! Destroy them!"
Upon hearing Sherry's command, the colossal mouse glanced up at Kyros and the others. However, as soon as it caught sight of Kyros, its expression changed dramatically.
"Squeak! Squeak!"
Like a mouse spotting a cat, it let out a panicked squeak, darted back into the hole it had emerged from, and fled without looking back.
"Angelica..." Sherry stood dumbfounded as she watched the large mouse scurry away without a second glance.
Suddenly, the ground beneath the feet of Kyros, Natsu, Lucy, and the members of Lamia Scale crumbled, sending them all tumbling downward.
"Wow! Again with this?!" Lucy screamed as she plummeted.
